PRIMUS ALEXANDER'S POV

It was 1 hour past noon before a movement caught my eye.

Aquamarine.

Again.

From the workshop to the far hallway.

Then back again.

At first, I thought she was just restless. Maybe trying to distract herself. Then Katherine joined her. They spoke for a while in front of my workshop till Katherine eventually left.

“She’s been… quiet lately,” I muttered, eyes locked on the stained-glass window. “More than usual.”

She wasn’t avoiding me, not exactly. But the shift was there.

“So you can notice something like that?" Levi asked, but I could hear the mockery underneath.

“How could I not?” I replied. “She barely speaks to me unless I initiate it. Skipped breakfast. Lost in thought.”

She stopped asking questions. She stopped being interested in the things around her. Not even the things I knew got her excited anymore.

Aquamarine was changing and I didn't like it.

But I couldn’t tell if it was because of me or because of something else.

Me. Did I scare her that much be

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV One year later “NO—ODIN—SIGRID—TOP THAT!” A burst of fire streaked past my head anyway and slammed into the wall that had already been rebuilt three times this month. I groaned and chased after them, skirts hitched, hair half loose, arms already aching. I pinched the bridge of my nose as two tiny red-white and gold blurs shot past me, laughing like maniacs, like they owned the place. Well, they actually do. “Listen!” I shouted. “Don’t make me get you!—” They roared. A shrill, delighted sound that echoed off the ceiling as they flew outside, fire raining down on the pack. I stopped at the threshold, chest heaving. “…Fine,” I muttered, breathing in that sharp winter air. “Burn it all.” I didn’t follow. Nobody bothered to. If Levi and Juliet were here then they probably would have tied them to a chair by now. I leaned against the stone instead and opened my hand. My fingers curled around it slowly, grateful that they didn’t see this to pl

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV I jumped. Glass exploded around me as I hurled myself through the window, the wind ripping the scream from my throat as the world dropped away— And fire answered. White-hot. Blinding. Violent. My bones shattered and reformed midair, wings tore from my back and scales rippled over my skin. My roar split the sky as I shifted fully, the white dragon tearing free of the castle’s shadow. Below me— Thorfinn. Cracked with molten gold and black stone veins. And on his head— Gwen. Gwen Silverthorn. The Dragon and his slave. His curse. But….. she looked ruined. Skin pale and peeling. Hair matted, tangled, falling out in patches. “Youuu,” she seethed Her voice sounded like claws scraping glass. “There you are,” she crooned, fingers digging into the space between Thorfinn’s scales. “My perfect flame.” Rage detonated inside me. "I don't belong to you." I slammed into Thorfinn midair, our bodies colliding with a thunderous crack. "Run,

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV “Gwen…?”The name slipped past my lips before I could stop it. “Gwen?” I muttered again… titling my head and squinting my eyes in confusion. My chest tightened. “Wait—Gwen?” I sit up straighter, staring at him. “As in… Gwen the witch?”My heart stops. It’s her. It’s really her.Alex’s eyes flicked away for the first time since he walked in. “Aye…” he murmured, voice going very low. “Aye, Aqua… the same one.”The air suddenly felt hot.He swallowed hard. “Aqua… hear me—”“No,” I whispered, heart racing more than it should. “Are you—” my breath catches, heat flaring up my spine. “Are you telling me that the woman destroying our lives… the woman who cursed you… the woman who—” My face twisted as the words choked in my throat. “She was your Gwen?”He flinched.“Aqua… I must speak plain,” he said, accent thickening, that barbarian rasp pushing through. “’Twas long before ye. Long before the curse. Long before I kent what she truly was.”Everything inside me starts s

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POVI went over to the children and touched them. I kissed their foreheads and inhaled their scents.Scents I could never hide.Lorgan’s words bruised my mind.I rubbed my temples and whispered, “So… make him yearn? How? What does that even mean?”Juliet stood a few steps away, trying to give me space without leaving the room. She always sensed when I was spiralling.“Are you alright?” she asked quietly.No.Not even close.“I just…” I swallowed. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know how to make a man yearn. What does that mean? Do I ignore him? Do I touch him?”Juliet blinked at me, unsure if I was serious.I was.“Luna,” she said softly, “it means… don’t give him what he expects. Or what he wants. Make him feel the absence. It's like what you did earlier. You gave him hope that he could touch his child, but you took that away from him. Just make him want you. Crave for you.”I stared at her. “I don’t know how to do that either.”Juliet opened her mouth to ans

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV I didn’t wait for Alexander to say another word.I just turned around and walked out of the dining hall before his eyes pierced me to death. The door had barely shut behind me when a loud crack echoed through the corridor.A spank.Followed by Katherine’s voice yelling.Lorgan followed behind me, his footsteps heavy and unbothered, like he was strolling into battle with a full stomach. When Juliet reached the study, I opened the door and stepped inside with the twins. Lorgan entered after me, closing it with the back of his foot.He didn’t wait.He sat on the chair next to the window and crossed his leg on the desk, tearing off another chunk of meat he’d brought with him like it was normal to carry roast into a study.“Soo, Whitey… ye dragged me from my feast. What do ye want?”I blinked, placing the kids on a bigger and softer chair. Whitey? Then he pointed the bone at me. “Ye don’t come to me unless somethin’s bitin’ yer mind.”I exhaled.“Levi told me you k

LUNA AQUAMARINE’S POV The room went still.“Why?”Alexander’s head shot up fast. “Do you want something else? Do you want something easier to swallow? Would you prefer fish?” His voice was full of worry as if he had done something bad and was trying to correct it.I blinked. Something else? Yes!Something that doesn't look like it was made by you. Do I look like I want to be poisoned? He stepped back and pushed Levi forward. “Levi, taste it first.”Levi's eyes went wide. “What—”“Do it,” Alexander growled.Levi hesitated, glanced at me, then at the food. He picked up a piece, chewed slowly. Then his eyes looked like they would pop out of his sockets. He stared at the food and then at Alexander before facing me again. But he didn’t say a word and I knew what he meant.Alexander turned to me. “Is that ok?”I shook my head, “I'd rather eat something from a known source.”Who knows what he must have put inside to make it good? What if I end up falling asleep and waking up to my son's bu
