BRADFORD'S POV

“I'll need to speak with the architect myself,” I said to my manager as we walked side by side on the east wing terrace, heading towards the waters.

I lifted my gaze slightly as I continued, “The west wing will need to be—”

I couldn’t finish the sentence.

I stopped in my tracks and slowly took off my glasses, narrowing my eyes slightly in the direction of the pool, just to be sure I wasn't imagining it, even though I was certain of who I was seeing.

Lynette.

  • Falling For His Nemesis    The slip during dinner

LYNETTE'S POVThe cool evening air hit my skin as soon as we stepped outside. The air was now softer and calmer, compared to the daytime's, but it wasn’t able to calm my nerves. We saw the restaurant as we got closer. It was set along the edge of the cliff, glowing softly under warm lights. The sea stretched endlessly beyond it as the last traces of sunlight dipped beneath the horizon. It looked dreamy and…breathtaking. Just like everything else in this place. I took in the view as we continued walking. As soon as we got to the restaurant a staff member approached us almost immediately, like he had been waiting for us.“Ms Evans, Ms Jones,” he said politely with a welcoming smile. “This way, please.”Gabrielle and I looked at each other, a little surprised and at the same… impressed. Though I tried to keep mine subtle, Gabrielle on the other hand, was basking in the moment and she had no problem making it noticeable. We followed him through the space, walked past other tables, until

  • Falling For His Nemesis    I didn’t want him to stop

LYNETTE'S POV Bradford suddenly stopped responding, and I could feel his eyes on me. I paused, then slowly looked up from his phone to meet his gaze—I regretted doing that cause the moment I did… our eyes locked, and for some reason, I couldn't look away. Then he started to lean closer slowly, still staring into my eyes. ‘Oh my God. Is he going to…?’ My breath caught slightly, but I didn’t step back. No. I couldn’t step back. He kept leaning closer, and I still stood frozen in place, even when my mind was screaming that I should move. It was like I had forgotten how to. He got so close that I could now feel his warm breath brushing against my lips. My heart was pounding so loudly in my ears that I was sure he could hear it. My lips parted slightly, not sure if it was to say something to stop him, or… “Mr King,” the voice cut in sharply from behind him, breaking the moment. Shit. My heart stopped for a second. My eyes widened a little. Bradford paused mid-

I stopped in my tracks and slowly took off my glasses, narrowing my eyes slightly in the direction of the pool, just to be sure I wasn't imagining it, even though I was certain of who I was seeing. Lynette. She was stepping out of the pool in slow, deliberate steps. Water tracing down her skin as she pushed her hair back, completely unaware of the attention she was drawing. Or maybe she was. My lips parted slightly as I stared at her in awe. I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t bring myself to. It was like I hadn’t seen such a sight before. When in fact I've seen many women in bikinis. Way too many. Different kinds of women, beautiful and even curvier ones, but I've never looked at any twice. But th

  • Falling For His Nemesis    Breath of Freedom

LYNETTE'S POVFew days laterIt was around midday. I decided to step outside of my suite to see the view since it was almost dark when we arrived yesterday, and I've had my eyes fixed on my tablet since I had breakfast this morning. The sun hit my face the moment I stepped out, making my eyes closed reflexively for a second. When I opened my eyes, my gaze drifted slowly across the view before me. The first thing that struck me was the white walls cascading down the cliffside like something out of a dream, kissed by the sunlight and softened by shadows. I looked beyond it, and it was the amazing view of the endless stretch of blue…the sea blending so seamlessly with the sky that it felt like the world had simply…faded into calm.It didn't feel real.It felt like somewhere people could escape to when life became too much. And for a moment…I almost let myself. I leaned slightly against the railing, breathing in softly as the breeze brushed past me, carrying the faint scent of salt a

  • Falling For His Nemesis    Nothing more

NICHOLAS’S POVAfter I tried using Maya to get Lynette out of my head and failed, I buried myself in work, meetings, paperworks, even reading emails and taking some calls I wouldn't usually answer myself, all so I wouldn't have to think of Lynette.I even stayed in the office later than I had ever been, so she would be in bed by the time I got home.I just needed to avoid her, if only for tonight, and maybe all those weird and unwanted feelings, or whatever they were, would be gone by morning. That's what I told myself before I finally pushed the door open and stepped into the house. It felt really quiet. There's no sound coming from the kitchen or anywhere in the house. It was almost like she wasn't home. But I knew she was. Probably in bed already. The tension in my chest eased slightly.I loosened my tie, already thinking of anything else that would get my mind off of her, maybe a cold shower first. I walked towards the counter to drop my keys, and that's when I saw her.I paused

  • Falling For His Nemesis    What was that?

LYNETTE'S POV“What the hell?” I muttered. My brows drew together in shock and confusion as I stared at the screen for a moment before putting it back to my ear.“Lynette…” she breathed “tell me you're not kidding.”I frowned slightly even though she couldn’t see me. “I wish I was.” She probably didn't notice the slight irritation in my tone, or maybe she chose to ignore it, cause she squealed again, louder this time.I winced. For Christ's sake what's gotten into her?“Oh my God,” her voice came again but she sounded out of breath now, no surprise there. “Oh my God, Lynette, do you know how long I've wanted to go there?”My eyes closed briefly as a defeated sigh slowly escaped me.Of course this was her reaction. I'd completely forgotten it was on her bucket list to take a trip to that place. There went my plan.“Gabrielle—” I attempted to remind her of my plight, maybe that would make her sacrifice this opportunity, but she didn’t let me.But then, knowing how obsessed Gabrielle h

  • Falling For His Nemesis    It has to be tonight

LYNETTE'S POV Nicholas turned slowly…too slowly, as if he was scared to look back, his fists clenched at his sides. His mother’s voice filled the room again. “I’m good, dear. How are you two lovebirds doing?” she asked in her usual teasing tone. Before I knew it, Nicholas moved very fast and

  • Falling For His Nemesis    He found me

LYNETTE'S POVI stared at him in surprise. And he just held my gaze steadily, completely unbothered by the heavy silence between us.A smirk was playing on his lips, so I wanted to believe he was joking, but the look in his eyes told me he wasn't.He was standing so close to me, that the memory fro

  • Falling For His Nemesis    Two red lines

BRADFORD'S POVThree weeks laterLate morning sunlight spilled across my office, turning the glass walls into mirrors of the skyline outside. From up here, the city looked calm. But calm wasn’t the word for what had been happening inside my head.I stood near the window with one hand in my pocket,

  • Falling For His Nemesis    Men like Bradford King

LYNETTE'S POV My vision blurred instantly. I breathed out shakily as the realization began to settle in.I didn’t even know when the tears started falling down my cheeks.I had always imagined what it would feel like to have my own child. My own little family. And now…now it's finally happening.T
