Lila POV

"Ryan, stop! You're hurting me!" I cried out as he dragged me through the hallway.

But he did not stop. He did not slow down. He did not even look back at me.

I could hear Cassandra's voice behind us, calling his name over and over. "Ryan! Baby, where are you going? Ryan, wait for me!"

He ignored her completely. It was like she did not exist.

Students jumped out of our way as Ryan pulled me along. Their eyes were wide with shock, their mouths open with curiosity. This was not normal. Ryan never talked to me at school, and he certainly never touched me like this.

We reached the stairs, and Ryan kept moving. He dragged me down the first flight, then stopped suddenly at the corner where no one could see us. The space was small and dark, hidden from the main hallway.

He released my wrist and stood there, breathing hard. His chest was rising and falling like he had just run a marathon. His eyes were burning with an emotion I had never seen before.

Anger. Pure, raw anger.

"Ryan, what is wrong with you?" I asked, rubbing my wrist where his fingers had gripped too tight.

"What is wrong with me?" he repeated, his voice getting louder. "What is wrong with you, Lila?"

I took a step back. Ryan had never yelled at me before. Never.

"I do not understand," I whispered.

"You do not understand?" Ryan laughed, but it was not a happy sound. It was bitter and cold. "Let me explain it to you then. Last night, I lost the biggest game of my life. My dreams died on that ice because of Derek Stone. And today, I find out that my own sister is dating him?"

The word "sister" felt like a knife in my heart. That was all I would ever be to him. Just his sister.

"Ryan, it is not like that," I started to say.

"Then what is it like?" he demanded, stepping closer to me. "Because from where I was standing, it looked exactly like that. You were kissing him, Lila. In the middle of the school hallway. Where everyone could see you."

My face burned with shame. The kiss had been Derek's idea. Part of the act. Part of the deal. But I could not tell Ryan any of that.

"He is my boyfriend," I said quietly, the lie tasting like ash in my mouth.

"Your boyfriend?" Ryan's voice cracked on the word. "Since when? Yesterday you hated him. You told me a hundred times that he was arrogant and mean. You said you would never speak to him. And now he is your boyfriend?"

I stayed silent because I did not know what to say. Everything was so complicated. Derek had my secrets. Cassandra had my past. And Ryan had my heart without even knowing it.

"You know what this looks like, right?" Ryan continued, his voice getting angrier. "It looks like you waited until I lost. It looks like you waited until Derek destroyed my career, and then you ran straight into his arms. Like you were celebrating my failure."

"No!" I cried out, tears burning my eyes. "I would never do that to you! You have to believe me!"

"Then explain it to me!" Ryan shouted. "Because right now, Lila, I feel like you stabbed me in the back. Right after my worst moment, you go and kiss my biggest enemy. Do you have any idea how that makes me feel?"

His words hit me like punches. I had never thought about it that way. I had been so focused on keeping my secrets safe that I had not considered how this would look to Ryan.

"I did not betray you," I whispered, my voice shaking.

"It sure feels like you did," Ryan said coldly.

The pain in his eyes was breaking my heart into a million pieces. He looked hurt, confused, and angry all at the same time. I wanted to tell him everything. I wanted to explain that this was all fake, that I did not want to be with Derek, that the only person I wanted was him.

But I could not.

"Ryan, please listen to me," I begged. "Derek and I—"

"Derek and you what?" Ryan interrupted. "Are in love? Going to get married? Have babies together?"

"No! It is not—"

"Not what? Not serious? Because that kiss looked pretty serious to me."

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. I had to say something. I had to make him understand without revealing the truth.

"I did not betray you," I said again, more firmly this time. "The timing was just bad. I did not plan for any of this to happen."

Ryan stared at me with those beautiful eyes that had haunted my dreams for three years. "You could have anyone, Lila. Anyone in this entire school. Why him? Why the one person who destroyed everything I worked for?"

Because he is blackmailing me, I wanted to scream. Because he has my secrets and I have no choice.

But the words stayed trapped in my throat.

"I cannot explain it," I said finally. "I just—"

The sound of high heels clicking on the stairs cut me off. My heart dropped into my stomach as I recognized that sound.

Cassandra appeared at the top of the stairs, her blonde hair perfect, her smile sweet as poison.

"There you are, baby!" she called out to Ryan. "I have been looking everywhere for you!"

She started walking down the stairs toward us, and I felt my whole body go tense.

No. Not now. Not here.

"Ryan," I said quickly, desperately trying to finish what I was saying. "I did not betray—"

But Cassandra had already reached us, and she wrapped her arms around Ryan like he belonged to her.

And maybe he did.

Lila POVThe rest of the day passed in a blur of congratulations and relief.Students kept coming up to me in the hallways telling me they were happy I got to stay. Teachers who had been cold to me for weeks suddenly smiled when I walked past. Even some of the people who had been featured in my stories approached to say they forgave me.Derek and I barely had a moment alone all day. Between classes and talking to people and dealing with the aftermath of everything, we were constantly surrounded. But finally, after school ended, Derek texted me asking if I could come over to his house. His real house, not James's place where he had been hiding. My mother actually agreed to let me go, which was shocking in itself. I think she was just so relieved I was not getting expelled that she was being more lenient than usual.Derek picked me up in his car, and we drove to his house in comfortable silence. Both of us were emotionally exhausted from the intensity of the day. When we pulled into his

Lila POVI could not stop crying. The tears kept coming in waves, but they were different from all the tears I had cried over the past weeks. These were not tears of shame or fear or despair. These were tears of relief so profound that my whole body shook with them.I turned in Derek's arms so I was facing him fully and threw my arms around his neck, holding him as tightly as I could."Thank you," I sobbed into his shoulder. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot believe you did all of this for me. I cannot believe any of this is real."Derek held me just as tightly, his own tears wetting my hair. "I told you I would fight for you. I told you I would not let them send you away.""I know, but I did not really believe it would work. I thought for sure they would expel me anyway. I thought I would be on that train tonight." I pulled back to look at his face. "You saved me, Derek. You literally saved my entire life.""We saved you," Derek corrected, nodding toward where Ryan stood nea

Lila POV"Miss Richmond, the administration has decided not to expel you."The words hung in the air for a moment before I could process them. Not expel. They were not expelling me."However," Principal Hayes continued before the relief could fully sink in, "there must be consequences for violating school policy. The content you created was inappropriate regardless of the circumstances surrounding how it became public."I nodded quickly, willing to accept whatever punishment they gave me as long as I got to stay."Therefore, Miss Richmond will be required to complete one hundred hours of community service to be finished before the end of this school year. This service must be approved by the administration and will be monitored to ensure completion."One hundred hours. That was a lot, but it was doable. It was so much better than expulsion."Additionally," Vice Principal Morrison added, "Miss Richmond will be required to meet with the school counselor weekly for the remainder of the s

Lila POVI could barely breathe as I waited for Principal Hayes to finish her statement. What did "viewed in full context" mean? Were they still going to expel me? Was there some punishment coming that would be almost as bad as expulsion? My whole body had started shaking. I could feel tremors running through my hands, my legs, even my jaw was trembling uncontrollably. The suspense was unbearable.Suddenly, I felt a hand slip into mine from behind. I turned slightly and saw Derek had gotten up from the witness table and moved to stand directly behind my chair. He squeezed my hand tightly, leaning down just enough to whisper in my ear."Breathe, Lila. Just breathe. Everything is going to be alright."His voice was steady and calm, completely at odds with the chaos I felt inside. I wanted to believe him. Wanted to trust that after everything we had been through, this would somehow work out.But I was terrified. My mother noticed Derek holding my hand and for a moment I thought she might

Lila POVPrincipal Hayes looked down at the papers in front of her, then back up at the audience."This has been one of the most difficult decisions the administration has had to make in recent years," she began, her voice echoing through the silent auditorium. "The circumstances surrounding Miss Richmond's case are complex and involve multiple parties, multiple violations, and significant questions about responsibility and accountability."My heart was racing so fast I thought I might pass out. My mother's hand found mine under the table and squeezed it hard, though I could not tell if she was offering comfort or just as nervous as I was."Let me start by being absolutely clear about the severity of what occurred," Principal Hayes continued. "Miss Richmond created sexually explicit content featuring real students at this school. She wrote detailed scenarios involving classmates, teachers, and most troublingly, her own stepbrother. This content was graphic in nature and involved minor

Derek POVThe applause continued as I stepped away from the podium, my legs feeling weak beneath me.I had just exposed everything. Every weakness. Every mistake. Every private struggle I had been hiding for years. And I had done it in front of the entire school.Part of me wanted to run off the stage and hide. But I forced myself to walk calmly down the steps, keeping my head up even though my hands were still shaking. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I expected to head back to the witness table where I had been sitting. But I found my path blocked. My father stood there. The security guards had released him at some point during my speech, and now he stood just a few feet away from me, his face wet with tears.I had never seen my father cry. Not even at my mother's funeral. He had stood stoic and silent through the entire service, his face like stone while I sobbed into his shoulder. But now tears were streaming down his face openly, and he made no attempt to hide them.We star
