It had been a truly strenuous day. Every part of it was hard. Vincenzo had to deal with endless meetings, difficult strategy sessions, and constant damage control after another small fight, a minor uprising in the northern territories of his empire. He was completely drained. All he wanted was to get to his home, take a hot shower, have a glass of scotch, and finally be in bed with Daisy. He craved the simple peace she brought him.

He was so tired his body moved on its own. He unbuttoned his shirt as he entered the bedroom, letting it hang loosely off his broad shoulders. His tie was already thrown on the floor somewhere down the hallway. His steps were heavy and slow, a normal routine driven by the muscle memory of being exhausted. He was so tired he could barely think.

But when he pushed open the bathroom door, what he saw instantly made his body stiff. His spine went straight, a jolt of disbelief shooting through him.

Arianna.

She was naked. Standing under the steam of his shower.

Vincenzo’s own fury exploded. He stood up too, his towering height making Antonio seem small. “You and I both know that’s bullshit, Antonio! You have every right? You sent my men to their deaths! You sabotaged my business! The only reason why I’m not taking away your chances completely, why I’m not casting you out, is because of your mother, Madonna! Her memory, her wishes! After everything I’ve given up just for you, every sacrifice I’ve made, you chose to betray me. You should be lucky to still have your life right now! You should be grateful you’re still standing here!” Vincenzo’s voice thundered in the room. Antonio scoffed. “So this was your plan all along, wasn’t it? This is just an excuse! I always knew you had no intention of keeping your word. You were just using me until something better came along. Daisy comes into your life, that… that outsider, and suddenly you toss me aside! You put her above me! And you stand here talking about your sacrifices? If you really want me to

The week that followed was unlike any other in Vincenzo’s life. Since Daisy had been kidnapped and then brought back, safe but deeply shaken, Vincenzo had barely left her side. The fear of losing her had changed something inside him, making his protective nature even stronger. He spent hours, often late into the night, personally tending to her wounds. He would carefully clean the cuts and bruises, changing the bandages with gentle hands. He spoke to her softly, making sure she knew she was safe, that he was there. He watched over her until every single mark on her skin was completely healed. Now that Vincenzo was certain that Daisy was okay, he decided to focus on other pressing issues. His mind was anything but peaceful. He sat alone in his large, quiet study. He had spent days thinking about Antonio’s betrayal. He had replayed every detail Matteo had confessed. He had weighed his options, his anger fighting with a sense of duty. Finally, after much painful thought, he had made a d

Giovanni’s face twisted into a mask of fury. Her words had touched a nerve. He suddenly kicked her stomach hard. Daisy lost her balance on the chair and fell backwards, the chair crashing loudly against the dirty concrete floor. The ropes dug into her skin. A sharp pain shot through her abdomen. He stood over her, his eyes blazing. “You are not my daughter!” he snarled, his voice loud and full of hatred. “You are the bastard child of a whore! You should never address yourself as such again!”Daisy lay on the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood. Her head throbbed. Tears welled up in her eyes, not from pain, but from the raw hatred in his voice. She closed her eyes for a moment, praying silently. Please, let me survive this. Just this one time. Let me get through this.Back at his mansion, Vincenzo was pacing around his study, like a caged lion. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, imagining the worst. His men were out, searching every corner of the city, but the silence from them

Daisy was just stepping out of her warm shower. The steam still clung to her skin, making her feel soft and clean. She wrapped a thick, soft towel around herself and walked towards the bedroom. Just as she did, her phone, sitting on the bedside table, began to ring loudly. She looked at the screen. It was an unknown number. She was just about to answer. But then, she saw the contact name appear on the screen: it was her father. Her breath caught in her throat. Her heart gave a sudden, hard thump.A cold wave of fear washed over her. She tried to stay calm, to breathe evenly, but fear started to creep into her bones. Why is he calling me? she thought. What does he want? The phone kept ringing, buzzing loudly against the wood of the table. She stared at it, her hand hovering, but she couldn’t bring herself to answer. She just let it ring until it stopped. The silence that followed felt even heavier than the ringing. She put on her clothes, but the feeling of worry stayed with her, like

After a while, Marco finally spoke. He kept his voice low, almost a whisper. “Daisy,” he began, his face serious. “You do know what you’re doing is risky. This is very dangerous. If we truly have a traitor among us, and they discover you’re trying to find them out, then you’ll be in grave danger. Your life could be at risk.” He wanted to make sure she understood the full weight of her actions.Daisy met his gaze. Her eyes showed no fear. “I know, Marco,” she answered. “And I’m already a part of this world. There’s no going back for me now. I swore an oath.” She paused. “So I might as well be useful. I might as well help protect the man who is trying to protect me.”Marco sighed again. He seemed to understand her decision, even if he didn’t fully agree with the risk. He handed her a document, a fresh stack of papers they hadn’t looked at yet. “Then let’s find out who our traitor is,” he said. Together, they continued their painstaking search, poring over numbers and dates, looking for

The next morning, the big Marino house slowly started to wake up. It was very early. The first light of dawn painted the sky outside the mansion’s tall windows, making everything glow a little. Daisy, waking earlier than usual, found herself drawn by the sounds and smells from the kitchen. She followed the soft clinking of pots and the warm scent of coffee. Inside, she saw Maria already busy. Maria was moving around the large kitchen, preparing breakfast all by herself.Daisy stepped into the warm kitchen. The air was filled with the smell of freshly brewed coffee and frying bacon. “Good morning, Maria,” she said, her voice soft. “What are you doing, up so early? And why are you doing all the work by yourself?” Daisy walked over to the counter, pulling on a clean apron. She immediately started to help Maria, picking up a bowl of eggs and a whisk.Maria looked at Daisy and smiled, a tired but kind smile. “Good morning, Daisy. This is nothing, really. The other maids are busy with their
