Kane's POV

I stand at the balcony of my study and look outwards onto the Blood Moon pack territory. The darkness forms a cloud over the surrounding areas of the pack save for the moonlight brightening up the woods.

Everyone is on alert. The rogues were last seen in the pack just beside us. So we're expecting them to show up this night or by dawn.

For hours now I've been alternating between sitting and standing. It's almost midnight now. I sit for a bit, and soon I'm dozing off. The sound of growling in the distance wakes me up.

Immediately, I rush to the edge of the balcony and look over the railings at the developing chaos. Just in front of my lawn a rogue attacks one of the sentinels. It's growling echoes in my hearing.

Some distance away another rogue is fighting with another sentinel. Crashing sounds arise from the houses and the growls get louder as more rogues invade the pack. This is it, the fight we've all been waiting for.

With a firm grip on the railing, I push myself upwa

Ezekiel's POVThe number of rogues in the pack continues to reduce until there's barely a fight happening here. I look down from the balcony of my house at a rogue caught up in a scuffle with two Omegas. More rogues are trooping into the pack but in very few numbers. I head back to the surveillance room. The way the fight ended in the Blood Moon pack doesn't look like victory but disengagement.Studying the signs on the monitors, I notice a large movement of rogues into the Yuletide pack and Silver Crest, which is their closest neighbour. Now it all becomes clear to me, we haven't won the rogues, they just don't want to fight us here anymore. I turn to leave the room when I come across Nora in the doorway. "Off to somewhere?" She folds her arms and asks, as if reading my mind. "I need to join Kane." "Then I'm coming with you." Her tone has some finality in it, but I refuse her. "You can't join me there. Someone needs to be here, to cover for my absence and the general's." "I ne

Kane's POV I have just defeated one rogue, throwing him off my body. Standing, my breath comes out heavily and I look over the destruction before me. The pack is in shambles, houses are broken, and the smoke from the burning wood stings my nose. Our plan A has failed. Some of the pack members are still fighting off rogues. Their growls and the sound of wood breaking fill the air. My eyes dart among the fighting wolves and destroyed houses. Everything has been torn by the chaos. Yet, the rogues don't relent in their attack. I quickly scan through the commotion for any sign of Ezekiel. In the distance, I spot Nora struggling with two rogues. I rush towards them and push the rogues away. Without giving any chance to recover, I slit one's throat with my sharp claws. Nora fights off the second one. Another rogue approaches her and I join her in doing away with it. We walk out from between the houses into the open space where more fighting is ongoing. The air reeks of smoke and fresh b

Delilah's POV My feet move rapidly as I try to keep up with Cecile. She speeds among the tall trees, rushing back to the house. There's a gap between us due to how fast she is. The air in my lungs begins to lessen, but there's no time to stop and catch my breath. I continue to push one leg before the other as we race down. I can't imagine a situation where I get marauded by a rogue in these woods. No, I can't end up like that. So I keep running as fast as I can. "omph!" I trip over a hole in the ground and fall flat on my face. The impact causes my head to ache. I push myself up and try to stand up again but my ankle hurts. Sitting up, I hold it and find it's twisted. A sharp pain shoots through my leg when I try to move it. "oww..." I cry with a grimace. Cecile must have gone far by now. I don't think she noticed when I fell. "Cecile!" I call out to her. "Cecile!" The sound of someone approaching causes me to keep quiet. It's a bit distant but fast. It must

Delilah's POV. I feel ashamed for expecting some show of affection from the general. It's like I haven't learned my lesson from what happened last time. Remembering how I begged him to accept me in the punishment room still makes me cringe. It's afternoon already and Cecile is taking me down to the stream to have a swim. The afternoon sun is scorching. "Put this on," She says, passing me a hat. I collect it from her and place it on my head. We walk out of the Alpha quarters and into the woods. I've just woken up from sleep a few minutes ago after a light meal. For now, I've decided to take my mind off the war happening in the Blood Moon pack. I'm a bit scared of what might happen to the general. He can very well take care of himself but I can't help worrying about him. I don't know what it will be from here. Do I take the chance to escape? Or just wait for him and see if my hopes about building my bond with him aren't crushed. Hoping too hard will only get me hurt, so I keep my

Delilah's POVThe rogues close in on us, baring their teeth as their low growls echo through the air. "Hold on tight," General Kane says to me. I adjust myself on his back and grab on tightly to his fur. He pounces on two wolves at once and sends one flying with a punch. He faces the second and kicks him. His moves are rough and my mind skips when I'm almost slipping from his back. I grab on tightly like my life depends on it. Because it does. The other eight wolves round us up, and I know almost immediately that I can't stay on the General's back any longer. I quickly take my chance and jump down from his body."What are you doing?" He asks, a bit agitated. "Helping," I reply. Before he can say his next words the rogues come at us. I shoot at the one approaching me directly. The gunshot rings in the air, and the rogue drops to the ground. Blood stains its brown fur, and it shakes its legs in pain.I shoot and the general tears them apart. He gets entangled with a rogue and I sho
