Chapter 25

LYRA

It feels like a thousand different emotions are pushing their way through my mind. Guilt and shame are at the forefront, and I know those emotions are not coming from me. “Good,” I grumble as I stomp my way up the stairs. “I hope he feels awful.” James’s room is the first door to the left of the stairs. I raise my hand to knock on the door, but I hesitate. What if he does not want to see me?

“I can practically feel you thinking on the other side of the door,” James yells from inside his room. “You can come in.”

Slowly twisting the doorknob, I peek my head inside his room, and I see that the room is torn apart. Suitcases and duffle bags are thrown on the bed with clothes just shoved inside them.

James is standing beside his dresser, shirtless. I cannot help but drag my eyes over his torso as he throws clothes onto the bed. He is slimmer than Andrew, but just as muscular. His hair is a bit longer on
