HAZEL POV

He guided me to the couch, and I sat down. He pulled off his jacket and draped it over the armrest before sitting beside me.

If this talk was about his engagement arrangement, then I had no interest in hearing about it. I opened my mouth to tell him just that when he spoke up.

“It’s not about the whole engagement stuff.”

I hated how he could read me like a book, but I was relieved to know it wasn't about that.

HAZEL POVHe guided me to the couch, and I sat down. He pulled off his jacket and draped it over the armrest before sitting beside me.If this talk was about his engagement arrangement, then I had no interest in hearing about it. I opened my mouth to tell him just that when he spoke up.“It’s not about the whole engagement stuff.”I hated how he could read me like a book, but I was relieved to know it wasn't about that.“When I got admitted here, I wasn't in a good place. I was having a fallout with my father and my brother. Things back home were rough for me, so when I got accepted to study medicine here, I took it without hesitation. It was a means of escaping home.”I gave him my undivided attention, even though I didn't know where he was going with this. Still, it felt good to hear him talk about his life. He rarely opened up to me like this, and I didn't want to interrupt him.“When I first came here, Lucian…” He looked at me, clearly uncomfortable saying that name.It had been a

HAZEL POVThe first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the warmth surrounding me. I snuggled closer, enjoying the comfort until something tickled my nose.I scrunched it and slowly opened my eyes, only to find myself staring at a black shirt.Wait. A black shirt? My eyes widened as I lifted my head, and the familiar face staring down at me made my heart nearly jump out of my chest.Killian? I was lying on Killian. In his arms. Inside a car. What the actual fuck?I bolted upright, hitting my head against the roof of the car in the process.“Ouch!” I cried, rubbing the back of my head.Killian burst out laughing. “Careful, Sweet Pea. You're going to give yourself a concussion before breakfast.”I shot him a glare, then looked around the car again, hoping I would somehow wake up and find myself in my own bed.No such luck. My gaze dropped to his shirt, and my stomach sank. There was a wet patch on his chest. Oh, God. Was that... spit?I stared at it in horror before slowly looking

KILLIAN POVKILLIAN POVI was becoming a saint, no shit. With the way Hazel was grinding on my lap, her mouth on my neck, licking my pulse, I deserved a fucking medal.“Fuck,” I grunted. I held her by the shoulders and gently pulled her away. “What are you doing?”Her chest rose and fell rapidly, and her eyes looked heavy and unfocused. “Killian,” she groaned, lightly hitting my chest.“Are you drunk?” I asked, studying her face. She only pouted, then leaned forward again, burying her face in my neck. I caught her before she could slip off my lap and brushed her hair away from her face.Damn, she was drunk. No wonder she was behaving this way.She shifted on my lap again, her head falling against my chest. “I want to touch you,” she mumbled. Before I could respond, she lifted her head, cupped my cheeks with both hands, and squished them together.I frowned at her, and she giggled.“Hazel, you need to go inside. You're drunk, baby.”She shook her head vehemently. “No, I'm not going ins

KILLIAN POVTwo days have passed, and there’s no word from Jason yet. I sat in my car, parked outside the biker lot, watching tons of guys smoking, some with chicks on their laps, sucking their faces off. That used to be me for a very long time before Hazel came back into my world, and all of that became a distant memory. Now, I don’t care about anything other than her.The car door opened, and Jason got in. I turned to him. “It’s been two days.”“I’m not some superhero, Blackwood. Of course, it’s gonna take time to get something.” He pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his jacket and lit one up, offering one to me.I shook my head. “I don’t take those anymore.” Even though I was tempted, I couldn’t.Jason’s brows lifted. “Damn, what has this girl turned you into?” He chuckled, opened the car window, and blew out some smoke.“Well, did you get anything?” I asked.“Remember the group at Kingsbury College that called themselves the Serpents?”I nodded.“Well, you know we were rival ene

HAZEL POVWinter had barely touched her breakfast. She sat on the couch with her phone in her hand, scrolling through the same messages over and over again. Every few seconds, she would lock the screen, only to pick it up again.Mila sat beside her, watching her with concern. “Winter, you need to eat something.”“I'm not hungry.”“You haven't eaten since yesterday.”Winter dropped her phone onto the couch. “Can you stop, please?”Mila pressed her lips together and leaned back on the couch.I watched them from the kitchen entrance, a plate of toast in my hand. Winter hadn't been herself since the incident with Conner. She barely slept last night, and whenever her phone lit up, she grabbed it so quickly that I knew exactly who she was hoping to hear from.Conner had called several times, but Winter refused to answer.I carried the plate over and placed it in front of her. “Eat something, Winter.”She looked up at me. “You're starting to sound like Mila.”“Then maybe you should listen to

KILLIAN POVI watched Hazel walk away until she disappeared from my sight.I wanted to go after her, but I knew she needed space. No matter how badly I wanted her back, I couldn't keep forcing myself into her life and expect her to forgive me.She had given me enough reasons to hate myself already. I ran a hand through my hair and let out a frustrated breath. How the hell was I supposed to fix things between us when every time I tried, I only made them worse?I loved her. That much had never changed. But loving Hazel wasn't enough. I needed to become someone she could trust, someone who wouldn't make her question whether being with me was worth the pain. And I had a lot of work to do.I shoved my hands into my pockets and started walking home. I needed to clear my head before I did something stupid, like going after her again when she'd made it clear she wanted nothing to do with me.By the time I reached my apartment, I was exhausted. I dropped my keys on the table, took off my jacke
