KAEL'S POV

FLASHBACK

“Who is she, son?” Alpha Zander barks for the umpteenth time, but I remain silent.

His voice reverberates around the metal walls of the dungeon. At my silence, he growls and sends another slash of his whip across my skin.

I cough out blood and gasp, struggling to keep my eyes open. My hands are cuffed above my head, and my legs are chained to the wall. My eyes roam to the rats moving in the buckets.

I stifle a laugh, remembering how this man had once made me release this on the body of an innocent. He wouldn’t hesitate to use it on me. I know. I deserve it. Karma always finds a way to come back.

“Fine, don’t tell me. I know how stubborn you can be. You will never open your freaking mouth, no matter how much I torture you!” he snaps, eyes glaring at me.

He grabs my chin, forcing me to look at him, but I turn my face away.
