Chapter 12: Second encounter

"About what are you muttering to yourself?"

I was startled and glanced up in an instant to see my father, standing right next to me. I was already so involved in what I was considering, that I failed to recognize his entrance into the room when he did it.

"Don't worry about it, Dad!" I immediately readjusted myself to the bed, and he sat down next to me. "What brings you to this place?" I asked, appearing puzzled.

"I have said to you that we need to talk about something crucial earlier. Have you forgotten so quickly?" He queried while intently gazing into my eyes, and expressing an anxious tone in his voice.

"Oh, yes, I do remember that!" I forced myself to grin to give the impression that everything was well with me. In order not to want him to detect even the slightest hint of annoyance in me, I decided to disregard what Mona told me earlier.
