KILLIAN POV

I had never been afraid of blood until it was hers. “Somebody help her!”

The emergency doors swung open as I carried Hazel inside, her blood soaking through my shirt and dripping onto the hospital floor.

“She’s unconscious. She hit her head.”

Nurses rushed toward me, trying to take her from my arms. I didn’t let go.

“Sir, you need to put her down.”

“She’s not waking up.” My voice sounded nothing like mine.

“I know. That’s why you need to let us treat her.”

I looked down at Hazel’s f

HAZEL POV When he finally pulled away from the kiss, I was breathless. Killian didn't release his hold on my waist. He looked down at me, his eyes searching my face before he reached down and scooped up my bag from the floor."Come on," he muttered. "You're too exhausted to go back to your parent’s house. My hotel is two blocks away. You're going to shower and sleep."I didn't argue. I didn't have the energy to fight him, and truth be told, I didn't want to leave his side.*********The hotel suite was quiet and dimly lit when we walked in. Killian dropped my bag on a chair and pointed toward the bathroom."There's a clean robe in there," he said. "Go take a hot shower. I'll order some food."I took his advice. The steaming water felt incredible against my aching muscles. When I stepped out twenty minutes later, wrapped securely in white towel robe, the room was completely silent. A tray of food sat untouched on the table. Killian was standing by the window, His back was to me, his

HAZEL POVTwenty-four hours. That was how long we had been trapped in the suffocating walls of the ICU lounge. My eyes burned from exhaustion. My clothes felt like sandpaper against my skin. But my dad was stable. The surgery had been a success, and the doctor said his vitals were finally holding steady."Hazel, sweetheart," my mum’s voice broke the silence. She reached over, her hand cold and trembling as she squeezed my knee. "Look at you. You're pale as a sheet. You need to go home and get some proper rest.""I'm fine, Mum," I lied, my voice hoarse. "I'm not leaving you here alone.""You aren't leaving me alone. Your dad is sleeping, and the nurses are right outside," she insisted, giving me a small, tired smile. "Please. Go back to our house. Take a hot shower, eat a real meal, and sleep in your own bed for a few hours. I need you strong for tomorrow, okay?"I looked through the glass window at my dad's peaceful, bandaged form, then back at my mum's pleading eyes. I reluctantly no

KILLIAN POVI didn’t leave the hospital grounds.Hazel thought she could throw me out, but she forgot who the fuck she was talking to. I wasn’t going anywhere. I stood under the concrete of the hospital’s side exit, watching the rain hit the pavement, a cigarette burning down between my fingers. My eyes were glued to the glass doors, waiting for any sign of her running out in tears. If her father died, I needed to be the one to catch her.A loud chirp of a police siren broke my focus. Two police cars pulled up to the emergency entrance. Two detectives in trench coats stepped out, shaking off the rain. One of them held a clear plastic evidence bag with a piece of metal inside.I dropped the cigarette, crushed it with the heel of my boot, and marched toward them."Detectives," I called out. The older detective stopped, his hand instinctively dropping toward his belt. "Can I help you, kid? This is a restricted police entrance.""You're here for the Frensby accident on Route 5," I stated,

HAZEL POVThe smell of medicine hit me the moment we stepped off the elevator onto the ICU floor. My heart hammered violently against my ribs. Killian kept his hand firmly on the small of my back, his large, warm palm steadying me as he guided me through the bright white hallways."Hazel!"I snapped my head up and saw my mother standing outside Room 412. Her eyes were bloodshot, her clothes wrinkled from hours of waiting. The moment she saw me, she burst into fresh tears and rushed forward, throwing her arms around me."Oh, thank God you're here," she sobbed into my shoulder, holding me so tight I could barely breathe. "It's so bad, Hazel. The doctors said his vitals are dropping..."Suddenly, my mother's body went completely rigid in my arms. She pulled back slowly, her tearful gaze shifting over my shoulder to the towering figure standing right behind me. The relief on her face instantly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer horror and rage."You," she whispered, her voice tremblin

KILLIAN POVHer words hit me like a physical blow.He had an accident.“Killian…” Hazel choked out, her small hands coming up to grip my wrists where I still held her face. She was trembling so violently that I could feel it vibrating through my palms. “He’s… my mum called. The brakes failed. He’s in the ICU, and I… I don’t even have enough money for a last-minute flight. I can’t get to him.”Something flipped inside my chest.I failed Mia when I was a kid. I did nothing while she bled to death. But I wouldn’t let Hazel go through that pain of losing someone too.“Look at me, sweet pea,” I ordered, my voice dropping into a low, commanding growl. I tightened my grip on her jaw just enough to make her tear-filled green eyes lock onto mine. “Look at me, Hazel.”She sniffed, a sob catching in her throat. “Killian, please, I need to go to my dorm. I need to find a way—”“Shut up and listen to me,” I snapped, cutting her off. It was harsh, but she was spiraling, and I needed her to calm dow

KILLIAN POV“Tell me you have better information this time?”“You got it, kid.” Mitch dragged on his cigarette before throwing the remnant out of my car window. “I told you Lilian Bennet went to school with your girl?”I gave him a go-ahead nod.“I was wrong. Looks like she still followed her here.”I snapped my head toward him. “What?”“That explains why she knows too much about your girl. My findings show she is a student here, but it looks like she’s staying here under a different name.”My hand tightened around the steering wheel. “How the hell does she have two different names?”“Money, kid. From what I found out, her family is loaded.”“The fuck? Did you find out the name she’s answering here?”“Nope.”“Then what’s the point of all this if you didn’t even find out the name she’s using here?” My voice came out harsher than I expected, but I didn’t care.“Don’t shout at me, kid. Do you have any idea the strings I pulled to get this information out?” he said in a warning tone.Neit
