Rejected by my mate, Claimed by Alpha Ryder
“I, Julius Armstrong, reject Doris Charles as my mate.”
The laughter came right after.
This was the second time my mate rejected me because I cannot talk. In the pack, they call me dumb not because I am stupid, but because I am mute.
When I turned eighteen, my first mate rejected me for that reason.
Today, it was the Gamma.
He is twenty-one, the same age as the Alpha and Beta.
This was his third rejection. The first girl was too fat, the second was too short and now, I was dumb.
I never wanted to attend the mating ceremony. I knew how it would end, but my stepmother forced me to go, and my stepsisters came just to watch me get mocked again.
The next day, wolves who had found their mates returned to officially claim them before the Alpha and pack leaders.
I went only because I was forced, just to stand there and watch my stepsister get chosen.
Then something happened that no one expected.
The Alpha claimed me as his mate in front of everyone.
Was I shocked? Yes.
Did I believe him? No.
Did I think it was a cruel joke? Absolutely.
Because no Alpha would choose a rejected, mute girl like me.

Chapter: CHAPTER 5~ Doris’s POV ~My heart was hammering so hard I thought it might jump out of my chest.I couldn’t believe what had just happened on the field. In front of the entire pack, Alpha Ryder had looked straight at me and said the words no one ever expected.“She’s my Luna.”Me.The one everybody calls “a loser” right in my face.I stayed close to him as he guided us through the crowd, my arms tight around his waist. His body was solid as a wall between me and the rest of the world. Even so, I felt their eyes burning into my skin, no one tried to hide it.“Why her?”“A mute Luna? Seriously?”“She can’t even speak during meetings, how’s that gonna work?”“Ryder must’ve lost his mind tonight.”“Probably felt sorry for her. Charity case.”“Clara Anthony would’ve been perfect, at least she can open her mouth.”Every word stabbed a little deeper, I pressed my face harder against Ryder’s shirt, breathing in the clean smell of vanilla and someth

Chapter: CHAPTER 4~ Ryder’s POV ~I would be lying if I claimed yesterday wasn’t still weighing on my mind during the mating ritual, the painful scene of Julius rejecting Doris replaying over and over.Part of me had felt satisfaction and relief. She had been out of his reach and for reasons I couldn’t explain, that made my chest tighten in a strange kind of happiness. The rejection had been brutal, and I had seen how badly it hurt Doris.A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in,” I said, straightening. The door swung open, Julius and Blade walked in—my closest friends since childhood.“Don’t tell me you’re not going to the ceremony today,” Julius teased, leaning against the doorway with a smirk.Blade chuckled, giving me a light punch on the shoulder before sliding into the chair at my desk, calm in contrast to Julius’s energy.“Obviously, I’m going to the mating ceremony,” I replied evenly, my voice steady.Julius raised an eyebrow. “But come

Chapter: CHAPTER 3The ceremony hadn’t even begun yet, and my body already felt like it had been dragged through dust.“Doris, hurry up with ironing my dress!”Veronica’s sharp, impatient voice echoed through the house. It hadn’t even been five minutes since she’d dumped the dress on my hands, yet she’d come to check on it at least five times. Not because the dress wasn’t ready, but because frustrating me was the point. She was the only one who had found a mate.Julius Armstrong would claim her today, obviously. When I finished ironing, I carried the dress to her room and laid it carefully on her bed. I didn’t wait for approval, I quickly turned and left her room immediately.“Doris.”Henry’s voice stopped me.“You’re not dressed yet?”I looked down at myself, then back at him. I tugged lightly at the torn gown I was wearing, silently telling him this was it. This was what I had.His brows pulled together in confusion.“Wait… Doris,” he said sl

Chapter: CHAPTER 2CHAPTER 2I ran without knowing where I was going. I only knew I couldn’t stay there anymore, and leaving was the only thing in my head. And guess what?Nobody called after me.Nobody came running.Instead, they laughed. They fucking laughed at me.It would’ve been better to be in hell, because what I felt in that house was no different—maybe worse. At least hell doesn’t pretend to love you before it burns you alive.I didn’t stop until I reached the lake, a short distance from home. The only place I ever ran to when my head became too loud. My hiding place.I sat on the rock by the water, picking up stones and throwing them as far as I could. One splash at a time. One stone. One pain. One memory I couldn’t erase.A presence shifted behind me.“You’re here today,” a calm voice said. “I was starting to think this place was mine alone.”Blade Lucious. He lowered himself onto a rock beside me, not too close, not too far…ca

Chapter: CHAPTER 1~ Doris ~Today is the mating ritual, I was still cleaning the room of my twin stepsisters, Vanessa and Veronica, as always. My knees hurt from kneeling on the floor.I scrubbed at a stain on Vanessa’s floor until my fingers burned, but it didn’t come off. I scrubbed harder. They turned eighteen today, and everyone knew they would find their mates and I was nineteen with no mate.I woke up very early, around 5 a.m., to start cleaning and cooking, I cleaned all the rooms, including the twins room. When I got to Henry’s room, I skipped it, as usual, he always told me not to clean it.Don’t worry, sis I’ll clean it myself, he would say. Most times, I never touched his room.I was still scrubbing the corridor when I suddenly remembered it was the mating ceremony day. Before I could even finish, my stepmother walked in.“Doris, don’t tell me you’re not prepared for the ceremony yet, you need to do and leave my house today, I don’t mind if you bring a low level omega as your mate, it’s n

Chapter: LUCAS: BEFORE THE BEAST - CHAPTER 7~ Lucas ~The sun was dipping low behind the trees, painting the sky in shades of orange and red as I trudged back from the hunt. My backpack hung heavy on my shoulders, stuffed with a couple of rabbits I’d caught in the snares. My boots crunched over the dry leaves on the forest path, and I could feel the ache in my muscles from running all day. Hunting always cleared my head, but today, something felt off even before I got close to home. The air carried a weird tang.I stopped for a second, tilting my head, sniffing deeper. Werewolf scents and not just any but strangers. Lots of them, my heart kicked up a notch, pounding like a drum in my chest.I dropped my backpack and ran toward the house, my legs moving faster than I thought they could. Branches slapped against my face, but I didn’t stop. The strange smells were getting stronger, almost like they were sticking to the ground. Finally, I saw our little house through the trees. The wooden fence

My fist hit his jaw hard, he stumbled back, surprised, and let her go.Amelia fell to the ground, coughing. “Lucas!”Ryan rushed at me, swinging his fist, I ducked and punched him in the stomach. He bent over, gasping for air.Jake grabbed my shirt from the side, trying to pull me down. I drove my elbow back into his ribs. He cried out and let go.The other guy jumped onto my back, wrapping his arms around my neck. I staggered, then threw myself backward, slamming him into the wall. Chapter: LUCAS: BEFORE THE BEAST-CHAPTER 5The bell rang, signaling the start of class. Chairs scraped against the floor as everyone settled down.I could already feel it.The stares.Ryan and his friends were sitting in the back row, whispering and laughing under their breath like they always did. I kept my head down and looked at my notebook. I drew random shapes in the corner of the page, pretending I didn’t notice them. That was my plan most days.Hoping they get bored.“Hey, mutt!”Ryan’s voice was loud enough for the whole class to hear.I didn’t look up.Something soft hit my shoulder. A crumpled paper ball, then another one bounced off my desk. I saw bits of snack wrappers and an empty juice pouch land near my books.A few students stopped talking, the room grew quiet. They were waiting.Waiting to see what I would do.My chest felt tight, and my heart beat fast, but I kept my eyes on my notebook. I picked up my pencil and continued drawing lines that didn’t me

Our chests bumped.“Not what?” he sneered. “Not true? Then say it. Or are you too scared?”The shove didn’t stop there.Rylan pulled back his fist and punched me in the jaw. My head snapped to the side, and bright sparks filled my vision. I stumbled, the taste of blood sharp in my mouth. But something inside me refused to stay down. I swung back without thinking, my fist hitting his shoulder. It wasn

Chapter: THE HISTORY OF LUCAS: CHAPTER 3~ Lucas ~I kept my eyes on the ground and walked toward the main hall. The first lesson of the day was called Border I guess, something about old maps and learning to recognize the scent of enemies near pack land.Inside, the room was darker and quieter. Thin windows let in strips of sunlight that fell across old wooden desks. The wood was scratched and carved with initials from students long gone.I chose a seat in the back corner.I set down my satchel carefully and took out my slate and a piece of charcoal. I moved slowly, trying not to make noise.Students continued to enter, filling the room with chatter. Then the group from the courtyard walked in.Five of them. They didn’t rush. They didn’t look around for empty seats, they moved like they already owned the place. The one in front was easy to notice. He was tall, with short black hair and a long scar running down his jaw. It looked old, the kind of scar someone would brag about.I

Chapter: THE HISTORY OF LUCAS: CHAPTER 2~ Lucas pov ~18 years later. My name is Lucas Justin. I’m eighteen years old, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve felt like I had to be strong all the time. Like I was carrying something heavy that no one else could see. I didn’t really have a choice. My dad always said our pack was like a house made of cards. It might look strong and beautiful from far away, but one small mistake could make everything fall apart. And he worried the most about us weredogs.“Stay away from the wolves, son,” he would say every night. His voice was deep and rough, like stones scraping together. He usually said it while sitting by the fire, slowly sharpening his old hunting knife. “They might smile at you and act friendly. But the moment you turn your back, they can hurt you.”I didn’t fully understand everything back then. I just knew one thing that Dad was scared, and when your father is scared, you learn to be careful too. When I was little, the clearing felt like th

Chapter: CHAPTER 26The moment those stupid words left my mouth, I felt my whole body freeze, I turned to Kelvin slowly, scared of what I’d see on his face.He wasn’t angry neither was he cold, he was just shocked, like I had said something that hit him harder than I meant. His jaw tightened. “Who told you that?” he asked quietly, the calmness in his voice scared me more than if he had shouted. “Where did you hear that from? Who told you I was gay?”I couldn’t answer, my throat locked up, and I just looked down, squeezing my hands together.Kelvin studied my face for a second, then unbuckled his seatbelt and moved closer and before I could react, he gently held my face with both hands, his palms were warm and steady.“Rose,” he said softly, “I’m not gay and I’ve never been gay.”I swallowed hard, still unable to speak.“I don’t know who told you that,” he added, brushing my cheek lightly, “but you can’t believe every rumor about me, there are too many of them and if you keep

But today, I didn’t need comfort, I only needed isolation…I need to think.I need to breathe before I drowned in the storm clawing its way up my chest. When the elevator doors slid open, the air in the underground floor hugged me like an old, unwelcome friend. Dim light, soundproofed walls, restricted rooms, the low hum of the ventilation system vibrating through concrete and steel. A place meant for confidential files, emergency lockdown, and the kind of secrets no company ever admitted to keeping.A place no one would disturb me.I walked inside and shut the door behind me, letting the echo cut off the world above. For the first time in years, my hands shook, not from fear.Fear was easy, predictable…something I learned to master before I could even sp

Not even a glance.Fifteen years locked up, and the first person she chose to speak to wasn’t me.It was a total stranger… my very own secretary.I didn’t know what irritated me more, was it the silence, or how naturally Rose David seemed to fit beside her, calming her, supporting her, like they’d known each other their whole lives. When the car stopped in front of the house I bought for her, my mother didn’t even wait for me to open the car door.
