My mother’s fingers tightened around Adam’s shirt as she yanked him farther away from me. Her chest rose and fell quickly, and her face was filled with fear and anger.

“Adam! I asked you a question!” she screamed, her voice ringing through the hallway. “Where did you hear those words?!”

Adam didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked nervously at his nanny, who stood nearby, trembling. Then he looked at me before finally turning back to our mother.

That one look was enough. He didn’t have to

I held my burning cheek, tears filling my eyes. It felt like my skin was on fire. I slowly looked up at the head of the table. Luke stood over me, his chest rising and falling with anger. “You’ll eat whatever they serve you,” Luke growled. “Or do you really think this is some charity home where you can make demands?”“Luke, stop it!” Mrs. Paul shouted from across the table, her voice shaking with anger. “How could you slap her? Right in front of me!”Luke didn’t even look at her. His cold, furious eyes stayed locked on me as he pointed a warning finger at his mother.“Mom, please stay out of this,” he said through gritted teeth. “She’s my wife, and I’ll treat her however I want.”Then he turned to the trembling maid beside my chair.“Serve her the pasta with the garlic sauce,” he ordered. His icy gaze returned to me. “And you’re going to eat every single bite.”Luke sat back down and adjusted his cuffs as if nothing had happened. The maid’s hands shook as she picked up the serving sp

Luke stood frozen, staring at his mother in complete shock. The look on his face said it all. He couldn’t believe what had just happened. His grip on my wrists slowly loosened until he finally let go. With a tight jaw, he shoved his hands into his pockets.Taking advantage of his silence, Mrs. Paul calmly pressed the controls on her wheelchair and rolled us farther into the huge mansion. The maids and security guards quietly followed behind us.“When I heard you were coming, I told the kitchen to prepare something special just for you,” Mrs. Paul said gently.I looked down at her, and a wave of relief filled my chest. Holding onto her shoulders, I leaned forward and rested my head against her neck. “I can’t wait to taste it,” I whispered, a small smile slowly returning to my face. I let out a long, tired sigh as the exhaustion finally caught up with me. “I’m really starving,” I admitted. “I haven’t had a proper meal in days.”Mrs. Paul gently squeezed my hands. “You’ll never have to

The car finally came to a stop in front of a huge mansion. Tall iron gates surrounded the property, making it look more like a prison than a home. Across the center of the gates, in black metal letters, were the words:Paul’s Castle. This was it, the main Paul family mansion. The car doors opened, and Luke’s security guards took my suitcase from the trunk. Without saying a word, they carried it up the wide stone steps and into the house.I slowly got out of the car, my heart pounding as I walked toward the large front doors. But the moment I stepped inside, the fear that had been crushing me suddenly disappeared.Standing in the middle of the grand foyer was Luke’s mother, Mrs. Paul. She sat in a modern wheelchair, with several maids standing quietly behind her.The moment she saw me, her face lit up with a warm smile. She slowly opened her arms, welcoming me with a kindness I hadn’t seen in a long time.In that single moment, all the fear, anger, and pain I had been carrying because

It was obvious he had heard the truth from the only person who paid attention to what was happening in this house.Mom’s eyes narrowed as she followed Adam’s gaze. She turned sharply and glared at the nanny.“So you’ve been sneaking behind my back and filling my son’s head with all this nonsense?” she shouted.“I’m sorry, ma’am! I-I didn’t mean to tell him! I’m so sorry!”Rose fell to her knees on the floor, tears streaming down her face. She pressed her hands together as her whol

And there he was.The monster himself. The nightmare I thought I had escaped from was standing right in front of me, a cruel smile spreading across his face.Luke Paul stood with both hands tucked into the pockets of his expensive trousers, his head tilted slightly as he looked down at me. His eyes were filled with twisted satisfaction, as if he were a hunter staring at the prey he had finally trapped. And I was that prey.If anyone ever asked me to describe Luke Paul in one word, I would say beast. He was a monster in every way, and the hardest part was that no one else could see it. To the public, the media, and the people who admired him, Luke was the perfect man and successful young billionaire. But to me, he was the devil hiding behind a perfect smile.Luke took a slow, confident step forward, stopping between my parents and me. His eyes swept over me, after a moment, he looked away from me and turned his attention to my parents. He didn’t bow or greet anyone politely. Instead,

My mother froze. Her whole body went stiff, and she quickly ended the call. For a second, she just stood there with her back to me. Then, slowly, she turned around. The moment our eyes met, I saw the shock and fear. Her eyes widened as she realized I had heard everything.“Mom…” I whispered, taking a shaky step toward her. My bare feet felt cold against the floor. The warmth from my shower was gone, replaced by a chilling fear that spread through my entire body.“Mom, I asked you a question.” My voice trembled. “Who was that on the phone? And who is coming to get me?”My voice broke, caught somewhere between begging for the truth and fearing I already knew it. I silently prayed I was wrong. Maybe I had misunderstood. Maybe I was just overthinking everything.“Honey, please,” Mom said, her voice coated with fake concern. It was the same voice she always used whenever she was trying to make a problem disappear. She took a slow step toward me, opening her arms as if she wanted to hug me.
