I placed a call for a private nurse as soon as we got to the hotel, the pain that shot through my chest and entire body, overwhelming.

A bullet was lodged in my shoulder, and it took everything in me to not scream from the pain.

But despite the pain, I couldn’t take my eyes off Elena. Who paced the entire fucking goddamn suite.

“Shouldn’t we get you to a hospital or something?” She queried, lines of agitation twisting her features. “You’re bleeding heavily,” she added, gesturing at my arm.

I sighed, sinking into the large king-size bed. “I’m fine, Elena,” I breathed.

“No you’re not!” She shot back, veins standing out on the side of her neck. “Obviously!”

Was she…worried for me?

“Don’t worry about it,” I replied, waving a hand in dismissal. “I paged someone already. I’ll get it treated soon enough.”

She still looked unconvinced, making me chuckle.

“I’m serious. Help’s on the way.”

Sighing, she raked her fingers through her hair, resuming her relentless pace.

  • Falling in love with the Devil’s son   NICE SHOT

ELENAI stared between the gun in my hands and the lifeless man on the floor, the panic lodged in my chest slowly spreading to other parts of my body. My legs. My hands. All numb.“Oh my God.” The gun clattered to the floor at my feet, my fingers too limp to hold it any longer. There was a continuous ringing in my head that shattered my ears, replaying the horrors of the past few moments.“What have I done?” I queried, my vision blurring. Oh, you naive girl. You just shot a full-blooded, living, breathing man. Taking away his life. That hole in his head couldn’t stop staring at me, no matter where I looked. A loud clapping sound interrupted my rising panic attack, and I looked up to see Atlas walking towards me, a smirk on his face. Why the hell was he clapping? And what was so funny? This…this was because of him. Because for a moment there, I’d snapped and pulled that trigger. To protect him from the man..Why would I kill a man to protect Atlas Grant? Why didn’t I just mind

  • Falling in love with the Devil’s son   BANG BANG!

ATLAS“That’s your princess over there,” Dominik crooned, signaling with a snap of his fingers, for her to be brought over to where she stood. The guard started across the vast space, nudging Elena forward every now and then with the nuzzle of the gun, her eyes never leaving my face. “I know you have a gun with you, mate,” Dominik said, “and I also know you know better than to risk the life of this damsel over here. So?” He held out a palm, silently urging me to drop my weapon. But I just glared at him, mentally calculating the time it would take Keelan to eventually drag his feet over to wherever the power supply was, so he could cut the damn thing off. “Come on, mate,” he urged. “Look around you, it’s eleven to one.” The guard pushed Elena over to Dominik now, who caught her by the hair, lifting his gun to her face swiftly. “I mean,” he curled her hair around his fingers, pulling her to him, “you wouldn’t be stupid enough to risk it, right?” He put the gun under her chin, tilt

  • Falling in love with the Devil’s son   SHADE FOR A REASON

ATLASThe car sped across the highway, the silence that hung inside thick and heavy. My head was all over the place, my mind focused on the road ahead. I’d insisted on driving, wanting to get to Elena as soon as possible. I couldn’t even bring myself to think about, or imagine the things she could possibly be going through wherever she was. At the hands of whoever had her. So I just sat very rigid in the driver’s seat, watering down my fears. “You know you’re walking into a trap wide-eyed, don’t you?” Keelan’s voice broke through my thoughts, and I turned my head to glare at him.“So what do you suggest I do, then?”“We need to take a moment and think about this. Restra—““I don’t mind walking into fire, Keelan,” I spat, “if it means rescuing Elena from whatever claws she’d been caught in. There’s no chance to restrategize, or whatever you’re insinuating.”Keelan let out a sigh of frustration, raking his fingers through his hair. “Shade, listen, you don’t—““There’s a reason I’m

  • Falling in love with the Devil’s son   DON’T TOUCH HER

ATLASI paced about the room, dialing Elena’s number for about the hundredth time. And it got directed to the same place, again. Voicemail.I let out an agitated groan, running a hand through my hair impatiently. “Are you going to tell me what the problem is?” Keelan demanded, watching me under hooded eyes. “What has got you so worked up?”“Her calls keep going straight to voicemails,” I ground out, my jaw twitching, and his eyes swept across the length and breadth of the room. “Where is she?” He didn’t need to ask who I was talking about.“I don’t know man,” I sighed, gripping the phone tightly in my fingers. “I just woke up and..and she was gone.” I paused, scratching my jaw. “And my father has just informed me of a meeting scheduled for twelve noon. My presence is mandatory. What the hell do I do?”His eyes were narrowed into slits as he watched me, almost as if he couldn’t believe me. “And why are you in her suite in the first place, Atlas?” He demanded, his tone dripping with

  • Falling in love with the Devil’s son   Nudging Feelings

ATLASI woke up deeply satiated, and feeling the warmth of the sun against my face, and I slowly peeled my eyes open, reaching forward to pull the blinds close. I rolled to the side with a small yawn, reaching an arm forward to grab the woman that had slept next to me the previous night. The same one I’d been deeply buried in. The same one that had screened my name. But she wasn’t there. My side was empty. I quickly bolted up, glancing around the room. Where was she?“Elena?” I called, shoving the sheets off and sliding off the bed to my feet. Getting no response, I crossed the room to the bathroom. “Elena?” I called again, pushing the door and peering in. But she was nowhere to be found. It took me only a short while to realize she was must have sneaked away again, just like she’d done the first time we’d hooked up at the club. I sighed, leaning against the wall and running a hand through my hair. Why did she have such an annoying habit?Every single time, I’d woken up wantin
