Sixty-Three

Cleo’s POV

As the sound of screaming bought me back to my surroundings, I was shocked by what I saw. Never in my life, with or without the darkness, had I committed something so violent and atrocious. The guard’s face was completely unrecognisable. It had been caved in from where id bashed it down on the wooden spike time and time again until there was almost nothing of his head left. I threw the corpse to the ground and took a step back, nausea building within me as my hands began to tremble.

I had been so lost in my rampage that I hadn’t even noticed Roman arrive. The look on his face was something that I would never forget. A mixture of fear and disgust. The way his eyes roamed over my face before turning his back to me made me feel even more sick. As addicting as the darkness was becoming, the last thing I wanted was for him to give up on me. He was supposed to be my salvation.
