“Why the h*ll did you shove her? Are you out of your fucking mind?” Jessa yelled the moment Blaine stepped back into the van. Her face was red with rage, her hands clenched tightly at her sides. What annoyed her the most wasn’t even what he’d done, it was the smug smile plastered across his face, like he was proud of himself. He knew that such action could have ruined everything they had carefully planned out and he still went on to do something crazy.

Blaine shut the van door behind him and shrugged casually.

“She didn’t get run over. That’s what matters,” he said calmly. “All I did was give her a little shove. She froze up. She wasn’t ready to stop the car. If I hadn’t done something, she would’ve let him drive off and you wouldn't have liked that. Isn’t that what you wanted?"

Jessa groaned loudly and dragged a hand through her hair. “You could have gotten her killed,” she snapped. “Do you even understand what would have happened if that car hadn’t stopped in time? all of this would have been all for nothing, we would be done for"

Blaine rolled his eyes and leaned back against the side of the van.

“But it did stop,” he replied. “And didn’t things work out in the end? She finally got Max Hult’s attention. Isn’t that the whole point of this? Or did you forget why we’re doing all of this in the first place?”

Jessa turned away from him, pacing the length of the van.

“We would have been in a hot mess with the boss if things had gone wrong,” she said tightly. “Next time, don’t do anything without giving me a heads-up. I don’t care how confident you feel. don't ever do something crazy like this like this again. I've had enough of your crazy stunts."

“Loosen up, Jessa,” Blaine said with a lazy smirk. “You should be worried about more important things.”

Jessa stopped abruptly and glared at him, her mouth opening to fire back, but she stopped herself. Instead, she turned to Rico, who hadn’t said a word since they left the scene. He was seated in the front, focused on a small screen in his hands, his fingers moving quickly.

“Do you know where they’re taking her?” Jessa asked, her voice calmer but still tense.

Rico didn’t look up immediately, his eyes still glued to his screen like he didn't want to lose concentration.

“Not yet,” he replied. “But let’s see.”

He tapped a few buttons, then turned the screen so they could see it.

“I slipped a tracker into her purse before she got out of the van,” he added. “As long as she still has it, we’ll know exactly where she is.”

Jessa nodded, letting out a slow breath. At least one thing had gone according to plan and Rico wasn't acting up like the fool beside her. that would have been too much for her to handle.

"Alright let's go" Blaine said and started the car.

__________

They parked across the street from the hospital and waited.

And waited.

Time dragged on painfully slow. The rain had stopped, but the night air was cold and heavy. Hours passed with no sign of Max Hult’s car leaving the hospital parking lot.

Blaine shifted impatiently in his seat.

“What do you think is going on in there? are you sure she was brought here" he asked.

"Yes blaine. this signals stopped right here" Rico answered and almost rolled his eyes.

“Do you think he’s suspicious?” Blaine continued with his questions. and Jessa let out a deep sigh.

“What do you think?” she shot back. “He wouldn’t have a reason to be if you hadn’t shoved her like that. You almost ruined everything.”

Blaine scoffed.

“No one noticed the push,” he said. “And be honest, do you really think she would’ve gotten his attention if I hadn’t done that? She stood there like a log of wood, ready to let him drive off. I did us a favor.”

Jessa clenched her jaw. Part of her hated to admit it, but he wasn’t entirely wrong. Still, the risk he’d taken made her stomach twist.

Before she could respond, Rico finally spoke up.

“Enough,” he said firmly. “What matters is that today was a success. She’s in Max Hult’s head now. That’s all that counts. We wait and watch. Let’s see what he does next.”

Blaine sighed loudly.

“And how long do we have to wait? It’s been over three hours already.”

Jessa shot him a sharp glare.

“As long as it takes.”

He raised his hands in mock surrender.

“We could just call her,” he suggested. “Ask how things are going in there.”

He reached for the burner phone, already dialing, but Rico snatched it out of his hand before he could press call.

“No,” Rico said sharply. “Max could be close to her. We can’t take any chances.”

Blaine groaned and leaned his head back against the seat.

“This is ridiculous,” he muttered. “I’m starving. It’s late, and all we’ve had today is breakfast.”

“Stop complaining,” Jessa snapped. “Food should be the least of your worries right now. I’m sure you know how the boss would react if I told him how you almost messed things up today.”

She was about to say more when Blaine suddenly leaned forward, pointing out the window.

“Isn’t that his car?” he asked.

All three of them turned to look.

A sleek black car slowly pulled out of the hospital parking lot and Jessa narrowed her eyes.

“That’s him,” she said quietly.

“Is she in there with him?” Blaine asked.

No one answered.

The windows were tinted too dark to see inside.

“It doesn’t matter,” Jessa said after a moment. “Either she’s with him, or she’s still inside. What matters is that she finally got his attention.”

Rico nodded.

“And now,” he added, “we can finally get to work.”

  • Fake Marriage With The Mysterious Billionaire    chapter 27

The moment they stepped fully onto the grounds, Mia knew she was in trouble when heads turned and the conversations of pepole paused. Eyes followed them in a way that made her skin prickle. It wasn’t just that she was surrounded by people who clearly belonged in this world of wealth and elegance, it was the shock written plainly on their faces. Max Hult was known for many things, but attending parties was not one of them. He was known notoriously for never attending any social gatherings even the ones from his extended family. He was so private that people barely knew things about him except what he wanted them to know. But here he was at a party, not only was he at a party he was attending with a woman on his arm? Unthinkable. Mia felt it immediately, the weight of their stares pressing down on her chest, making it hard to breathe. If Max hadn’t been beside her, she was certain she would have turned around and fled back to the car without a second thought. She wanted to be an

Chapter 26 Mia was expecting to see the same driver that had brought them to the estate from the hospital. She remembered how polite he was. So when the driver’s door opened and the man from the study stepped out instead, her steps faltered. she remembered the way he stared at her when she saw him in Max study like he suspected her. “Oh,” she said softly, confusion flickering across her face. Scott smiled easily as he opened the back door. “Good evening, Miss.” Mia nodded awkwardly and glanced toward Max. Max’s expression barely shifted, but she noticed it, the brief pause, the slight narrowing of his eyes. He had clearly been expecting Gerald too. “Gerald mentioned he had something to take care of,” Scott said casually, as though sensing the unspoken question. “I told him I’d drive tonight.” Max studied him for a moment, then simply nodded. He said nothing more. Instead, he stepped forward and opened the car door for Mia. She hesitated, then accepted his hand as she lowe

The next day passed in a blur Mia could barely keep up with. It started with Clara. By midmorning, Mia was seated once again in the living room, her posture stiff and her hands folded neatly in her lap as Clara launched into yet another round of wedding discussions. Tablets, fabric samples, guest lists, and venue layouts littered the coffee table, each one representing a decision Mia never imagined she would be making, especially not for a wedding that didn’t feel like hers. Clara talked endlessly. About flowers. About seating arrangements. About themes and color palettes and photographers. Mia nodded when expected, muttered agreement when prompted, but her mind was elsewhere. She kept glancing at the clock, the steady ticking making her chest tighten with every passing minute. Max didn’t show up for breakfast. He didn’t show up for lunch either. Part of her was relieved. The other part was unsettled. She didn’t know which feeling scared her more. Anyone would have been ex

Lunch was the first moment of relief Mia had experienced all day. Clara finally closed her tablet with a satisfied nod, announcing that they would continue later in the afternoon, and for the first time since morning, Mia felt like she could breathe again. Her head was pounding from decisions she didn’t care about, like flowers, seating arrangements, lighting, venues that all sounded far too grand for something that still felt unreal. She wanted to go up to her room and take a nap because that was her only escape away from the reality she was living in, but she knew a knock on her door from Melissa would wake her up. She was led into the dining room once more. This time, Max was already there. The moment Mia saw him seated at the head of the table, something in her chest tightened. She slowed instinctively, her steps hesitant, as though she might turn around if given the chance. But the maid behind her pulled out a chair, and Mia sat down stiffly. The table was set elegant

Max left his study quietly, closing the door behind him with a soft click. The house was calm in that peculiar way it always was too quiet for something that held so many people within its walls. It had been that way for as long as he could remember. As he walked down the corridor, he slowed his steps when voices drifted toward him from the living room. Mia’s voice and Clara’s, he could also hear Melissa speaking. Max stopped just short of the doorway, positioning himself where he could hear without being seen. He wasn’t intentionally spying, but instinct had pulled him to pause. Something about the tone of the conversation made him listen. “…for the guest list, we’ll need to consider at least three hundred people,” Clara was saying briskly, her voice efficient and confident, the voice of someone who had planned more weddings than she could count. “Your family, Mr. Hult’s associates, business partners, friends, and of course the press..." “The press?” Mia repeated faintly. “Ye

Max sat alone in his study, the room was almost pin drop silent except for the sound of the computer in front of him as he tapped on the keyboard. The ring box rested in his hand. It was empty now and the ring now had a new owner but he still held it. His thumb brushed over the velvet box absentmindedly as his eyes stayed fixed on the screen. The lights in the room were dim, casting long shadows across the shelves lined with books he rarely touched anymore. The video played again. Max leaned back in his chair, his jaw tight as he watched it unfold for what felt like the hundredth time. Mia stood by the side of the road, just outside the hotel where the gala had been held. She wasn’t moving much. Just standing there. Still and unsure. People passed by her, some stopping briefly, others not paying attention at all. Max’s eyes narrowed slightly. He had noticed that part from the beginning. The video skipped forward a few seconds and he watched it again like he had done dozens o
