“Kenia, Kenia.” Ellen called out to Kenia downstairs.

“I’m coming mum.” She answered from her room— upstairs.

“We are going to be late on her first day in college.” Ellen sighed softly, massaging her temples.

“It’s a normal thing Ellen. You did that too when you were about to go to college.” Grandma said, reminding her of when she was younger.

“That was a long time ago mother, at least we met up with the clearance and lectures.” Ellen murmured and sat down on the couch.

“She’s just like you, Ellen.” Grandma snorted and Ellen rolled her eyes dramatically.

“She’s way worse.” She scoffed.

They heard quick footsteps on the staircase, Kenia was running down with her two heavy suitcases. “I’m ready.”

“Goodness me!!!.” Ellen exclaimed in shock, “what’s with the two suitcases.?”

“It’s been a week and Sera isn’t back home yet.” Sera’s mother half yelled, pacing around the sitting room. “I tried giving her a call but it’s unavailable, like she cut us off.” Her husband said, panic and anger laced in his voice. “She can’t do that, the wedding is in a week’s time, we need to get to her.” Sera’s mum said, pulling out her phone. She dialed Sera’s number but it only kept ringing and she didn’t answer, “why not give Kael a call, maybe he will pick up, you know he won’t pick mine.” Sera’s dad also dialed Kael’s number but it was unavailable. “What’s all these?.” He asked in a fit of rage, both sera and Kael were not reachable. What are they planning this time around?. “I don’t get what’s going on. For a week, that unfilial daughter of yours refused to acknowledge us her parents and give us the respect we deserve.” Sera’s mum ranted . “Now she’s my unfilial daughter!!, what about you? Did you adopt her from the moon? Isn’t she your daughter too?.” He grow

KAEL. “You’re distracted.” The guardian spoke up from behind, his deep voice startling me. My body was present but my mind was absent, I was worried about Sera. we were standing alone in another chamber of the cave. The room was dimly lit with candles and fire torches, different mystical creatures and shapes were drawn on the walls, each representing a story. “What’s this place?.”“The room of the old.” He said, lighting up more candles. “Room of the old?.” I repeated, my brows creased in confusion. “What does it mean?.” “In the ancient times, where love ruled, there was peace and harmony. Werewolves and Voltraks alike, we all lived in unity. Fighting battles and helping each other in times of needs. Until one fateful day — he paused, I saw a flicker of pain flash through his eyes. “Then what happened?.” “We started having some boundary issues with the Voltraks, who were trying to expand their territory to our base, we refused, trying to settle it amicably, One of the

SERA. “Ready?.” Kael asked, standing up from the bed, I nodded, letting him pull me up to my feet. “Let’s go.” He said, taking my hand into his, I gave him a soft smile. He has been so supportive and helpful to me, and I’m so grateful. I vowed within me that if we manage to subdue all the dangerous creatures, bringing peace and harmony to the world, I will consent to his proposal for real. After his entanglement with Thalia, I wanted to hate him, but I couldn’t, his name is already etched in my soul, his blood running through my veins, we are one and fated—nothing can come between us. Kael gave my hand a light squeeze as we walked into the inner chamber of the Hollow veil. The chambers pulsed with old magic, carved by time and blood. Deep within, I was made to stand barefoot on smooth, cold stone, my breath steady as the elder’s voice echoed through the cavern. “Sera.” She called to me, I averted my gaze from the cold stone to her face. I didn’t know what to call her.

“Mum, can you call Kael for me.” Kenia said as she walked into the sitting room, where her mum and grandma were discussing. “What’s wrong?” Ellen asked, with raised brows and narrowed eyes. “I tried putting a call across to him, but his line is not reachable, five missed call mum.” Kenia complained with a snort. “Maybe he’s busy. You can’t go on disturbing your brother every time, he has a fiancée now, so give him some space.” Ellen scolded, and Kenia rolled her eyes. “Space my foot.” Kenia scoffed. “Kenia, what’s your problem?. Aren’t you supposed to be preparing for your college resumption?.” Ellen asked, her voice rising harshly, making Kenia flinch. “Ellen.” Grandma called out, Ellen averted her gaze from Kenia to her mother. “Yes mother.”“Why don’t you help Kenia with the preparations instead. You are her mother.” Grandma cautioned, Kenia chuckled, earning a hard glare from Ellen. “I will mother.” Ellen said, giving Kenia— “you are a dead meat” look. Kenia gigg

“Boss, what’s your plan?.” Ryan asked softly. “Nothing.” Elias replied, taking a slow drag of his cigarette, his expression blank. Ryan was puzzled and confused, his boss was never someone who takes matters like this lightly and has no backup plans on it. “But Boss—.”“Ryan.” Elias growled, his gaze sharp as glass, “Are you questioning me.” “Not at all boss.” “Good. How’s Becca?.” He asked, flicking the cigarette on the ash tray. “She’s not cooperating, she refused the food and water served to her.” Ryan replied, Standing at an ease. “Oh Becca. Feisty.” He muttered under his breath with a cruel smile. He didn’t mean to put her in that basement but she’s so stubborn and might ruin his plans, he won’t kill her neither would he release her. She was the mother of his son after all. “Where’s Joel?.” “The nanny is taking care of him, should I bring him to you?.” Ryan asked, his brows raised, waiting for an answer. “Not now, I have things to do.” Elias said, going through the
