After Lian came out of the bathroom, she stood in front of the mirror for a few moments.

She wasn't just looking at her reflection.

She was trying to find the girl who used to laugh without fear and paint without wondering whether anyone would like her work.

She got dressed quietly, then sat beside the window.

Her room was beautiful.

Everything was carefully arranged.

The expensive furniture.

The long curtains.

The paintings hanging on the walls.

Yet somehow, none of that beauty could make the room feel warm.

There was a cold that didn't come from outside.

A cold that lived inside her.

She didn't know how to explain it.

She wasn't angry.

And she wasn't simply sad.

It was something deeper.

As if a part of her had remained somewhere far away, waiting for someone to notice her.

She picked up a book beside her and tried to read, but the words wouldn't sink in.

She closed the book and looked toward her studio.

That was the only place where she still felt like herself.

She walked in slowly.

Paintings were scattered around the room.

Faces without names.

Places without people.

And countless colors hiding things she had never been able to say.

She stopped in front of an old painting.

A rose had been painted in the middle of a wide, empty space.

Its petals were bent, as if they had grown tired of resisting something stronger than themselves.

Lian smiled sadly.

She felt as though it looked like her.

A rose that hadn't died...

but had grown tired of the cold.

And despite the snow covering it, something small inside it still refused to give up.

Something waiting for spring.

At that moment, her phone lit up.

A new message.

It was Adam.

Seeing his name didn't frighten her the way it had before.

Instead, she felt something strange.

As if someone far away had opened a window in a locked room.

He wrote:

“Today, I spent hours among the books. I didn't find all the answers, but I'm starting to understand that a person doesn't always need a clear path... Sometimes, all they need is to choose one step.”

She read the message quietly.

Then another question appeared:

“And you? Is there something you're trying to protect inside yourself? Something no one knows about?”

She stared at the question for a long time.

Then she looked at her paintings.

For the first time, she felt that she could tell the truth.

She typed:

“There are things I can't explain with words.”

She paused.

Then sent him a picture of one of her paintings.

It wasn't a beautiful picture.

And it wasn't finished.

But it was honest.

A few moments later, his reply came.

“Now I understand.”

“You don't just paint pictures... You leave traces of the things you can't say.”

Lian felt something stir inside her.

He didn't tell her that she was strong.

He didn't tell her that everything would be easy.

But he made her feel that someone had finally seen the rose beneath the snow.

He wrote:

“Don't bury the thing that makes you who you are. Maybe it's the very thing that will lead you out of all this.”

She put her phone aside.

Then returned to the painting.

She picked up her brush.

This time, she didn't try to paint only the pain.

She added a new color.

A color that reminded her of sunlight at the beginning of spring.

The rose hadn't bloomed yet.

But it was no longer alone beneath the snow.

A few days later, Lian sent him a new painting.

She didn't write a long explanation.

Just a picture.

The painting was different from everything she had sent him before.

It didn't have the heavy darkness he had become used to seeing.

There was a girl standing before a long road, holding a paintbrush instead of a weapon, with a world behind her that had yet to be completely painted.

Adam stared at the picture for a long time.

He didn't see just a painting.

He saw a possibility.

He saw a girl who had been trapped inside a frame others had created for her, finally picking up the brush to redraw herself.

He wrote:

“This isn't the painting of someone looking for a way to escape.”

“This is the painting of someone preparing to build a place of her own.”

Lian took a while to reply.

Then she wrote:

“You see things I can't see in myself.”

Adam smiled.

Because he felt that the same thing had happened to him.

How many times had he needed someone to tell him that the path he had chosen wasn't crazy?

How many times had he looked at himself and thought he had lost everything, when in reality, he was simply starting over?

He sat in front of his small laptop and looked around the room.

The room that looked nothing like the mansion.

The old desk.

The piles of books.

The papers filled with his first attempts.

Only a few months ago, money had been something ordinary to him.

A number in an account.

A check signed by someone else.

Something he could use to pay for a meal or casually tip a waiter with a smile without giving it a second thought.

He had thought money was simply a way to live comfortably.

But now...

the first amount he had earned through his own work felt different.

It wasn't much.

It wasn't enough to change anyone's life.

But it carried a meaning that none of the money he had owned before ever had.

Because it came from something he had created himself.

From hours of reading.

From failed attempts.

From words he had translated dozens of times.

From moments of doubt no one had ever seen.

He picked up the paper where he had written down his first earnings.

He smiled.

He wasn't rich.

He hadn't reached the place he once dreamed of.

But he had done something more important.

He had found his own voice.

A voice that didn't come from his family name.

Or the place where he had been born.

But from something he had built with his own hands.

He returned to Lian's message.

He wrote:

“Don't underestimate what you're doing.”

“Maybe today, it's just a painting seen by one person. But everything great began when just one person saw its value.”

“I didn't find my path because I knew where I was going... I found it because I stopped waiting for someone else to draw it for me.”

He looked at her name on the screen.

He didn't know that the girl he was encouraging now would one day stand before the world under her own name.

Just as she didn't know that the man giving her hope now...

was the same man whose presence would change her life forever.
