TRAVIS SKY
"Honey, what are you doing not in your tuxedo?" My mother asked as she walked into my room. I hadn't even heard her open the door. "You know if you don't hurry, your father is going to flip this house upside down… literally." She smiled with her arms akimbo. "I will only be a minute more." "Are you going to spend that extra minute sitting on your desk and staring out the window like a depressed teenage girl?" She asked as she strolled towards me but I remained silent. She sighed, placing a hand on my shoulder, "honey," her lips curved into a faint smile, "I don't know what to say to make you feel better, I am honestly sorry about everything your father is putting you through." I looked away from the window then at her. "There is no need to be sorry mom, I really am fine now." "Really?" She questioned in a tone that portrayed the disbelief in her. "Yeah! When I realized that what I am doing is what is right for every single one of us, including her and the whole community, it stopped bothering me." "You sure don't act like it." "But I am, I really am fine." I forced a smile on my face. She cupped my cheek in her soft palm, "I hope you find love and happiness in your new home sweetie." "It is not my wedding day yet, save those speeches for the main event." She smiled, "I understand." She placed a kiss on my cheek. "I will leave you to get ready, one minute sweetie." "Yes mom." I responded with a roll of my eyes.I got up from my desk and got dressed then joined them downstairs. ★•★ Mushroom soup, bitter greens with tomatoes the size of peas, rare roast beef slices as thin as paper, noodles in a green sauce, cheese that melts on your tongue served with sweet blue grapes. The servers, all young people dressed in white tunics, moved wordlessly to and from the table, keeping the platters and glasses full. Food floated in on platers as good as any in New Orleans. The sight and aroma of the food was a gentle massage to my soul and pleasing to my nostrils. My taste buds were already tingling just as the sight of the food and my wanted to go wild and bury his face into every dish but I managed to calm him."Travis!" One of the women seated at the table called my attention away from the food. She had on her face one of the most beautiful smiles in the room. "My name is Natasha, I am Darla's mother." "Nice to meet you ma'am." I smiled back at her with a slight bow of my head. "Lovely to make your acquaintance dear, this is my daughter Darla, your bride." She smiled and pointed to the little girl that sat opposite me. I squinted, just to be sure I wasn't seeing wrong. "She… is Darla… my bride to be?" I asked again and she just nodded with a smile. "Hi!" Little Darla blushed at me. I turned to my parents and shot them with a confused look but they didn't even notice me. If I wouldn't be mistaken, she looked at most fourteen, anime blue eyes, red thin lips, not petite but small body, small ears, small everything… it was child abuse. "I am very sorry to ask this but uhm… how old is little Darla?" Her mother giggled loudly accompanied with snorts. "Oh excuse my manners, I am so sorry." The rest of her family joined in on the laughter and I was left wondering what comedy I acted for them. "Travis?" Little Darla called out to me with her tiny voice. "I hear it a lot, I understand your reason for the question. I am actually nineteen years old." What? She is actually the same age as America, how is that even possible? Yes America was little in stature but definitely not like her. "Wow! I am so sorry for asking by the way." I tried to cover the disbelief in my eyes. "It's fine, you are my husband anyway." She smiled. "I heard you had to reject your mate because of me, it's so sweet of you, thanks honey." I was starting to get grossed out by her "trying to be sweet" behavior. "Now that that's settled, let us dine." Her mother instructed. "How is the food treating you Travis dear?". "Very well ma'am." I smiled. "Enjoy." ★•★ Of all the things that happened at the table, the only thing I enjoyed was the delicious delicacy, it filled the hungry wolf in me. "What the hell dude? You snubbed my whole calls!" Dylan exclaimed as he marched towards me. "So sorry, I was at an introductory dinner with my fiancée and her pack." "Really dude? I know you guys broke up but I thought it was due to circumstances." "What are you talking about?" I frowned. "America is missing dude." I felt my eyes widened in shock. "What?" ★•★ "America!" "America!" Celestia called out in tears. "She is so little, she doesn't know anyone out there." I could feel how heartbroken she was. My wolf couldn't hold it in, he ran the entire forest till he was tired just so he feel a little peace. "Where are you A?" ★•★ Standing at the altar, I was rethinking the whole marriage decision when she walked in with her hand interlinked with her dad's. "Do you take Travis Sky to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death?" The preacher asked her. "I do. This is my solemn vow." She responded with a wide grin on her little face. "Do you take Darla Reynolds to be your lawfully wedded wife?..."They all stared at me with Inquisition on their bright faces all waiting for me to respond. "Travis." Darla whispered. "I….AMERICA DAVIES SEVEN YEARS LATER... "Kids hurry up, it's time for breakfast!" I yelled out. I was flipping pancakes, making toasts, packing the kids lunch and preparing some fresh orange juice. "Mom! Dara won't give me back Mr bunny ears!" Lara yelled out as she ran down the stairs, almost in tears. "Lara please don't cry, Dara where is the teddy?" "I only wanted to borrow it." Dara explained as he descended from the stairs with a stuffed rabbit in his hand. "Well she doesn't want to borrow you right now, how many times have I told you to stop bugging your sister?""I'm sorry Mom, here you go Lara." He said as he handed the stuffed animal to his sister. "Where is Cara?" I asked as I served them breakfast. "In the bathroom." Lara said, already eating her pancakes. "Why?" "Her tooth fell out this morning." She said as she played with her pancakes and her leg dangled happily from the chair. "Oh dear, Lara stop playing with your food, Dara finish your food, I'm going to get
TRAVIS SKYThe neighboring community had finally promised to caution their rogues from breaching our territory and everything else was intact... It was a job well done for me."I must say, you are doing a better job than I thought you would." Alaric complimented.I smiled in response. We both strolled down the busy town, exchanging greetings with a few people and cross checked for anything that might seem out of place. "I heard your sister came visiting.""Yeah, I'll be going to see her later today." "Okay Travis, send my greetings alright?" He nudged my shoulder, "I gotta go meet Laura and the pups." He said before running off."Tell her I said hi!" I yelled and he nodded in response.Ever since I became the alpha, I had been ready for everything life threw at me, even when I had to battle a stronger wolf to save my community, I prevailed to my utmost surprise. But the one thing I was yet to conquer was the infinity between my wife and I."You're back early today." Darla uttered wi
AMERICA DAVIESFeeling like the last drop of liquid in me had dried up, I took yet another large gulp from the glass of water in my hand. I kept tapping my feet on the ground and the sound it produced annoyed me but I didn't stop, I couldn't."Let's bail it." My wolf told me but I refused. "We are doing this for the pups, remember? He is the only one that can help us find them." "Crap!" "Are you ready to see him?" Alaric interrupted our conversation."Huh? Yeah." I forced a smile on my face. I got up and nervously followed him as he led the way. I felt a knot in my stomach and my pores began to leak with sweat. I felt my heart pounding like it wanted to bail on me but I had to remain strong. "For the kids, for the kids, for the kids...." I repeated the mantra in my head. There he was, sitting only a few steps from me. His eyes lingered on me while his facial expression portrayed bewilderment... So I felt. His beautiful eyes were fixed on me and I felt my whole self freeze. It was
TRAVIS SKYI rushed to her just in time to break her fall, she was frozen still in my arms like a statue-- just like the night my dad and I found her in the freezing snow. "Are you okay?" Celestia asked as she rushed to us.Just like the night she had a nightmare, I huddled her in my arms while gently patting on her back. She felt so little in my arms and her familiar scent caressed my nose. I had missed her so much and I had forgotten how helpless she became whenever she was frightened. The others gathered around us, all asking the same question Celestia did. She raised her fidgeting index finger to the window and broken words escaped her trembling mouth. "There...there was someone... Out there.""Go survey the surroundings now!" I instructed Alaric and Dylan followed. As her consciousness started to kick in, she jerked free from my hold, obviously not with the intention of being so rough as her lips curved into an awkward smile. She folded into Celestia's arms, seemingly more c
AMERICA DAVIES"Mom! Marshall drank my milk!" Marshall and Misha were twins and they were five while Jessy was three. As Misha whined to her mother about her brother drinking her milk, Marshall also yelled in an attempt to justify his action and Celestia seemed to be having a mental breakdown."Are those two always like that?" I asked Jessy who was relaxing in my arms the whole evening."They are always fighting and giving mommy a headache." "Should we help?" "Mommy can handle it." She plainly responded as she played with her doll."Enough!" Celestia growled at the twin who instantly fell silent. "If you wanted more milk Marshall then you should have asked me and Misha... Learn to share." The latter words came out with a devastated sigh."Yes mommy." They both responded before running up the stairs.Celestia tiredly dragged her feet as she walked and settled next to me on the couch. "Twins are a headache, how do you raise triplets?" "It's not easy." A bittersweet chuckle escaped m
TRAVIS SKYAll my life, I've loved only four women and I was willing to die for them, the first woman I ever knew… my mother, two others are my sisters and the last was America.I had protected my mother and sisters all my life and I would do it over and over again but I had never gotten the chance to protect America, instead, I hurt her, I caused her unforgettable pain that also scared my heart but I believed I could change that and I needed to prove it to her and myself."Leave before I make you." "Tch…" he smirked. "Didn't you hear me? There is silver inside this…"Before he finished his words, I dashed across the room with a strength boosted by the surge of confidence in me. Taking possession of his weapon, I attempted to snap his arm to the back but he was fast enough to dodge my attack. I threw the gun at America, "run!" I commanded and she instantly did. It was dark and rainy so she allowed her wolf take the lead. He sent a claw across my face but I managed to snap his hand
AMERICA DAVIESGasping uncontrollably as I jolted awake from my nightmare, I felt sweat all over my face and heat burned through my skin.Desperate for fresh air, I took to the window to open it but I found Travis' dad and another woman standing outside my house. Peaking through the window blinds, I could hear them arguing."You have disobeyed the pact that brought both communities together which means you have declared war." The woman hollered as she advanced forward a little with her arms akimbo."War?" Travis questioned in confusion. "What are you--dad, what is she talking about?" "Face me and not your father." She frowned. "I did no such thing! What are you talking about?" Travis frowned in abashment as he turned to the woman. His hand was carefully placed below his rib, obviously still hurting from last night's fight."Oh really?" She arched her brow, "both communities were brought together by your marriage to my daughter but yet here you are, passing the night at another woman
TRAVIS SKYIt was all starting to make sense to me!A few days to myself was all I needed to put a few of the puzzle pieces hopefully in the right places which I hoped would at least-if not find the kids-give us a clue or a head start. Her living room was an inviting aroma of roses and lavender with the sweet smell of fresh coffee. A brittle toast was placed on a plate with a side of peas and a smoking cup of brown coffee."I didn't really get much food since it was just me but here is peanut butter and jelly if you'd like to spread some on your toast." She uttered with a brief smile before placing the spreads in front of me."Thanks." I smiled."I'm really sorry about the other day." "It's okay, I should be the one apologizing cause I couldn't save you from the bullet." "Are you kidding? I'm only alive because of you." I felt her smile travel all the way to the bottom of my heart and it made it skip a beat. "So what's your theory?" She asked as her smile faded away. "Right! So the
