Adrian’s POV

The full moon began shifting from silver to red in the sky, I screamed hard and my body seemed like it wanted to explode, my nails kept digging into the walls.

I couldn’t control what was happening, my wolf kept twitching.

My eyes were red like blood and my claws were halfly formed ,I could feel the curse blooming inside my body like poison.

I could feel the urge to rip, tear and destroy any human that comes close to me. My veins rose like cords beneath my skin. My body kept pulling towards the door and I could feel the intense urge to tear a person apart.

But I didn't want to hurt anyone, especially Elysia after all that happened with Mia .

But then, I clung to the edge of the wall, fighting the urge to move. I wrapped myself around the cold wall and gritted my teeth.

Something kept pulling me , something of which I didn’t know how to explain but I didn’t stop fighting it. I tightened my body like ropes.

My hands began to tremble and I noticed blood gushing from my palms to the ground and then I realized my claws had broken.

I groaned, still holding on to the wall. “Not this time, not now . You won’t win this time.”

But it was hard to hold on but I just couldn’t allow this to win this time .

The Moon Goddess had cursed me with this illness. This affliction . A punishment that turned me into a killer that I wasn’t, turned me into a beast that was ready to devour anyone.

Kyle had locked the door hours ago.

I trusted him and I was sure that he was going to keep Elysia from me this period.

He was the only one who’d seen what I became and still stayed loyal.

My voice began to shift already, deepening into something less human but more of like a wild and hungry beast.

Memories surged through the haze.

I could see her face, it was Mia . The sound of her scream reverberated inside my head.

Her blood.

Then her final scream before she faded away.

I slammed my head against the wall. I hated myself , the curse and what I did to Mia. I couldn’t suddenly erase that memory from my head, it kept hunting me.

I never wanted Elysia to ever see this. Never because I was scared she would hate me , I was scared she will be afraid of me.

I didn’t want her to know I could be a very dangerous beast. I was no better than the monsters who tried to torment and kill her.

I wanted her to see me as her protector, Her partner, her Alpha.

And not a beast, not an animal , not a killer.

And then , I could sniff a familiar scent close by and my heart seized for a bit .

The urge grew even more , “No, no,no no Elysia you are not supposed to be anywhere around her”. I cried and my veins bulged out even more.

I’d ordered Kyle earlier to keep her far away from me tonight,’what was she doing around here or has he failed me?’

I sniffed the air again hoping I was wrong but I wasn’t. Her scent was soft but now it was barely there. Seemed like she wasn’t close anymore , not close enough to see me. But I wasn't relieved, I was scared that I would hurt her .

I was scared I wouldn’t be able to hold on any longer.

“Moon Goddess please…,” before I couldn’t continue, I felt a pang of pain in my skull.

I crawled toward the heavy wooden door, my broken body urged to be outside.

My palms were filled with blood from my claws.

“Elysia please i don’t want you close, please listen to Kyle” I voiced out as I groaned.

I hope she is safe?

That was all that mattered right now. I slumped against the wall again

My rage spiraled, my body burning with fire as I sensed her retreat.

She’s safe.

That was all that mattered.

The curse had nearly consumed me this time. If I had seen her, if she had seen me I didn’t know if I would have been able to stop myself from hurting her.

And then I gritted my teeth. The thought of it made me sick.

I let my head fall back to the ground, I was breathing heavily. I needed this night to end already.

I needed morning to come so that the curse would release me. I wanted to get back to Elysia because I had a feeling she might be wondering where I was.

But the full moon was still high. ‘How long could I keep doing this? How long could I keep hiding this from her?’ I thought.

And then, I heard a voice and a faint knock on the door. My beast rose running towards the door hitting it hard . I couldn’t control myself.

“She’s alright,” the voice started, and didn’t seem frightened. “I got to her before she saw anything, she didn’t know it was you.I told her it was a rogue and I don’t think she suspects.”

Kyle was the only one that was never afraid of me during these nights. The voice was familiar , it sounded like Kyle.

Even in my current state, I could still recognize the soft sound of his voice.

The time passed for long, I didn’t know how long.

But the full moon slowly began to fade, my pacing slowly began to stop and my breath was starting to get stable.

“Adrian.”

I could hear the voice again and I was sure that it was Kyle. I didn’t answer at first but then he called out again.

“Yes,” my voice was low and I was trying to catch my breath from the screams earlier, my strength was nearly gone

Kyle unlocked the door , he saw me lying on the ground and then he rushed forward.

I let out a deep breath, I was glad the night was over already and this time I had won.

“The moon’s gone.” I nodded weakly.
