LOGINThe following day at school, everyone was gazing at me, discussing the video that had gone viral. I could overhear them murmuring that even an unattractive girl like me thought she could win Ethan's heart.
I chose to disregard their comments and then decided to find Ethan, knowing he would likely be in one of the vacant rooms designated for high-achieving students. As I entered, I could hear a woman's voice making soft sounds, and I cautiously approached to see what was happening.
Then I saw it.
She was on the table with her school uniform down to her shoulder revealing her breast and Ethan was in front of her kissing her while his hands were under her skirt and I knew instantly that he was definitely fingering her
The girl's moan intensified, and at that moment, she opened her eyes and gasped upon seeing me. Ethan, who had been still, turned to glance at me before rolling his eyes.
The girl quickly adjusted her dress and winked at Ethan
“Guess I’ll see you later” she said and frowned at me before leaving the room
Ethan let out a sigh in disappointment and then he brought out a handkerchief and cleaned his hands
“Oh shit, I really need to wash that dirty slut cum off my hand” I I heard him mumble, and I thought if only the girl could hear what he just said, then he walked by me and headed straight to the bathroom in the room.
Rich people have certain privileges; they truly possess everything at this school.
After rinsing his hands, he used sanitizer and even sprayed himself with perfume as if the girl actually disgust him.
“I didn’t come here to witness all this nonsense you’re performing right now; I came to tell you that you should ask your dad to cancel this. If your father can cancel it, then my parents will have no choice but to accept that it’s canceled,” I said, and he smacked his lips.
“I guess you’re completely unaware of what’s happening right now,” he replied, and I shot him a glare.
“Father must have his reasons, and he won’t simply back down. Moreover, I discovered something,” he continued, moving closer.
“Your father owes father something, and to repay him, he decided to trade you,” he stated, and I found it incredibly hard to believe what I was hearing.
“What I don’t understand is why you?” he continued, “But you know, I can’t even stand being in the same room as you, so I took matters into my own hands,” he said in a chillingly sinister way, and I couldn’t tell which was more unsettling.
My dad trading me or him saying he had taken matters into his own hands.
“I wish you luck in whatever you see and….” I cut him off and quickly exited the room. However, as soon as I stepped out and took a few paces forward, I noticed two men approaching with our homeroom teacher while other students whispered and pointed at me.
What’s happening?
“I can’t believe you would do something like that,” the homeroom teacher exclaimed, and I couldn’t comprehend what she meant.
“I’m Detective Mike, and you must be Skylar Jones,” the bald man asked, to which I nervously nodded.
“We received information concerning you, so could you please take us to your locker?” the man said, and I felt a surge of fear as I nodded and led them to my locker.
“Open it,” the other detective instructed, and I noticed the way the other students were watching me as I opened my locker.
The detective searched for whatever they were looking for, and suddenly something emerged from the book he took out of my locker; it looked like a white substance, resembling a pill.
How did that end up there? Just then, the detective picked it up, examined it, and signaled to the other detective to confirm whatever it was.
“Oh goodness, it’s true, you’re involved with drugs?? I’m disappointed in you. You want to ruin the school’s reputation??” the teacher shouted, and I stood in shock, shaking my head.
“No, that’s impossible; it’s not true,” I screamed.
“We would like you to accompany us, miss,” the detective stated.
“NO, that doesn’t belong to me; I have no idea how it got there!” I shouted again.

At the station, the detectives interrogated me and insisted I tell them the truth, but the only truth I knew was that I had no knowledge of it. They showed me CCTV footage of me exchanging something with a guy, and no matter how hard I tried to explain to them that it was a weight loss pill I was exchanging with the guy. they didn’t believe me, as they claimed they had arrested the guy who confessed to selling drugs to me.
“This is all Ethan’s fault, trust me; he’s behind all this,” I stated.
“You mean Ethan Reynolds ?”
“Yes, he did this; he’s attempting to frame me. I’m sure he must have bribed the guy to lie; please just trust me,” I implored.
“Miss, you’re not helping yourself; you’re now accusing Ethan of lying, perhaps because he refused your offer??” the detective retorted, and my jaw dropped. “And why would he try to frame someone like you?” he asked.
“Because we are supposed to be engaged and he doesn’t want to marry me,” I shouted, and the detective just glanced at the documents in front of him and sighed.
“We contacted your parents about an hour ago, but they haven't arrived yet,” the detective mentioned just as I caught my name being called. I turned to see my dad, his face, expressionless as he approached us.
“Are you her guardian?” the detective asked, and my dad nodded. “Actually, I’m her father,” he responded, making the detective to rise.
“Well, I need to have a private conversation with you,” he said, and the two moved to a secluded area, talking while occasionally glancing at me. After what felt like an eternity, they returned.
“Let’s go,” my father said, leaving me taken aback.
“Miss, you will have to return here tomorrow since you’re still considered a suspect. We’ve taken your blood samples, and if the results come back positive, you could be in serious trouble,” the detective informed me. I then stood and followed my dad outside.
“I didn’t do it. If the blood results come back, everything will be cleared up,” I told my dad once we were outside the station, but he didn’t respond.
“You don’t believe me?”
“The results could come back positive even if you’re innocent, and if you wish for them to come back negative, you should agree to the proposal and get engaged, or your life will be at risk,” my dad said, leaving me in shock.
“What are you saying? Is this still about the engagement? Do you truly see me as a bargaining chip?” I asked, looking at him directly.
“I’ll contact Mr. Reynolds and let him know you’ve finally consented,” he said, and I scoffed.
“Is there something you’re hiding from me? Am I just someone to be tossed around? I have feelings too, and I’m not getting engaged,” I shouted before running away from him, ignoring his attempts to call me back.
I’m heading straight to Mr. Reynolds’ house because I want none of this.
———
Upon arriving at the mansion, I noticed it was six times the size of our home, and one of the men who let me in informed me that I should wait for him as it would take a while.
They didn't really allow me inside the house but instead directed me to a canopy in the compound, which served as a resting area where I could observe everything happening around. Just then, my phone chimed, and I checked to see that it was a message from the school forum insulting me.
"Why is this happening to me? My life is already difficult enough; why did I have to get involved in this mess?" I muttered in frustration to myself.
"Why did that bastard Ethan have to set me up for this?" I added.
"Bastard Ethan?" I heard someone say, startling me and causing me to notice a guy standing behind me.
He is tall, with broad shoulders that seem to go on forever, and his jawline is sharply defined; his dark hair is messy yet perfectly disheveled.
Who is he? Is he one of the security guards?
As he moved, his muscles flexed under his fitted shirt, and I was taken aback when he sat next to me, making me shift a bit.
"You have such uniquely beautiful eyes," he said while gazing at me, which caught me off guard. "Those hazel green eyes," he added, and although I was aware of my eye color, this was the first time someone had actually complimented them, yet I remained silent.
"You must be the girl my brother is meant to get engaged to," he stated, which clarified everything.
He’s Ethan’s brother .
I thought Ethan was an only child.
I quickly got to my feet, and he scoffed as he stood too.
"Why are you here? Oh, let me guess, you're here to inform father that you’re not interested in the engagement?" he said, and I noticed how he avoided saying ‘my’ and just referred to father just like Ethan.
"What I'm here for is none of your concern," I replied.
"Get engaged to Ethan," he said, and I scoffed, realizing he's just trying to side with his father too.
I grabbed my bag from the chair where I’d been sitting, intending to leave his company.
"I'll help you," he offered, and I looked at him. "Everyone hates you; they don’t value you, they don’t care how you feel; they just want to take advantage of you. I understand it may be tough to trust someone like me, whom you’ve just met, but believe me, we are quite alike, except for the fact that you allowed them to use you, while I did not," he explained, leaving me puzzled by his words.
"Getting engaged to Ethan is the ultimate form of revenge, and you know what the perfect revenge is? Transforming yourself into someone new, and I’ll help you make that happen," he said. At that moment, I heard a horn, and a car approached the garage, with two men rushing to it to open the back seat, allowing Mr. Reynolds to step out.
"The choice is yours," he declared, and I looked at him, unable to trust him. Why did he want to assist me?
Then a thought struck me, and in that instant, I realized the exact choice I should make, and I was prepared for it.

When we arrived at the event, the back door of the car swung open, and he stepped out first. Then he turned, reached his hand toward me, and without hesitation, I took it as I climbed out. The moment we appeared, camera flashes lit up like lightning , reporters calling out, a few fans behind the ropes murmuring and pointing. We both just looked, playing our roles, waving like a picture-perfect couple as we walked the red carpet together, side by side. When we got inside , everyone was dressed in black. The room was thick with quiet conversations, glasses clinking, and the subtle weight of grief in the air. Then I saw it , Isabella’s face printed on a large poster near the stage. I couldn’t take my eyes off it for a moment, until a familiar voice pulled me back.“Crazy, isn’t it?” Dave said, walking up to us with a small group. I recognized most of them from the reunion. “That Isabella Grant actually committed suicide.”“But she did,” a lady added softly. “The autopsy confirmed she ing
When I left Mr. Reynolds’ estate, my mind wouldn’t stop spinning with everything he said.Marry Kael… instead of Ethan?Out of nowhere, he just dropped that like it was the most normal thing in the world. Why now? What’s his angle?I sat in the car, Kael’s number staring back at me on my phone screen. My thumb hovered over the dial. My mind went back to that day, the vase. How Kael didn’t even flinch when he jumped in front of me, taking the hit without hesitation. He brushed it off like it was nothing, but now? Now it’s ruined his swimming career?I was still lost in thought when my phone vibrated. I glanced down and froze. It was Kael.I actually looked around the car like he could somehow see me. What were the odds of him calling right at that moment?I picked up and cleared my throat.“Hello,” I said, trying to sound normal. There was a pause. Then his voice came through, soft but steady.“How are you?”“I’m fine,” I replied. But in my head, a million questions were lining up.Doe
(The Next Day) ———After getting dressed, I was finally ready to head over to Mr. Reynolds’ place. But the second I opened the door, my heart nearly jumped out of my chest.Ethan was standing right there.“Damn, you scared me,” I muttered, placing a hand over my chest. My eyes trailed down to the tray in his hands , toast, jam, something that looked like tea… and medicine.“Don’t tell me you’ve been standing there all this while,” I asked, squinting at him suspiciously. He shook his head. “I just got here. The moment I was about to knock, you opened the door.”Convenient but I wasn’t entirely convinced. He looked me over, his eyes lingering for a second too long on my stomach. “How are you feeling?” he asked, voice soft but steady. I knew exactly what he meant, the cramps.“I’m good, as you can see. And actually, I’m heading out,” I said, brushing past it.He tilted his head slightly, then glanced at the tray in his hands before looking back at me, like he was silently saying, Really
“You’re back again?” Ethan asked, looking straight at the detectives.“Yes, and this time we’re here with a warrant,” one of them replied, pulling out a folded document and showing it to him.Ethan’s eyes flicked toward me, confused for a second.“Oh, no,” the second detective quickly added, probably noticing the glance. “We’re not here for your girlfriend. We’re actually here for you.”Wait… what?Had Tiara already shown them the video? Why Ethan?“Me?” Ethan echoed with a short, dry chuckle. “Alright then. But give me a few minutes,” he said, sounding way too calm for someone about to be taken in and he walked toward me.“You should eat,” he said quietly.I looked from him to the detectives who were now watching us with visible impatience.“I mean now,” he added, firmer this time. “I need to see you eat and take your medicine before I leave.”Was he being serious right now?One of the detectives, the one who looked like he was in charge, stepped forward. “We don’t have time for…”“I
I just kept looking at him, not saying a word.“I know you intentionally walked into my life,” he said, eyes fixed on mine but I still didn’t respond.Does he know the truth? No… that can’t be.“I overheard you the day you were talking to Mrs. Mabel,” he continued “You told her you and your friends made some stupid bet. That the goal was to get close to someone powerful, and that you were assigned to me.”My brow lifted slightly as I tried to fully register what he just said. That was when it clicked, I remembered telling Mrs. Mabel that. A lie I used just to gain her trust, and she had believed it. I had no idea Ethan had overheard.“And you told her you started to fall for me the more you got close to me,” he added and I scoffed quietly to myself. “I know that’s a lie,” he said, his voice low, “because it’s obvious you hate me. I see it every time you look at me and that’s what I’m trying to figure out.”The cramps in my stomach started acting up again, but I did everything I could
I didn’t even know how long I’d been standing there, staring at nothing in particular, until I heard a voice behind me.“So you really chose Ethan over her?” It was Kael. “She told me everything,” he added.I turned around slowly, my throat tightening. “Why are you saying that too?” My voice cracked a bit, so I cleared it. “Seriously, Kael… why are you talking like that?”He walked closer, his face was kinda calm but his eyes were sharp. “Because it looks like it” he said I sighed, frustrated. “I don’t know, okay? I’m not saying Ethan’s perfect. I know he can be dangerous. I’m not stupid. But… there’s just something in me that keeps saying he didn’t do it. He didn’t hurt Tiara,”Kael raised an eyebrow. “And what, you believe that because he told you? That’s it?” He said but I didn’t reply.I didn’t respond right away, I just looked at him.“Look, I know you and Ethan don’t exactly like each other,” I said, holding his gaze, “but he’s still your brother. Deep down, do you really
