LOGINLily sat down at the dressing table and watched her face in the mirror. Her heart felt more and more burdened every day. My name is Lily, and my husband is an ice cube. She laughed cynically at what she was thinking. In fact, it’s even more than that…
Ethan’s reputation as a cold, unyielding CEO preceded him. He was a man of few words; those who met him admired his authority and respected his commands. She had been in love with him since they were both young and innocent. Still, those times now seemed like distant history.
She began to remember her childhood days. Lily’s parents were employed by the kind Mr. Gray, who began caring for her after something bad happened to her. Her parents were taken away from her by an accident when she was only ten, which made everything around her seem enormous. Ethan’s parents expanded her family by providing her a house and a sense of belonging.
They had loved and cuddled her as if she were their own family member. When she was ready to marry, their choice made everything different. They believed her marriage to Ethan would develop into a beautiful relationship. Even so, Ethan had not bought into everything they wanted. He did not want to be in this marriage, and it was plain from his behavior.
Lily felt her heart break when she remembered their wedding. She imagined what her life could be with him, but Ethan just watched without really caring. It seemed like he was standing next to a total stranger, not to the girl who had loved him.He never talks well to me, Lily thought, her heart sinking further. He scolds me for the smallest mistakes as if I were a child. She had tried to be the perfect wife, but nothing she did seemed to penetrate the icy barrier he had built around himself.
It seemed to Lily there was no chance of him falling in love with her or changing. At the same time, she still told herself that she loved him. It felt as if the love she had brought her was nothing but grief and constant unhappiness. Their living space was one, but they shared nothing inside it.Because he was CEO of his father’s company, Ethan spent most of his time on work. He worked steadily, wanted to achieve big things, and was entirely dedicated to his compositions. Still, Lily chose her own road and got a job with another firm to make a living. She didn’t want to inconvenience others, mainly because Ethan rarely said anything to her.

I am trying my best to make this marriage last long… I love him very much… but… She sighed, running her fingers through her hair. He never even tries, and this makes me so upset and all alone. and now I know why, he had his love already, and I am between them.
Almost every day seemed to be about fighting the walls that came between them. Her desire for him to show love and see her as he passed them by was not met. She felt that life would not be fair until he loved her like she loved him.
Things at home were quiet and full of desperation day after day. There were some ups and downs; perhaps it just appeared to us as a normal marriage, she would try to tell herself. Every morning, she’d wake up while the sun was still low outside, cook breakfast, and make sure her husband was well cared for. He really hated going out to eat and would always choose home cooking. That way, she packed his lunch almost every day, neatly arranging what he liked best inside, in the hope that he would really acknowledge her efforts.
He loves to read books, she mused as she cleaned his study room, dusting the shelves filled with novels and business tomes. She took pride in keeping the space immaculate, but there was an unspoken rule: she couldn’t touch his things. The thought of moving a single book or shifting a paper felt like a betrayal. It was a reminder of the boundaries he had set, a line she dared not cross.
When she was sorting through the room, she suddenly felt very sad. It’s unclear to me when he will start to feel the same about me. All the moments that passed reminded me of her unrealized hopes. She’d been hoping that day would arrive, when he’d finally welcome her as a companion and partner, not only as someone he needed to care for. She quickly wiped the tear from her eye to stop herself from feeling overwhelmed.
Lily's head spun, a wave of dizziness washing over her. She felt a sudden surge of nausea, and before she could react, she was dashing towards the bathroom. She barely made it to the toilet before she was retching violently, her body convulsing as she threw up.
She collapsed onto the floor, her back against the cool wall as she continued to vomit. Her stomach churned, and her throat burned. She felt weak and disoriented her mind foggy.
As she sat there, helpless and miserable, Lily couldn't shake the feeling that something was seriously wrong. She didn't understand what was happening to her body. The nausea, the dizziness – it all felt so overwhelming.
She leaned forward, her head resting on her knees, and waited for the wave of sickness to pass. But it seemed to linger, leaving her feeling drained and bewildered. What was going on with her? And why did she feel so awful?

Lewis sat in the meeting room, his expression calm and collected as the project head, James Warner, and his team presented their findings. Lewis remained silent, not uttering a single word, his gaze fixed intently on the presentation. Oliver, who had worked with Lewis for years, noticed his boss's demeanor and felt a sense of unease. He knew that a silent Lewis was often a sign of an impending storm. As the presentation concluded, James smiled, expecting approval from his boss. Without any comments or questions, Lewis's silence seemed almost palpable. James glanced at his team, and they all looked relieved. Over the past three years, Lewis had become even more stringent and cold in his expectations. As Lewis stood up to leave, the room fell into an awkward silence. Everyone was confused, unsure of what to make of Lewis's reaction. Oliver hesitated for a moment before speaking up softly, "Sir, didn't you have any comments?"Lewis's expression remained unreadable as he turned to Oliver,
The meeting commenced with a sense of anticipation and importance. The conference room was filled with key stakeholders from both Hamilton Corp. and Smith & Co. At the helm of Smith & Co. was Evelyn Smith, a sharp and astute CEO, whose father, Arthur Smith, had been a close friend of Edward's father. The familiarity between the two families was evident as Edward and Evelyn exchanged warm smiles, reminiscing about their school days.Lily, who had been preparing for this meeting for weeks, stood confidently at the presentation screen, ready to lead the discussion. Edward sat beside her, observing with a keen eye, his presence a testament to his role as her superior."Good morning, everyone," Lily began, her voice clear and professional. "Today, we'll be discussing the details of our proposed partnership and the specifics of the project. I'll walk you through the key points and highlights."Evelyn nodded, her eyes fixed on Lily's presentation. "Please proceed, Lily. We're eager to hear y
Three years had passed, and Lauren, or Lorry as Lily affectionately called her, had grown into a precocious and endearing child. The kitchen, once a place of solitary contemplation for Lily, was now filled with laughter and the clatter of tiny utensils. On this particular morning, Lily stood by the stove, her eyes fixed on her little daughter, who sat on a miniature chair, looking like a tiny queen in her kingdom."Hey Lorry , what do you want for breakfast, sweetie?" Lily asked, her voice warm with affection. Lorry looked up at her mother with big, round eyes that sparkled with a maturity beyond her years. She pondered the question for a moment, her small hands clasped together in her lap."Whatever you like, Mommy," Lorry replied, her voice soft but firm. "Whatever you make, I like." Lily's heart swelled with love and a tinge of nostalgia as she heard the words. There was something about Lorry’s response that reminded her of Lewis, Lorry’s father. The way she phrased her words, th
Standing in the doorway was the same stranger who had intervened in the altercation with Jackson at the restaurant. He smiled warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I've been trying to call you, but I guess you already left. You dropped your purse at the restaurant, so I thought I'd return it to you."Mia's eyes widened as she took in the familiar purse in his hand. "Oh, thank you so much!" she exclaimed, her voice a little breathless.Just then, her mother appeared behind her. "Mia, who's at the door?" she asked, and then her eyes landed on the stranger. "Oh, thank you so much for returning our daughter's purse. We really appreciate it."The stranger nodded graciously. "No problem at all. I'm Mike Nolan, by the way."Mia's mother smiled. "Thank you, Mike. I'm Karen, and this is my husband, John."Mike shook hands with John, who seemed to approve of him. "Thanks for stepping in back there," John said. "We owe you one."Mike waved it off. "No need to thank me. Just glad everything
Edward leaned down to the baby's crib, his face inches from hers. He gently touched her soft cheeks, and the baby turned her head away, scrunching up her face. Richard watched the exchange and chuckled. "Looks like you're not her type, Edward."Edward stood up, a confident smile spreading across his face. "Impossible. Who wouldn't love a handsome guy like me? She's just a little confused, being new to the world and all. But mark my words, when she grows up, she'll be begging to go out with me."Richard raised an eyebrow, amused. "Begging to go out with you? I think she'll lose interest in boys altogether after seeing you."Edward shot Richard a mock-offended look, but before he could respond, Lily's voice drifted from the bed. "What are you two talking about? My daughter's love life, perhaps? I think I'll have to keep her away from both of you."Richard chuckled, and Edward rushed to Lily's side. "No, no, Lily, don't say that. We've gone through so much for her already. Besides, Richa
As they helped Lily into the car, she winced in pain, her face contorted in discomfort. Edward quickly got into the driver's seat, while Richard took the passenger seat. Edward put the car in gear and hit the accelerator, racing towards the hospital. But as they hit the evening traffic, Edward's speed had to slow down. Lily's screams of pain grew louder, and Richard turned around to try and comfort her. "Hang in there, Lily. We're almost there," he said, his voice soothing. But Edward's navigation skills were questionable, and Richard soon realized they were going the wrong way. "Edward, what are you doing? This isn't the way to the hospital!" Richard exclaimed, frustration creeping into his voice."I thought this was the shortcut," Edward replied defensively, his eyes fixed on the road."Shortcut? We're going to be lucky if we make it to the hospital before the baby is born," Richard retorted, his tone rising.Lily's screams grew louder, and she gripped the seat tightly, her knuckles
