Chapter 21

Marcus helped his wife get the much-needed shower and personally went to the kitchen and cooked her a meal. He never liked cooking, not even for himself, but he made an exception.

He brought the suffering on his wife, and that was a fact that he was aware of. So it was his duty to at least cheer her up. He could see she was slowly slipping into depression, and if he did not do anything to cheer her up, he was going to end up with a depressed wife.

Nera barely touched the food; she did not feel like eating but because of Marcus's effort she tried forcing herself.

"I have an idea," Marcus suggested.

Nera raised her eyes, but she did not say a single word.

"Let's go on vacation; maybe a change of environment is what we need," he suggested.

Nera only looked away, uninterested, as she put her food away.

Marcus grabbed her hands and said, "Listen, I know you have given up."

"Maybe we should just adopt," Nera replied abruptly, without thinking. For days, she had been thinking of just walking
