Delilah's POV General Kane disappears through the portal and we watch silently. The oracle still has her eyes on the mirror, as if expecting something. I'm scared to even discover what it is. The portal is supposed to take Kane straight to Avalon. It's a simple thing, right? Except if there are complications she did not tell us about. I look at her with suspicion. "Ahh!" General Kane's voice comes through the mirror. I turn sharply to it. My eyes widen in alarm as he is flung out of the mirror as if pushed by a repulsive force. His back collides with the wall opposite the mirror and he falls to the ground with a groan. "Kane!" I shout and rush to hold him. "Are you okay?" I ask, examining his body for any signs of injury. Instead, his teeth are chattering like someone coming out of a freezer. He sits up and rests his back on the wall, rubbing his hands on his arms. His body is cold as ice. Delilah's POV"Guys!" I shout, referring to Kane and Cecile. Cecile looks between the oracle and me. She rushes to Vivian, asking for help. Vivian finally comes to speak to me. "Delilah, calm down. The force field is automatic against the leader's enemies. You just need to let go of the will to fight her and trust her in everything she will be doing now." My mouth drops open as I study her expression silently. Finally, I give in. "Fine. I won't do anything against her." Putting my hands forward, I try the barrier again but it's still blocking me. Frowning, I let out a low, angry groan and look at Cecile. "I have told you what you need to do," she says and goes back to meet the Leader.Kane comes outside to meet me. He gives me an apologetic look and holds my hands. Cecile watches us from inside. "Why do you want to fight her so badly?" "I don't trust her. What if she does something wrong? Or tries to hurt you?" Delilah's POVVivian pushes open the door with a squeal, and we all peer into the house. The place is shrouded in darkness, and we can barely see anything. "Let's go inside," she says and moves in.We follow her sceptically as she leads us to the oracle. First, we pass through a dark, old-fashioned kitchen, then proceed to a small passage with a staircase in front.She leads us confidently up the stairs to a hallway with rooms connecting it. She moves down to the end of the hallway. At the right is a red door. She opens it with ease, revealing a staircase leading down into a dark area.Cecile and I exchange fearful glances before continuing down the stairs. Vivian moves in and we follow her apprehensively. The place is cold and dark and there's a sound of dripping water coming from it.We come down the stairs, following Vivian's slow pace. Delilah's POVStreaks of sunlight filter into the room through the small gaps in the worn-out curtain. Everywhere is absolutely silent save for the sound of General Kane's breathing as he sleeps with one of his hands draped over my body.If everything goes as planned General Kane will return to Avalon today. Delilah's POV The sight of blood drives us into an immediate state of alarm. "Vivian!" Cecile and I exclaim together and rush upstairs to check on her. We don't find her in her room so we walk around the house shouting her name. I move outside flashing the torch from my phone down the street. "Do you think it's safe to do that?" Kane asks. I immediately turn off the light anxiously."Where could she be?" I mutter underneath my breath. A scream sounds from the house. Kane and I share apprehensive glances before rushing back to the house, where Cecile is still doing her search. We meet her in the living room. "Did you hear that sound?" I ask and she nods. We all proceed upstairs to where more noises are coming from. On getting to the particular room where everything is originating from, we stop in our tracks and look in confusion.
