Watching this scene, I couldn't help but remember how different things had been when we were together.

Damien never allowed me to reveal my identity as his fiancée publicly.

He never let me show any intimate gestures with him in front of others.

Even when entering and leaving his house, I had to pretend to be there as his private healer.

I had always thought that as the Alpha heir, he needed to be low-key and reserved.

It turned out Damien was never a reserved man.

He was only cold as ice when he was with me.

I felt nauseous.

I stood up and walked toward the exit.

As I left, Damien spotted me and quickly pushed Sera away in shock.

Only then did everyone notice I had been there.

---

Just as I stepped outside, Sera chased after me and grabbed my shoulder.

"Aria, what you just saw—it's not what you think—"

"Let go." I frowned, not wanting to hear her explanations.

But Sera kept gripping my arm tighter and tighter.

She stared at the decorative bonfire behind us, her voice turning cold and sinister:

"Tell me, if I were to fall into this fire and get hurt, would your family think you pushed me?"

The moment she finished speaking, Sera let out a piercing scream and dramatically threw herself backward into the auction house's decorative bonfire.

When the Blackwood family rushed over at the sound, they found Sera collapsed in the extinguished fire pit.

Her elegant dress was charred, her face smeared with soot and ash. She looked utterly pitiful.

"Aria, have you lost your mind? Are you trying to kill her?" Ethan screamed, rushing to cradle Sera in his arms.

Before I could say a word, Father's hand flew across my face with full werewolf strength.

"You bitch."

Since the silver poison hadn't completely cleared from my system and my wolf hadn't awakened yet, Father's slap sent me flying. I crashed to the ground, spitting up blood mixed with broken teeth fragments.

One of my teeth had been knocked out.

I wanted to explain, but looking at my family's eyes—filled with hatred, fury, and the desire to tear me apart—the words stuck in my throat.

My own blood relatives only believed Sera, this outsider.

No matter what I said, it would be considered lies. I was irredeemably evil in their eyes.

Sera sobbed in Ethan's arms:

"Damien brought me here to auction healing crystals because I'm just an injured Omega. We didn't mean anything else by it. You can't misunderstand us like this. Aria, if you hate me so much, just say the word and I'll disappear from this world forever. If you blame me for taking Damien away, I can give him back to you. I'll do anything to make you happy. But you can't push me into fire like that. We're family..."

Sera's performance brought tears to the Blackwood family's eyes.

"Aria, did you do this to her because you think Sera stole me from you?"

Damien stared at me in disbelief.

I met his gaze blankly.

Then I smiled and coughed up another mouthful of blood.

When a person reaches the ultimate depths of heartbreak, they actually laugh.

Seeing that I could still smile at a time like this, Damien's disappointment in me reached its peak.

"You know what? I don't hate you anymore."

"I hate my past blind self for ever wanting you as my mate. Thank goddess we never formed a mate bond."

"You deserve to die. I hope you die right now."

After delivering those words, he turned and left, carrying Sera away with the rest of the family to find a healer.

Watching their retreating figures, my laughter wouldn't stop.

The bystanders around me thought I'd gone completely insane.

I lay on the ground for a long time, unable to get up.

My heart had been completely shredded, riddled with holes. It could no longer feel pain.

What filled my dark eyes wasn't hatred or anger.

It was numbness taken to its absolute extreme—complete indifference.

It didn't matter anymore. In three days, they would never see this person who "deserved to die" ever again.

---

When I finally made it home, the laughter and conversation inside came to an abrupt halt.

Everyone looked at me with expressions that seemed to say: How do you have the face to come back?

It was like looking at a dog that had been beaten, had its legs broken, and thrown out—only to crawl back home on its crippled body.

"Is there really no possibility for us anymore?"Damien still didn't want to give up just like this.I didn't answer, but my silence had already given him the response. It wasn't that I couldn't refuse him.I just didn't know how to say goodbye without hurting him. This silence was my final gentleness toward him."I understand."Damien lowered his head and finally gave up.I helped him to his feet and took out a healing crystal from my white coat pocket.Damien recognized it immediately. This was the first gift I had ever given him, something I had searched for through countless hardships, and it had helped him through a difficult time. But when he fell for Sera, he had returned this meaningful healing crystal to me in order to completely sever his feelings for me.This was the thing he regretted most.He had originally thought the healing crystal had been destroyed along with everything else, never imagining that I had kept it with me all this time."I should have destroyed this along

The temperature was so cold it seemed ready to freeze the air into frost.Only when the taste of rust spread between his lips and teeth did Damien realize he had bitten through his lower lip.For this reunion, he had spent twelve full months searching almost every corner of werewolf territory. He had completely neglected all pack affairs, leaving everything to his beta assistant. The elders couldn't bear to watch the former golden boy Damien continue in such a dazed state, so they finally told him where I was. After getting the information, he immediately booked a plane ticket here.He had traveled dusty roads all the way, not even stopping for a drink of water. He just wanted to see the person who haunted his dreams as quickly as possible. However, after meeting me again, he discovered a cruel truth:I was no longer the little childhood friend from his memory who would endlessly tolerate and treat him gently. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find even a trace of affection in m

Under a chain of stars, on a stone bench soaked in moonlight, Kieran sat quietly curled up.He placed his forearm on my knee, but his gaze couldn't move away from my face.Only when the healing salve touched his burn did he suck in a sharp breath and come back to his senses."The burn is quite serious. If you don't treat it properly, it'll leave a scar. You're going to be the Alpha King someday. How can you be so careless as to get burned by kitchen flames?""It doesn't matter. Scars are a warrior's honor. Besides, I'm just a man—who would care if I have a few scars on my arm—""I care."I sighed, making the boy's eyes go blank. After applying the medicine, I looked at him seriously."Kieran, you should go back tomorrow. I understand your feelings, but I don't have time for romance right now. I don't want you wasting your youth here for me. You're the Alpha King's heir. You have more important things waiting for you."Kieran opened his mouth, about to say something, when I continued:"

Next to a ginkgo tree on the western lawn of the Alliance's secret research facility, I found a warm spot to sit down. The smell of disinfectant from the laboratory still lingered in my nostrils. I unbuttoned my collar, breathing in the fresh outdoor air as I scattered crumbled whole wheat bread to the gray and white flock of pigeons.I had been at this secret research facility for three months now.Once I entered the laboratory, I often stayed for an entire day.The access card in my pocket seemed ready to leave permanent marks on my white lab coat.Such busyness would be unbearable for most people, but for me, after experiencing so many difficulties, this was nothing. I was more fulfilled now than I had ever been in my life.In the laboratory's new drug development team, my partner members were all the greatest healers in the current werewolf world.Although I was currently just an assistant in the laboratory, in these short three months, I had learned more than I had in all my previ

The dull thud of fists hitting flesh exploded through the living room. An Omega couldn't possibly withstand a werewolf's assault.Sera's wails gradually became fragmented. She convulsed like a dehydrated fish struggling for water, her face covered in snot and tears."I'm sorry, Uncle Marcus... I'm just a bastard with no parents. I wanted a family so badly that I told those lies."She suddenly grabbed Father's pant leg, her forehead hitting the floor hard enough to leave purple bruises."Please spare me. I'll never lie again. Please, I'm begging you to spare me."Father stared at her with bloodshot eyes. Her answer was an even more violent barrage of punches. When Father finally stopped, Sera lay on the ground like a dead dog, barely breathing."Dad." Ethan's voice sounded like it was floating from an ice cave. "The day I encountered the rogue wolves... who really saved me? And who made the antidote?"Father's body shuddered violently. He suddenly began slapping himself frantically."It

Seeing Father about to casually toss the recording device into the trash, Damien immediately stepped forward."Wait. I want to hear what's recorded on this."The Blackwood family's words had reminded him of something important.I had deliberately placed this recording device in a gift box and left it in such a conspicuous place. There had to be a reason."What's there to listen to? It's probably just some curses against us. Too inauspicious. Better to throw it away."Sera unnaturally stood up, trying to remove the tape from the recording device. Her behavior was extremely nervous, completely unlike the composed person she usually was. This impulsive action was totally out of character for her."Stop."Damien wouldn't let her succeed and immediately stepped forward to stop her.As they struggled over the device, Damien managed to press the play button first. After a burst of static, a triumphant voice rang out:"Aria Blackwood, get on your knees and beg me.""I might let Daddy forgive y
