Chapter 131

Dominic’s POV

Elora hadn’t eaten in, what, two days now? Maybe three? Time was a blur.

The healer’s potions kept her running on fumes... barely. Dante was always busy, darting around, pretending to be all about the pack’s safety, but come on. I knew that look. The guy was hiding from the fact that he couldn’t do a squat to help her. I didn’t get to run away. If I left, who would sit here and make sure she didn’t slip away for good?

Every damn hour, I checked her water. Sat on the edge of her bed, feeding her like she was a kid. Once in a while, she’d mumble thanks, maybe flash a weak smile. But most of the time, she just drifted in and out of consciousness.

It killed me how small she looked. Like, this was the same woman who dragged us all through the war? Now she looked like she’d vanish if I breathed wrong.

She started gasping again, the way she did sometimes. I leaned in, hand on her chest, just trying to keep her here. “Easy, Elora. You’re okay. I got you,” I whispered.

Her eyes fluttered open, lashes barely moving. “You shouldn’t be here,” she said.

“Yeah, well, I’m not going anywhere,” I said back.

She tried to argue, but all that came out was a cough. I just signed and continued talking.

“You know, when I was a kid, my father used to toss me in the river every spring.” I said, bringing a strand of hair away from her face.

Her mouth moved, something like a smile. “Sounds… kind of awful.”

“Trust me, it was.” I laughed, short, sharp. “He said it’d make me tough. I nearly drowned three times before I figured out how to swim.”

She made a noise... could’ve been a laugh or a groan. It was hard to tell. “Did it work?”

“Make me strong?” I leaned back, trying to catch her gaze. “Not really. But I learned you don’t have to fight the river every time. Sometimes you just have to float and let it take you.”

She stared at me, and for a second, she actually saw me. “You always talk like the Moon wrote you love letters,” she murmured.

I snorted. “Maybe she did. Or maybe she just made me talk too much.”

Her hand twitched under the blanket, fingers looking for something. I grabbed her hand before it slipped away. She was cold and her skin was rough. I rubbed circles into her palm, desperate to keep her here.

“Don’t go, Elora. Not now, not when we’re finally putting the pieces back together.”

She sighed, eyes closing. “I’m trying. Feels like something’s dragging me under.”

“Then I’ll drag you right back.”

Her eyes watered, glinting. “Dominic...”

“Nope, no speeches,” I whispered. “You just listen. Stay with me.”

She nodded, barely.

So I rambled. Told her about stealing bread from the kitchen when I was thirteen. About the first time I shifted and got stuck until sunrise. About chasing a shooting star into the woods thinking I'd get a wish.

She smirked, eyes slowly closing. “Did it?”

“All I found was a pile of ashes,” I said, voice cracking a bit. “But I wished, anyway.”

“What’d you wish for?” she breathed.

I hesitated. Could’ve lied, but what was the point? “Someone who could see past the Alpha. Someone who could see the real me.”

Her breath became slower, but steady.

I squeezed her hand and whispered, “Pretty sure I found her.”

Her grip tightened on my fingers, barely there.

She opened her mouth to say something, but I wasn’t having it. I just shook my head. “You need to sleep. I’m not going anywhere.”

She just stared at me, for a long moment. Like she wanted to remember what I looked like when she closed her eyes. That weird connection between us, it hummed along, soft but powerful. Her pulse fluttered under my hand, delicate, yeah, but still beating.

Time went weird. Minutes, hours, who knows? The rest of the world just…poof. Gone. There was only her breathing, that slow rise and fall, keeping me grounded.

She moved closer, shivering with exhaustion. I slipped my arm around her, pulling her up so she could lean on me. She didn't fight it as her head landed against my chest, and at last, sighed in relaxation.

I held her, just listening to her breath even out, her fever smell easing a little. Her hair tickled my jaw, and something inside me finally chilled out. My heart stopped doing that anxious thumping, and I felt like even the sound of it calmed her, too.

The bond between us pulsed again, low, steady, impossible to ignore. My wolf didn’t snarl or snap or demand. He just…settled. Like, yeah, this is it. This is what we’re supposed to be.

He whispered in my head, all smug and sure. Ours.

I didn’t even bother arguing. What was the point?

Right then, with her heart beating against mine, her breath soft and steady, I finally got it. Like, I really understood what loving her meant.

It wasn’t about staking a claim or winning some cosmic lottery. None of that.

It was just showing up. Being there.

When she couldn’t stand on her own. When everything else went quiet.

It was promising her without words, that she wouldn’t have to face whatever was coming alone.

Her hand slipped off my shirt as she drifted, her body getting heavier on me. I leaned back, let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. All that tension? Gone.

The chaos in my chest finally calmed down.

For the first time in ages, my wolf just…relaxed. No itch. No fight. Just peace.

All because she fell asleep with her heart pressed to mine.

Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv

Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the

Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed

Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of

Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff

Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
