Chapter 13

Dante’s POV

The council chamber always has that weird smoky, inky, like maybe somebody dumped a bottle of cheap cologne on a mountain of paper. Scrolls everywhere, walls stacked so high, it’s a miracle no one got crushed yet. Torches barely hanging on, flames twitching and tossing shadows across the elders’ faces, exaggerating every wrinkle and frown. These meetings were supposed to be some kind of bureaucratic nap-fest. Chopping up land, arguing the price of rabbit jerky, moaning about broken wagons... but today felt off from the jump.

All because Dominic went rogue.

Just turned, plain as day, and locked eyes with Elora.

“Well, Luna, what’s your take?” he tossed out, with that smooth, neutral tone he rocks when he’s pretending not to stir the pot. Like he wanted her opinion on the fog rolling in.

The whole room went silent at once.

My chest had an annoying clutch.

Elora did a double-take. Blinking like she was surprised or something. I spotted that telltale shake in her fingers, but she straightened up, iron in the spine. Met every single one of those old wolves' eyes before she opened her mouth.

When her voice rang out, it was a whole different, slicing right through the air.

“If we keep letting the east border get hunted out, we’re screwed by winter,” she said. “We’ve played catch-up long enough. Put hunting parties on a rotation, keep tabs on the herd, or we’ll end up starving and sorry.”

She just dropped sense like a sledgehammer.

The elders shuffled, whispers sparking like dry leaves. Old Wolfrick, or whatever name he’s gone by for half a century, gave a slow nod. “Ain’t wrong. The deer are about gone.”

A second elder grumbled, refusing to sound impressed, “Venison’s it. We lose that, we’re done. Better to ration now.”

And you know what? You could see the relief start to leak into her shoulders, but the spark in her eyes just got brighter.

She leaned in, a little bolder. “Also, we should hit up Shadowfang for trade. They’ve got livestock, don’t hunt so hard as us. They’re practically begging for a reason to team up. Could work for both packs.”

You could have heard a feather drop. Every jaw hit the floor.

Not just at the plan. At the guts to go bold, standing in a den full of gray wolves who eat uncertainty for breakfast.

Couldn’t help it. My heart did a backflip.

I swallowed.

Nope, not happening, feelings. Not today. Not mine to want. Law, personal or otherwise.

Dominic sat back, his face plain, but he didn’t shut her down. That’s what got me...he just tipped his head, like, “Of course, this is exactly what I expected.”

 “You heard her. Get started.”

The elders hopped too. Discussion over, just like that.

I should have felt lighter. Instead, I felt singed, scorched, like my ribs decided to play squeeze-the-human. Pride mixed up with... something else. Something molten and totally unwelcome.

Elora was all flames in that dark room, burning steady, burning bright. Made me remember all the reasons that stupid invisible thread between us refuses to break, no matter what I tell myself.

And I just killed myself.

Because I made promises. To her, to myself. I wasn’t going to chase her. Friendship, end of story. But as she walked out, cheeks flushed, eyes fierce and shining, my stubborn heart didn’t give a damn about my fine speeches.

It jumped anyway.

When everyone eventually wandered out, hunched over their scrolls, shuffling like the undead, I lingered.

Elora snatched up her papers, organized to the point of obsession, but her fingers shook a little now that the rush was gone. She didn’t spot me right away. Which, fine, I guess.

But then, she looked up and our eyes met. "You stayed," she said, like she didn’t quite trust it wasn’t a trick.

"Somebody had to make sure you weren’t attacked on your way out, right?" I shrugged.

Her mouth was quivering, not quite smiling. "You think the elders have it in them to throw hands?"

I snorted. "Their words could leave scars, you know."

That got a real, if soft, laugh. Honestly, I almost had to turn away. Not like her laughter could actually hurt, but it sure tried.

She went quiet for a second, then, almost too quiet for me to hear. "Thanks. For sticking around. Even if you didn’t say anything there. I could feel you had my back."

I swallowed. There was a lot I wanted to tell her, like how it wasn’t just in that council room, it was everywhere, all the time.

But I tamped it down, flattened my voice. "Told you before, I don’t want you to feel like you’re alone in this."

That was true. Or that’s what I told myself, kept repeating it. Not love. Not want. Just… looking out for an acquaintance stuck in an open marriage. Support, nothing more.

If I kept saying that, it would have to start feeling real.

By the time dusk hit, the gossip was in full hurricane mode. Heard it everywhere, hallways, kitchens, even the training yard.

"The Luna spoke out today, acted like an Alpha."

"Did you see Beta Dante? Guy barely blinked, just stared at her."

"Think Dominic lets her talk like that because of Dante?"

I had to jam my hands in my pockets so I wouldn’t punch a wall. Everyone was wrong. Had to be.

Because if they weren't…

Nope. Not going there.

Later, lying in bed, ceiling looking back at me like it knew all my secrets, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. Elora, in front of all those elders, voice clear, fire in her eyes.

And the way my heart reacted, like it recognized something I desperately wanted to lose.

Rolled onto my side, grumbling.

"She’s not yours," I muttered like an idiot. "Never was."

But the bond? Yeah, it didn’t listen. It pulled at me, hard, and didn’t care about reason.

And the really, truly pathetic part? Part of me almost wished things were different.

Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv

Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the

Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed

Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of

Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff

  • Fated To One, In Love With The Alpha Twins   Chapter 134

Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
