Riley was almost completely nude. His chest was bare and wet. His biceps flexed with the slightest of motion. His long legs were uncovered. The only clothing he had on was a scanty boxer that gripped his muscular frame so clearly, you could outline the entire length and width of his dick. I felt the bones in my legs transform into a soft gel, wobbly and shaking me unstable. I needed something to hold onto for support.

“I can’t reach my back—” He bent his hands to his back to show me that they couldn’t reach. “Can you help me apply lotion there?”

No. what the fuck.

“huh?” I thought I had said no only in my mind, he was approaching me now. “I might have been applying it wrongly the whole time. As my tutor, don’t you think it’s your duty to show me how it’s done?” He was standing too close to me that I could feel his breath fall on my hair.

I couldn’t wish away the stiffening of my dick, or the fast pace with which my heart was now beating. I took the lotion from him with a frown on my face. It was the only way I hoped to conceal what I felt within. Maybe if he sees I’m irritated enough, he’ll stop. Or not. Maybe he would continue even more, but I only hoped he got tired of these games with time.

I poured a handful of the cream onto my palm, and I watched him turn back, showing me his broad shoulders and well-defined frame. I rubbed the cream on his back, first in circular motions from the center, then irregular at the ends. I noticed a black scar around his calves, close to the torso. I wondered how he had gotten the scar. I wondered when it happened, if he had cried. The picture couldn’t form in my mind. It was inconceivable to think of Riley crying and sobbing.

His shoulders relaxed against my touch, and I was certain I hadn’t imagined it. My hands were small against his back, and my palm with the lotion was very soft. It slid across his back like butter on a hot pan.

“Stop.” His hectoring voice snapped my hands out of his back with a jolt. “That’s enough!” He turned around, facing me with his chest against my face. I watched them rise up and down as he breathed. I watched the hairs that had sprawled from the center like shrubs on a clear farmland, spreading itself way across his body and converging into a slim line that flowed down into his waistband. I looked up at him, and he was looking at me, so that now our eyes met.

“We should begin. It will be late soon,” I said. And I dropped the lotion in his hands and walked out.

I felt his eyes on me as I walked out of the room, and for a moment I steped into his perspective and I saw my retreating figure. I was like a mop stick with blonde ropes on the head, and I walked like my legs were made of plastic.

There was something in the air. It was heavy, hanging over both of us like a storm. But neither of us mentioned it. We wouldn’t even acknowledge it.

He sat across from me, and I taught him the things I had prepared. I wasn’t sure if he was following on everything, because he didn’t always respond. He didn’t ask any questions either. He just sat there like a statue. A copper statue.

“It’s getting late. I think you should leave.” His voice was sharp. I didn’t know if there was something I had done to offend him. Maybe I had applied the lotion too much, or too little, or had rubbed it in the wrong direction. My stomach twisted. He has never been the nicest, and I didn’t understand why I expected something different.

“Yeah…” I said with a frail voice. I put my things together and left.

It was dark outside, and the air was filled with that fruity smell of fall, and the melancholy of approaching winter.

I saw two figures emerge from the blinds. Blood rushed quickly to my palms. They were quivering and wet with horror. I wanted to run as they approached me, but my legs felt heavy, like they were cemented to the ground.

“Who…” My breath came out trembling. “Who’s there?” I whispered into the dark.

The fear that I felt was something I could taste, first at the tip of my tongue and then at the retreating fold into my throat. I swallowed, ever so painfully, on the lump in my throat.“We’re not going to hurt you—” one of them said in a mocking voice, “—much,” the other guy completed with a chuckle. My legs had given out in fear, and I had fallen to the ground. I curled myself up, hoping to protect my face and stomach when the kicks and blows came raining down.I heard a loud blow, and a kick, but I didn’t feel any pain, and the scorn and cries weren’t from me either. I opened my eyes to see a tall figure in front of me, beating the shit out of one of the guys. I saw only one when I opened my eyes, but I didn’t see the other. Maybe he had escaped from Riley’s terror.“If I ever see you anywhere as close as 200 miles to him, I swear I’ll kill you!”Riley’s voice was a roar. I wasn’t sure I had ever seen him this angry. It was scary. I believed him—that he would kill him. There was n

Erica’s excitement could reverse an eclipse, returning the light to a dark world. She had been invited into the Young Creators Cohort. That was the good news she had for us, and indeed, it was great. I was smiling from ear to ear, hoping I was smiling right—the correct way people smiled. I wasn’t sure if they had specific steps to smile, or if I could buy a book to learn how to make one properly.Henry pulled Erica in for a hug the way he always did, throwing his arms lazily around you and suffocating you at the same time. She pushed him almost immediately after a brief hug.“Okay, that’s enough,” she breathed out and in. “I’ll need some personal space, okay?” She said it in a serious tone but was still sarcastic, because Henry only moved in closer and continued trying to pull her in for a hug despite her protest and complaint about smudging her makeup. I was laughing hysterically, just as Henry was laughing too.I loved them. I really do.I wish I could tell them about Riley—tell th

  • Falling for my Bully    first lesson: stay put

Riley's room felt bigger than it was before that night, it was so spacious and ridiculously furnished, you wouldn't believe it belonged to a student. I tried to not think of that night, i tried to quench, with my saliva, the burning rage that was rising up my throat when I remembered that night. It was rage and fear, mixed so finely together I couldn't tell which was more. Rage because it happened, and fear that he could do it again, and I could do absolutely nothing about it. So I sat with my legs tightened to one another, and my hands clasped, as if creating an armor against him. He sat across me, with a rugged thud. I feared the chair would collaps, even the table that seperated us shook. Just 3 hours. You can do this Alfie, you can. I took in a deep breath, like Avatar the last air bender, I opened my eyes with a new resolve, determined, brisk. I imagined my eyes shine blue. “from your transcript, i found that the courses you performed lowest at were courses that had to deal w

Erica was wearing the brightest shade of yellow I had ever seen. It was so bright that I wondered if it glowed in the dark, because even her mood was electricity.“How… do… I look?” she squealed as she tossed her long brown braids to the side. Honestly, she looked like a princess. Always looked like one, just that today she was more intentional about it.“Tu es très belle, mademoiselle,” Henry said in an exaggerated deep voice, with his hands making gestures like in theater.“I know right,” she said, and then her expression changed very quickly to a serious one. “Here—” she placed her phone in my hand, then she picked up her glass of orange drink to take a sip, “—make it look unaware,” she said. I took a picture of her, and she collected her phone back and took a sip from the drink.“Urghhhh,” she exclaimed. “Tastes like dust,” she said while checking out the photo.Someone walked up to our table, a boy who was so short I would have missed him if he didn’t call my name so loud with a

  • Falling for my Bully    The bully's choice

AlfieI wasn’t sure how many days had passed, maybe two or three. I had received no calls, neither had I looked at a screen—not my phone’s or a television’s. I didn’t know what made me feel so relevant, but for some odd reason, I felt that I would appear on the news.I had been keeping up with my therapy sessions and had allowed visitors—the only ones I know, Henry and Erica. They didn’t ask me how it happened, or when it happened. They just came, with different brands of pineapple juice. I was grateful. I wanted to say thank you. But it felt like there was an inflated bulb in my throat, so nothing came out when I opened my mouth to speak. I felt guilty for not speaking, and I was too aware of the fact that they were noticing my state, and it made it even harder to speak, no matter how hard I tried.I had a dream where the entire school was empty, and I searched every block looking for Erica and Henry. That afternoon when they came, with
