더 보기Elysia's POV
"Breathe Elysia. Breathe" I whispered to myself as I stood in front of the majestic door that led to the altar clutching my bouquet tightly with tears threatening to break out. I felt a tug on my wedding dress as Sarah my trusted maid and friend helped me adjust it "Smile my Luna and don't forget to breathe" she said in-between giggles " I put in all my efforts to make sure your makeup is breathtaking, don't ruin it with tears" Luna. Yes, I was about to be the wife of Alpha Tyler. Who would have ever imagined that the little frightened wolfless girl who had been rejected by her people would now be the Luna of Ravens Pack. "You may go in now" The guard's deep voice brought me back to reality The moment the doors were pushed open, my eyes landed on My Alpha, our eyes locked and the world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us. The pack members didn’t voice their doubts, but I could sense it in their glares the disbelief, the shock, the quiet judgment at how someone as low as I could rule them. Self-doubt crept in, they were right I was just an omega born without a wolf, and in less than five years I had risen to the point of being their Luna? Unheard of. But then I saw Tyler smile. My favorite smile it was soft warm, loving and that was all the assurance I needed to push myself towards him. As I took my place in front of him, he pulled me close, his lips brushing against mine in a tender kiss. A soft clearing of someone's throat broke our spell, followed by ripples of forced laughter from the crowd. “Just a few more minutes Alpha, and she'll be officially yours,” the elder whispered and Tyler replied with an even cuter smile. And the priest continued “On this fateful day, we are gathered to wed our Alpha and his chosen …” A distant shout cut through the elder’s words. “Stop!” The air rapidly grew tense and for a second, I thought I was imagining things but then the voice echoed again "Tyler.. Stop" The alarm in that voice and timing made my heart pound, causing me to instinctively reach for Tyler’s hand But I couldn't feel him. He wasn't there. A figure came running into view almost immediately making the crowd murmur amongst themselves “Tyler, stop, please I beg of you! You can’t do this!” she screamed once again, and I watched in shock as my Alpha hurriedly walked towards her as she fell in front of us “You can’t marry another when I bear your first child!” she screamed out in pain. Silence. A cold, suffocating silence rang in my head as I stared at the beautiful blond lady now wrapped in my Alpha.. My soon to be husband's hands. I stood frozen and rooted to the ground, as my bouquet slipped from my grasp while I watched my perfect day fall into chaos. The whispers around me grew louder. “I knew it,” I heard someone speak. “He’d never marry a wolfless woman with no origin, more or less an omega.” Their low and mocking laughter pricked my heart like tiny thorns My breaths came in short, ragged gasps. I wanted to move, to scream, but I couldn't I tried to say something, to say anything but nothing left my mouth. My knees buckled and chest tightened the whispers grew distant as my vision blurred, and I felt myself being dragged into a void as the world became blurry and then followed by darkness *** “My Luna! Please... please wake up!” The distressed voice felt distant as it repeatedly echoed in my head making my eyelids flutter open My voice barely above a whisper, I stared at Sarah and asked, “Where is he?” Sarah didn’t answer but the look on her face told me everything I had needed to know. It wasn't a dream. Tyler had indeed cheated on me and his mistress had ruined my wedding. A choked sob escaped my lips as my new harsh reality hit me like a ton of bricks and my world began to crumble around me again. So many thoughts and questions filled my head so much that Sarah's calming words were almost inaudible to me. Why? What did I do to deserve this? He was the one who had told me over and over again that he didn’t need a child to ascend the throne! He didn’t even want me pregnant until I was officially his Luna, but he was comfortable seeing another woman pregnant for him He had saved me, made me fall in love with him, only to break my heart on OUR WEDDING DAY. “You just woke up, please stop crying My Luna.” Sarah’s voice cut through my thoughts. “You need to eat something, or you’ll....” Luna? I let out a bitter laugh, stopping her, “You know I am not your Luna, Sarah.” The door suddenly creaked open, and my heart clenched as his scent wrapped around me as he walked into the room. “Elysia... Please we need to talk.” His voice was calm. But I couldn't bear to look at him. I felt Sarah hesitate and I nodded for her to leave, much to her dismay. Silence stretched between us before he finally broke it, “Say something…” For a moment, I was silent. Just staring at him. “like?” The word barely left my lips before anger surged through me, overshadowing my urge to break down crying in front of him as he stepped closer to me “DON’T YOU DARE, COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO ME YOU DECEITFUL DOG!” He flinched. “Answer me! What did I do to deserve this, Tyler?” My gaze dropped to my wedding dress, which was now nothing but a cruel joke. His throat bobbed as though he were struggling to find the words. “It was a mistake, Elysia. I was drunk. I didn’t mean it.” It sounded like he was sniffing, but I was no fool to fall for those words. A hollow, broken sound escaped my throat almost like a cry for help as I continued laughing This was supposed to be our wedding night, but here I was still, husband less “You’ve never touched me... Not even when you're drunk, Tyler. Why her?” I hissed, “Why? What's so special about her.... why did she have to get pregnant for you?” In the blink of an eye he covered the space between us and I felt his arms wrap around me. I pushed hard against his chest, my fists pounding against his chest weakly. "Why? Why?.. you said you loved me... Why? Tell me? It's because I'm wolfless right..." It felt like I was drowning in my own grief but he said nothing instead his grip on my body tightened As my cries subsided, I managed to push Tyler away, my eyes red and puffy. I couldn't bear to look at him, but I had to know this. “How long?” I whispered. “How long have you been lying to me?” He had no answer. And that hurt me more than anything. I added sniffing, “Even if you won’t tell me the truth, answer this... was I ever going to be enough for you, were you ever going to accept me for me?” Tyler took a slow step forward, his eyes desperate—pleading. “Elysia, I made a mistake and I wish I could go back in time to correct it,” he started. “I really don't know how else I can assure you that you are enough, always have and...” The door suddenly burst open, cutting him short. A maid stood there, breathless. “Alpha! Your Luna just fainted!” Your Luna. Tyler stiffened. I saw the hesitation flicker in his eyes. His body swayed slightly toward me as if he wanted to finish what he was about to say, but it lasted only a second. Then he moved not towards me…. But toward her. “Tyler....” He stopped and turned his face pale, eyes pleading, “I’m sorry, Elysia... I never meant for any of this to happen. I swear on my mother's grave I love you,” He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his disheveled hair. “I have to go.” He had a choice and he made it… he left. My fists clenched at my sides. His Luna? His pregnant Luna? Five years. Five years of loyalty, of sacrifice, of standing by his side and yet... when it mattered... He chose her.Elysia's POVThe path toward the outer post I’d entered from earlier remained clear, but I didn’t want to risk slipping out again so soon, so as not to get caught. I needed to think. So I wandered around. Pretending to be one of them wasn’t as hard as I thought it’d be. Most of them seemed too tired and distracted. The guards greeted each other with tired nods. No one looked too long at anyone’s face. That worked to my advantage. As I circled around the central tower silently, passed the training yard—a large square of hardened dirt and straw dummies. A few guards were there, swinging their swords lazily. Further up the stone steps was a side building. Probably a records room or a minor command center. I ducked behind a low wall and crouched, checking the bundle of keys in the cloth I had stolen. Then I saw one specific key, it was white, plain and it had a mark on its head. Maybe it could even open multiple doors, or maybe just that one cell.My thoughts kept drifting back to Li
Adrian’s POV“I wasn’t going to wait anymore. I needed answers from Jason in time.” I muttered, walking through the stone corridor that led to the underground cells.Kyle had offered to come with me, but I told him to stay back that I was going to do it alone.Jason, his name just popping into my mind made my haw clench.I pushed open the heavy iron door that led down to the underground cells. The guards stationed near the entrance stepped aside without a word. They must have seen how pissed I was.I made my way down the passage, the room light was dim, I could smell the rot of his blood.Jason had already been chained, beaten couple of times while I was away. I had ordered guards to have him beaten everyday till he tells where Lila was kept.He still had his arrogant smirk the last time I was with him. He didn't seem to be scared of death. The guard at the final door opened it when he saw me, and I stepped into the small cell. Jason was sitting on the ground, his back against the w
Elysia's POVMy heartbeat was fast like I was being chased as I moved from tree to tree in order not to get noticed. I had to be very careful because there were people close by that wished I was dead. The tall stone buildings loomed like silent sentinels in the night, dimly lit by flickering lanterns along gravel paths. I had one goal—find Lila.A pair of guards stood by one of the back entrances, lazily chatting and kicking at pebbles. I ducked behind a hedge and waited for them to move. After some minutes passed, I could hear their low murmurs, their laughter and the occasional sound of their boots against the ground. And then, finally, one of them walked toward the far end, disappearing into the thin air while the other was alone. I couldn't wait any longer, I had to move.I moved silently around the edge of the stone wall, He turned just in time to see me leap from the darkness. He opened his mouth in shock, His mouth opened in shock, but no sound escaped. My hand was already ov
Elysia's POVI could barely sleep throughout the night. I sat on the bed watching my aunt. Her breath was slow and steady, she was still asleep anyways. Her arms curled around the blanket. My mind had been churning all night—turning to Sarah’s words, Alicia’s possible involvement, and my own determination into a plan.Lila was somewhere in the Emerald Pack . I had a feeling the little girl was Lila. I could feel it in my bones, that instinct humming in my blood like a wire pulled tight. I couldn't wait for the Moon Goodness to bring Lila home. I couldn't wait any longer hoping I would get more information. I had to go.I eased out of bed and dressed quickly, choosing simple clothes—lightweight black pants, boots and a deep green jacket that hugged my frame. I braided my hair tightly, then tied it off with a ribbon to hold it.I looked at myself in the full length mirror, I was determined to find Lila even though I didn't have any plan at that moment. But Lila needed me.I stepped out
Elysia's POVI sat on the edge of the bed in the room Adrian had escorted me back to the guest room and had gone back to his chamber. When I got to the guest room, Aunt Liora had finally fallen asleep after another round of sobbing, she had been worn down by grief and exhaustion. I sat on the bed slowly, trying not to wake her up, wrapping a blanket around my body. Where was Lila? The thoughts of everything that had happened lately flashed through my mind again. My legs curled up and my arms wrapped around it, maybe if I had trained even more harder I would have been able to save her.But instead, here I am sitting here while she is out there and the moon knows where. I stared at the window in the corner of the room, its curtains slightly parted. My chest tightened, she was still a child and asides that she was carrying a child. She is a strong, sweet girl. But how long could strength carry a child when surrounded by monsters?I rubbed my palms down my thighs, trying to stop mys
Adrain’s POVI stood in front of the guest room, I hesitated for a moment before knocking. All I could think of was how to tell Elysia that I couldn’t find Lila. The door opened before I could knock twice. She was already awake and dressed. She smelled like fresh jasmine, her scent filling the air.But she was still looking like she hadn’t slept for days. Her hair was tied back loosely, and her eyes immediately searched mine like she was waiting for me to say something.“Why do you have bruises all over you? Did you go looking for her? Did you find her?” She asked, talking like she had hot food in her mouth.I didn’t know how I was going to give her a response. I exhaled, “No, Rogues attacked us and Kyle got injured. He was taken to the infirmary.”Her eyes widened, lips parting slightly in shock. “Wait, what? Is he okay?”“He will be,” I said quickly. “I came to tell you and to check up on you. How is your Aunt doing?”Behind her, I heard a sound, quiet sniffles. Liora stood behind E
