Theo's POV
I awoke to her touching my face as she studied me. She hadn't noticed I was watching, even revelling in her touch until she almost screamed blue murder.
I can only presume her wolf woke up too.
With her eyes glazed over, I took a sure, steady breath in just to smell her.
It's been six days of me sitting here in this room even though I have work to do, and I still haven't got my fix off of her.
I should be out there asking other packs if they are missing a pack member, be trying to get her home where she belongs and back to the mate I've seen in her memories, but I've done none of that.
And that's not because Rex has stopped me, either. I just. I don't know. I guess I've been overtly selfish.
Maybe I'm banking on her demanding to go home, for me to drive her to every pack that borders my own.
Maybe that would be in her best interest, but I know it isn't mine.
I'm not young. In fact, I'm way past my sell-by date to find my mate and as an alpha, not having an heir to pass my legacy down to means at any point, one of my pack members could deem themself worthy and try to challenge me for my title.
I need my Luna and the child that would come from our mating.
After teasing her slightly, I leave the girl to get her water and food. The good doctor already gave me a suggestion of foods she could have when her body decided to wake.
I reach the kitchen with a plan.
Taking the eggs out of the fridge, I crack three into a bowl whisking a little milk into them before pinching some salt and pepper for taste.
I heat the frying pan and go about making her some scrambled eggs whilst I place one piece of bread in the toaster.
'Alpha, you cooking us breakfast?' Lucas teases through mind-link.
'The Luna has awoken?' I remark as the toaster pops up, announcing the bread is done. I butter it placing it in the middle of the plate I source from the cupboard before pouring the eggs on top.
'Haven't even mated yet, and you've gone soft...' he teases.
'Maybe I should refuse your requests to go home and hump when Lisa feels like it. I bet that will have you running around with your tail between your legs,' I joke.
'You wouldn't, would you?' He asks.
I laugh aloud, placing the cutlery and unopened bottle of water on a tray with the food before replying.
'I'm not that stupid. I don't need your mate flipping out on me.' I tell him, walking back up the stairs to the guest room that holds Lilith.
She's muttering to herself in the closet about the clothes I've chosen.
"White, who wears white?" She asks herself, I think.
Note to self, don't buy any more white clothes.
"Couldn't he have chosen anything black or grey? Jesus, what the fuck is this?" She asks, making me laugh out loud again.
'What's so funny, Alpha?'
'She hates my choice of clothing apparently,' I tell him.
'Want me to ask Calley to take her shopping?' He proposes.
'I think that might be the best idea, now leave me alone and get back to work,' I tell him, knowing he's guarding the pack house with a few of the others.
I'm still not sure who this girl is. I know her name only by her memories. No one has sent out a search party, and we've heard nothing from surrounding packs claiming a lost pack member.
She could be of importance, or she could just have landed here on my land because of fate.
Maybe Celeste gave her a helping hand in finding me.
One could wish, right?
Celeste has made you wait for a reason. She is destined for great things. Rex tells me.
How do you know that?
I may have tried to speak to her wolf. He retorts proudly.
But we aren't mated yet. How did you do that? I asked, knocking on the bedroom door.
You healed her. It opened up a gateway for me to contact Abyss.
Abyss?
That's her wolf's name.
Lilith drops something as she walks through the bedroom to open the door. Her face is flushed as she pulls the door open to find me standing just on the other side. She's wearing a pair of skin-tight blue jeans and a frilly white top that sits off her shoulders. She looks good, if I do say so myself. Her gaze follows my own, and she sighs exasperated.
"Water and food. I believe you have already used the bathroom." I smile at her.
"Why did you knock?"
"Because you are my guest," I say, nodding towards the room and asking for permission to enter.
"Oh, right. Well, come in then," she says, opening the door wide for me and stepping back, so I have the clearance to enter the room without so much as brushing past her. I head for the bed, placing the tray down at the foot.
"Come eat. I have some questions," I demand a little more forcefully than I intended.
"Okay," she says feebly, following instructions. I notice she doesn't shut the door leaving it open ajar.
Strange.
"Eat," I say as she reaches for the tray pulling it up the bed. She first reaches for the water bottle, uncapping it to gulp the whole fucking thing down. The bottle creaks and cracks under the strength of her hand as she tips her head back to drink every last drop closing her eyes as if the water could cause orgasmic endorphins to run through her blood.
I raise my brows at her when she finally tips her face down, so our eyes meet.
"I was thirsty," she shrugs, placing the bottle down to reach for the cutlery, "ask your questions then, Alpha Theo."
"Do you remember anything?" She shrugs, shoving eggs into her mouth. She chews for an age moaning her happiness as her tummy rumbles with hunger.
"I was being chased, I think. By men, that's all I remember before waking in your river," she says, cutting some toast to place into her mouth.
She's lying. They is something else. Rex tells me as I watch her swallow down her toast.
"And?" I prompt.
"And?" She questions, loading her fork again.
"Your keeping something. If you don't tell me all you know, how will I find your rightful pack?"
"What if I don't want you to find my pack?" She stumps me there and intrigues me.
"So you remember something more then, that something making you not want to go home?" she shrugs her shoulders again, eating more food.
"I don't remember, only one name. It's more a feeling, something telling me I escaped from danger I have no business going back to," I sit forward with the help of Rex, who is more intrigued by her words than I am.
"The name Lilith," he says through my body, his voice deeper, rougher than my own.
She stops chewing to stare at me. I'm sure she's seen my eyes change colour before her as I battle control back from Rex. She swallows loudly.
"What was that?" She asks.
"I am Rex. Theo's wolf. I want an answer. The name Lilith?" she frowns, staring down at the plate but doesn't move to take more food; instead, her body stiffens as she talks down to the bed.
"The last thing she remembers is hitting her head and screaming for Khai," Her voice changes, and I know instantly her wolf has taken over, and I only just get back control from Rex as she slumps forward, fainting into my arms.
Theo's POVLilith remains unconscious for a whole day as I call a meeting between myself, my father, my gamma and beta. We are sat around the table in the private dinning room on my floor of the house whilst I have Calley sitting with Lilith under the instruction to call me the moment she twitches."Khai, as in the heir to the Diamond Blood Pack. Khai Diamond" Lucas states looking at me as if I grew three heads over night. His distaste for the situation is plain to see and I can feel his wolf fighting to take control of him in this moment as his anger lances through him at the revelation I have just dished. "Do you know any other Khai around here?" I ask exasperated because I had already thought of this as I realised ho I'm up against. He shrugs his shoulder looking to my father for support."She's your mate, Rex has confirmed that?" My father asks with bated breath. Maybe he's expecting me to deny, to say that I've become desperate in my search for my fated. Maybe he wants me to say
Lilith's POVI'm sorry. Abyss tells me before I feel as if I'm pushed inside of my own body. Everything changes as I feel like I’m having an out-of-body experience, or is it an inner-body experience?.I can still see Theo at the end of the bed but it’s as if I’m looking through someone else’s eyes as he listens to the words come out of my mouth that I didn't grant permission to leave. "The last thing she remembers is hitting her head and screaming for Khai," I say in a weird voice that doesn't belong to me. I feel heavy as I see Theo through hazy vision push forward from the chair he was sitting in. I fall into his arms as my body feels far too exhausted to stay awake.I'm running, running from a man. A familiar man that's chasing me out of a house. A packed house I think."I'll be a kind little wolf. I'll give you a five-minute head start" he snarls at me as I turn to bolt my way through the forest not so far from the building.I'm whipping between the trees narrowly kissing trunks
Theo's POVA week passes where everyone in the pack gets to meet and make Lil feel part of the pack. She’s loved by everyone instantly and I find myself falling down a rabbit hole at her feet looking up willing to follow her anywhere her feet may take her but she has no clue about that because I haven’t told her.I promised myself if she decided to stay I would tell her but I haven’t. I keep moving the goal post because I feel something is wrong, something is missing. It’s a stupid feeling that I can’t quite understand but it’s there and I don’t want to ignore it selfishly because I crave to claim and mate her. Then there are the bad things, the things behind the scenes have been heating up.There have been two rogue attacks on the north-faced side of my borders. The borders that meet with the Blood Moon pack. Both times I’ve been called in the early hours by my warriors as rogues sat on the border of blood moon packs land watching, waiting to attack. Only did they attack when I turn
Lilith POVTheo and his pack have been on high alert for three long days. It's almost a full moon, a night I'm told is for mate pairing. The moon brings out the wolf in us and makes that wolf at its strongest under the full light of the moon allowing mates to find each other easier than if it weren't a full moon.Though apparently, some mates can find each other outside of a full moon.Theo's occupied with protecting the borders so I'm left in the company of his mother and the orphan girl called Calley that lives in the pack house with her twin brother Arlo.I like Calley, she's kind and sweet. Attentive but strict. She's been teaching me how to cook, joking with me about Theo's attention on me but most of all she's been enlightening me about life as a wolf, especially in this pack. She's convinced that I might be Theo's mate and I guess I might like that if it were to happen. To belong to him, someone that's strong and born to be a leader. My body calls for it but I guess I'll fin
Lilith's POVThe pack house and the gardens that are backed by the forest are full of people, hundreds of wolves not only from here but from two other neighbouring packs. The garden has been transformed with tables and chairs dotted throughout, there’s a stage off to the side where Theo had greeted everyone before he disappeared leaving me alone with all these people I don’t know. I’ve had a few weird looks and some smiles but I don’t recognise anyone and it’s making me feel anxious. "Theo invites other packs because not all of us will find our mates otherwise" she explained when I came down the stairs in the tight figure-hugging glittery silver dress. She made me twirl as she approved of mygown. It hits the floor with a side slit up my left leg right to my thigh. It’s tight on my chest revealing ample cleavage and I'm scared that if I move too quickly I might show too much of my body. I've been quiet and reserved hiding on the back wrap-around porch near Andy, apparently, he isn't
Theo's POVI find myself scrubbing blood from my body in the shower for the second time in as many days without many memories of how it got there. The water runs down my body onto the white tile spoiled with red. Rex took full control pushing me into the recess of his mind blocking me out so I couldn't remember his lack of control.I know Doug's dead but I don't know how he did it or what he did with the body.Delivered back to its Alpha. He tells me sleepily.Great so now we're in disagreement with the Amethyst pack, good on Rex. Fuck. We might have needed them to help and Gregor was a friend you fucking idiot. He shouldn't have touched what is mine, I'll kill any bastard that touches her. Now cool your beans and go see if she's awake yet. Rex pushes me away so I can no longer hear him. Good ducking riddance. He's right about one thing though and that is I need to check in on Lil.I also need to tighten my borders because obviously, people are after her. Then there's this intense nee
Lilith's POVI wake with a pounding headache and Theo sleeping at my feet again.I groan as I move my limbs pushing oxygen around them as pins and needles hurt my whole body. "Good, you are up" Lucas mumbles towards me from the door. "I am.""Get out of bed, we need to talk," he tells me.I extricate myself from the bed as quickly and efficiently as I can without waking Theo and I dress in black leggings and a tank top before finding Lucas standing outside the room in the hallway waiting for me.He grabs my arm dragging me along with him down the stairs, through the kitchen and out the house. He drops my arm once we're on the grass but he snarls for me to follow him. So I do."Where are you taking me?.""For a walk" he throws back over his shoulder.Walk we do, all through the forest. Alongside the river and up a few hills. He brings me to a waterfall, something I may have found if I had chosen to walk in the opposite direction than I did that day I woke in the river that day. "Yo
Theo’s POVWeeks go by as Lil integrates within my pack.Only a few select people know she’s my mate and our future luna of the pack but everyone has accepted her as if she were born here. She makes friends everywhere she goes and there’s something about her, something that glows when she’s around my people. I decide to keep the fact that one day she will be our luna a secret until she decides for herself but something deep down inside me knows she will be part of us, another part knows he will come for her and that she won’t choose. Don’t ask me how I know, it’s just a feeling that sits deep down inside of me. The borders are monitored by my warriors twenty-four-seven and we’ve had many breach attempts. No doubt every one of them is coming for her, for Lilith. I’ve warned her not to go into the woods, to stay near the house and even though she wants to explore our land she’s agreed, still shaken up from being taken from the mating ball. I’ve been refusing contact with Gregor becau
