LOGINKalani POV “I need to tell you guys something,” I say, turning to Virgo and Vegas. Virgo’s attention shifts to me immediately while Vegas leans back slightly, watching me. “What’s going on, mama?” Virgo asks. “Hannah has been looking into your curse,” I say. “She thinks it’s been manipulated over the years. She also thinks your Seer is involved.” Vegas growls low. “I fucking told you,” he says to Virgo. “Told him what?” I ask, looking between them. “That something was off with her. The last time I went to see her, right before you left, she lied to me and I caught her in it,” he says. “She lied about how to break the curse and how it reacts to you, but I don’t even know if the curse is real.” “Well, the curse is real, but I think the way you react to being around me is being manipulated. I don’t know how she was able to do that,” I say. Vegas’s expression darkens, and Virgo’s brows pull together as he listens. “So we should just kill her,” Alex says. My head snaps toward him.
Kalani POVWhen we get back downstairs, Alex is sitting at the island in the kitchen with a drink in his hand. He turns, and his eyes immediately rake over my body, checking me over like he expects to find something wrong. I roll my eyes. “I’m fine, Alex. They wouldn’t hurt me,” I say.“They both already did.” The words come out flat, but I catch the flicker in his eyes. He’s not talking about bruises. I sigh. “That’s not fair. Virgo wasn’t in control,” I say. His jaw tightens, but I don’t give him time to start another argument.“Can you come talk with us, please?” I ask. He studies my face for a moment before standing. For a second, I think he’s going to refuse just because Vegas is standing behind me. Instead, he grabs his glass and the bottle.“We can talk in my office,” he says, placing the bottle and glass in the same hand so he can take mine. Vegas growls low, and I glare at him. Virgo smirks at the two of them.“You two are annoying,” I say.“I didn’t even do anything,” Alex s
Kalani POVTati and I talk a little bit more before we hear a commotion downstairs. We both go quiet at the same time, and I already know exactly what I’m about to walk into.“I bet you $20 dollars it’s my two mates,” I say, rolling my eyes as we stand and make our way downstairs.Sure enough, it’s my two mates. Virgo and Jaxon are holding Vegas back, and Enzo and Denver, Alex’s Gamma, are holding him back. Both of them look like they’re one wrong word away from breaking free and finishing whatever they started.I pinch the bridge of my nose.“Alex,” I say.“I didn’t start shit, he hit me first,” he snarls.Of course he did. I turn my attention to Vegas, who looks just as pissed off as Alex does.“What is your problem?” I ask him.“My problem? You leave us and go to stay with your ex, and now all of a sudden he’s your mate?” His eyes flick toward Alex before coming back to me. “Did you sleep with him?”Alex snarls.“What did I tell you about how you talk to my mate?” Alex roars.Vegas
Kalani POVAfter we eat lunch, I look at Alex. He’s been quieter since Virgo’s text, but I can tell by the way his jaw keeps tightening that quiet does not mean accepting.“We need to talk about Virgo and Vegas,” I say.Tati stands immediately. “That is our cue to leave,” she says, tapping Jaxon and Enzo’s arms. Jaxon doesn’t argue, and Enzo gives Alex one last look before following them out. Within seconds, it’s just the two of us.“You can’t fight him every time he says something you don’t like, Alex,” I say.“You were mine first. I shouldn’t have to share you,” he says, growling low in his chest. There it is. The part I knew was coming the second we found out what we were to each other.I pinch the bridge of my nose and sigh softly. “I know I was, but now I’m also theirs. So you don’t have to like him ever for all I care, but you have to be able to coexist with him because this is our situation,” I say.“I don’t like it,” he says.“You have already voiced that,” I say.“I’m not goi
Kalani POV We stand there in each other’s arms for a moment, letting the words and the reality of our situation settle over us. Alex’s arms stay wrapped around me like he’s afraid if he lets go, something about this will change. Honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my own head around it. I can’t believe I have three fucking mates. “And I have you now, Astra,” I say to her. “Yes, we are finally one,” she says. There’s a contentment in her voice that wasn’t there before, like some missing piece inside both of us finally clicked into place. Alex pulls back and looks at me. His hands stay on my waist, though, his thumbs brushing lightly against my sides. “Can I stay?” he asks softly. “Yes. But I need food, I haven’t eaten since breakfast and a lot has happened, and now that I have Astra it feels like it’s been days,” I say. He chuckles, and the sound sends shivers straight through me. I hate how quickly my body reacts to him now that I know exactly what he is to me. Or maybe it always
Kalani POVMy arms and my legs begin to break and reshape.“Dove, you’re shifting,” Alex says, voice low just as Tati, Jaxon, Enzo, Adonis, and Jordan run into the room.“What’s going on?” Adonis asks.“She’s shifting,” Alex says.“Alex, it hurts,” I cry out. Another sharp wave tears through me before I can catch my breath, and my fingers claw at the floor. I knew my first shift would hurt. Everybody said it would. Knowing that and actually feeling my bones snap apart are two completely different things. He drops next to me and brushes my hair out of my face. “I know it does, but you have to give Astra control,” he says gently.“I can’t, it hurts too much,” I cry out just as my spine breaks then reshapes. A scream rips out of me, and for a second I can't hear anything over the blood pounding in my ears.Alex moves in front of me and takes off his shirt and holds me in his arms as my limbs continue to break and reshape. I bury my face against his bare chest, gripping him so tightly my
Virgo POV I think Vegas is wrong about her, she calmed Havoc. He hasn’t been calm or settled since the day I got him. Not even Thea was able to calm him. She’s different, even the way she looks at us and challenges Vegas is different. Thea was soft and quiet, she’s a warrior and she doesn’t back d
Vegas POV What I wasn’t expecting was the mate bond to be stronger with her than it was Thea. It took every ounce of strength I had to not rush her the moment I smelled her amazing Lavender scent and whatever else sits underneath it that I can’t place yet. Clean. Warm. Familiar in a way that mak
Kalani POV I stop at the top of the stairs preparing myself for waits for me at the bottom. My heart pounds faster in my chest with each step as their scents only grow stronger the closer I get the bottom of the steps. Nobody ever talks about this part. Everybody talks about finding your mate like
Kalani POV “Again” I call out again across the field as I run drills. I’ve been running training since I was 15. Even though my brother is the heir of the pack I’m my father’s prodigy. I may not have shifted but I’m still the best warrior my pack has ever seen. People stopped waiting for me to shi
