Lila’s POV

Cole’s eyes stayed locked on me as he stood there. His arm slid around my waist like it belonged there, pulling my flush against him in one smooth, effortless motion.

“Next time, baby,” his voice snapped me back to reality, his thumb brushing lightly along my cheeks. “Don’t walk out on me like that.”

Walk out?

I blinked at him.

Is he serious right now?

“Cole—” I started under my breath, but this grip tightened just slightly. More like a warning to play along.

Oh.

I get it now.

  • Fake Dating the arrogant hockey Captain    Kiss Me

Lila’s POVThe cafeteria was louder than usual today.Trays clattered against tables, people laughing too loudly over things that probably weren’t even funny, and somewhere near the vending machines, someone was arguing about a football game like it was life or death.Meanwhile, I was one second away from losing my mind.I sat at one of the far tables near the windows, my music ethics textbook lying open in front of me, with a pen resting tightly between my fingers, staring blankly at the same sentence for what had to be the tenth time now.The philosophical interpretation of emotional structure in classical compositions—I blinked. Then read the sentence over and over again to see if my brain would finally grasp anything.Still nothing.Because unfortunately, the only thing my brain had done all day was replay the heated standoff between Cole and Ryan instead of studying for the ethics quiz waiting for me later.Fuck.Concentrate, Lila.I was this close to screaming into the table wh

  • Fake Dating the arrogant hockey Captain    Caught Between Them

Lila’s POVThe hallway suddenly felt too quiet as Cole and Ryan stared each other down. Ryan’s gaze flicked down briefly to where Cole was still holding my hand before lifting back to his face, his expression calm, but there was something sharper underneath it now.“I just need a minute to talk to her,” Ryan’s voice cut through the silence.“And I said she’s not going anywhere,” Cole replied. My stomach twisted instantly at the sight of the awkward moment between the two of them.OkayThis was getting really weird.“Guys—” I started, trying to stop whatever this was before it got worse, but neither of them looked at me. Instead, their eyes remained locked on each other without looking away for even a second.Ryan stepped closer to Cole, so close that I could practically feel the tension radiating between them.“You know,” he said carefully. “For someone who just got into a relationship, you’re acting pretty territorial.”A slow smirk spread across Cole’s face, but there wasn’t anythi

  • Fake Dating the arrogant hockey Captain    When Pretending Becomes Real

Lila’s POVI pressed my lips together, tightening my grip on my bag as I walked faster toward the music department building. What are you doing, Lila? Why the hell are you still thinking about what happened between you and Cole last night?I shook my head quickly, as if it would magically make the thoughts disappear. But the second I pushed through the doors into the hallway, something felt… off.A group of girls stood near the lockers, their heads bent over a phone. One of them looked up—and immediately touched the other with her elbows. They all looked at me.Then back at the phone. Then at me again.“Weird…” I muttered under my breath, my confusion growing with every step. “Why are they all staring at me like that?”As I kept walking, it only got worse. The whispers grew louder with every step I took. “Oh my God, that’s her—”“She actually—”“I’m telling you, he kissed her—”“I saw the video—”Video? My steps halted for a second. What video are they talking about? Before I could p

More like a warning to play along.Oh.I get it now. This was just a performance.“I—” I swallowed, forcing my voice to remain steady. “Maybe don’t say stupid things to me next time…baby.”A ripple of reaction spread through the room instantly, a few amused looks on most of their faces.“I promise it won’t happen again,” he murmured, his lips twitching slightly like he was enjoying this way too much. Then, like he suddenly remembered we had an audience, his gaze shifted, landing on a familiar figure who stood across the room. The same girl who’d been gr

  • Fake Dating the arrogant hockey Captain    The Party I shouldn’t have come to

Lila’s POVI stood in front of my mirror for a full ten minutes, staring at my reflection like it was going to suddenly tell me the right decision to make.My outfit was already picked out—a simple black top and fitted jeans, nothing too much, nothing too little. My hair fell over my shoulders in soft waves, and I’d redone my lip gloss twice already.I don’t need Cole.Right? That thought had been on repeat in my head ever since I walked out on him at the library. I grabbed my phone, staring at the screen like maybe—just maybe—there’d be a message from him.But there wasn’t.I couldn’t expect anything good from an arrogant jerk like him. Before my brain could over think it, I snatched my bag off the bed and headed for the door.**************Ryan’s house was already pulsing with music by the time I got there, bass thumping in a way I could feel in my chest before I even stepped inside. The front door was wide open, people spilling in and out like they owned the place.I hesitated on

  • Fake Dating the arrogant hockey Captain    The Deal Cracks

Lila’s POVI pushed open the heavy glass doors of the school library, still unable to get over the fact that Ryan had just spoken to me in the hallway. I’d spent the rest of the day replaying it like a broken record. And now, here I was, about to keep my end of the deal with Cole Harrison.I spotted him immediately. He was sprawled across one of the tables, as if he owned the place, his long legs stretched out. His chair was tipped slightly back on two legs—completely ignoring the giant “NO TIPPING CHAIRS” sign right behind him. His backpack sat unopened on the table, and instead of a notebook, he had his phone in his hand, lazily scrolling. Here we go, LilaI inhaled slowly, tightening my grip on my books as I began to make my way toward him. You can do this, Lila. It’s just tutoring.Just…ignore the fact that he's an annoying jerk.“Wow,” Cole’s voice cut through my thoughts the second I stepped closer, not even bothering to look up. “You actually showed up.”I dropped my books o
