Chapter 11

My boss took me to a magnificent mansion. His father's friend is celebrating his birthday party in here. I'm wearing a short, black, sleeveless dress. This dress is so pretty, I love it so much.

Carson has told me that my boss's father died 3 years ago in a plane crash. When I asked about my boss's mother, he said nothing and just tried to smile at me. I could see in his sad eyes that he was hiding something from me.

Everyone in this room is staring in amazement at my boss, who is walking next to me in his black suit. All the girls couldn't take their eyes off him, stunned by his handsome face. Their eyes shone with passion as they examined him from head to toe. My boss ignored them all and kept going.

I felt I didn't deserve to be with my boss. I then looked down, covering my face. It startled me when my boss's warm hand held my cold hand. My heart was pounding as he smiled gently into my eyes.

I quickly avoided his eyes and looked forward. My cheeks are burning; I breathe nervously.

All eyes are now on me. They all stared at me curiously. I saw the anger and jealousy in the girls' eyes, as if they wanted to crush me to dust.

An old man with gray hair waved his hand with a smile when he saw my boss. His name is Martin Sherman. My boss smiled back at him as we walked over and stood in front of him.

“Happy birthday, Uncle. I wish you happiness and health,” my boss said as he gave him a hug.

"Thank you, thank you, Vincent," Mr. Martin said, patting my boss gently on the back. Then they let go of their embrace and looked into each other's eyes with warm smiles.

Mr. Martin turned his gaze to me and asked my boss curiously, “This beautiful young lady, who is she?”

“Uncle, let me introduce her to you. She is Angela Lee. She is my girlfriend,” my boss replied.

Mr. Martin laughed. He looked surprised as well as happy. He then looked me in the eye. “You are a lucky girl. So many beautiful women who want to be his girlfriend, but only you can win his heart,” he said, smiling kindly.

I didn't know what to say, so I just tried to smile back at him.

He then moved his eyes to my boss's eyes. “When are you two planning to get married?” he asked him.

“When she falls in love with me, then I'll marry her,” my boss replied.

Mr. Martin furrowed his brows in thought. “I don't understand what you mean,” he said, curious.

“She doesn't love me. I forced her to be mine."

Mr. Martin's laughter broke after hearing what my boss said. “You must be kidding, right?” he said, laughing again.

My boss said nothing, just smiled at him. I didn't know whether to smile or cry, so I did both.

I can't believe my boss would say that.

Mr. Martin cleared his throat and said to my boss, “Come with me. James wants to see you. He said he wanted to sell his land to you.” My boss then nodded at him.

Mr. Martin then walked. I immediately said to my boss before he took a step to follow him, “Sir, I want to go to the bathroom.” I lied to him. Right now, I really need a space to breathe to calm my nervousness.

“Come back here soon,” he said, his dominating eyes fixed on mine. I nodded obediently and walked away from him.
