CHAPTER TWO

Meanwhile

Cassandra Aurora Roberts rolls out of her bed, even though she knows she is late for work.

But she is known as someone who does not come to work early if she does not have work to do. When you are good at your job, people tend to not question whatever you do.

Cassandra, but called Cassy by her colleagues and close friends, is a Detective, and she has solved a brain damaging case, which has earned her Best Detective of the month.

But because of her past records, she has been able to get the respect of both her colleagues, superiors and juniors.

Whenever one is facing a dead end in an investigation, they are told to involve Cassy in the case, ‘cause that is when they can be able to solve the case.

Cassy lost her mum when she was only seven years.

She and her dad have a strained relationship, only calling each ones in a while

She is a fighter, the bravest person you can ever meet, but also the rudest person to ever meet.

She is the type that can correct at her superior in the rudest way, and can even cuss them out. No one wants to get her bad side.

But she is the type of friend everyone wishes for, she fights for her friends and also what she thinks it is right.

Which makes people nickname her as glue, and that has helped her in solving cases, ‘cause if she handles a case, she won’t rest until she gets to the bottom of the case.

She rolls out of the grudgingly after stopping her alarm to prepare for the day.

She starts humming her favourite song, the one her mum always sang for her to sleep while showering, which brings back the few memories she still remembers about her mother back.

By the time she finishes dressing up, she is more than an hour late, but she moves about her house picking her things without any care of the world.

“Now let’s move” she says, caressing her black coloured power bike.

You can say that is like the most expensive thing she owns, but she is s much in love with it. If there is anyone who scratches it, sure enough the person will see her wrath.

Driving past though the traffic using her police siren, she gets to work in fifteen minutes.

“Hey Cass” one of her colleagues greets her

“Good morning Drew” she greets back enthusiastically, bobbing her head to the music coming from her earphones.

Another person greets her, asking her if she is going to be free to which she said no to.

“How does she do that?” the partner to the person asks.

‘Cause they know she is always listening to songs and with a high volume most of the time, so they always wonder how she knows what they are saying.

“I heard she is good at reading lips, no matter how you try to be discreet she will just know what you said or are saying” the person says.

This has been one of her strength and she knows it.

Entering the doors of the stations, she greets almost everyone she meets on the way whilst bobbing her head to the music she is listening to.

“What are you saying?” she asks Albert, waving her hands,

Albert is one of her close colleague.

He is saying something to her, but she does not hear nor does she has the intention of removing the earphone

“I’m saying that the chief wants to see you now” he yells frustratingly at her, forcefully removing her earphones.

“You should have just said it gently, no need in using force” she hisses.

“And you would have heard with how much you were bobbing your head to that music of yours, not that you have a great taste at music at that” he scoffs, handing her the files he was told to give her.

“Just like how your name is not of a great taste too, and don’t fucking insult my taste in music, it is better than your taste in anything” she tells her, rolling her eyes at him.

“You’ve started with your banter again, early in the morning” Sandra interrupts them.

Sandra is like the third person in the office that she is close to.

It is known that both of them always banter whenever they see each other.

They always behave like siblings, even though they are not.

“He started it first”

“She started it first”

They both say at the same time.

“Of course you will blame each other” she scoffs at their antics.

“Knowing that you will start your banter when you see each other, the Chief told me to tell you” she says pointing at Cassandra

“To come to his office” she completes pointing to the direction to the office with her thumb.

“It is not my fault she was bobbing her head to a music that is very bad and was ignoring me at that” he complains like a kid.

“Just go” Sandra tells her, pushing her towards the direction of the Chief’s office

“Okay, no need to push me” Cass says, stomping her feet.

“And I’m coming back for you” she says, turning back to point her fingers at Albert.

“You won’t be able to do anything to me” he says, sticking out his tongue at her retreating back.

“Now stop behaving like a kid” Sandra scolds him, patting him.

“Were you able to round up the investigation about the drug dealers at that new alley” she asks him, as they continue to her table.

“Of course, you should know me” he says proudly, beating his chest.

“Of course, so what’s the update?” Sandra asks him.

“Seems like a new organization wants to claim the area, ‘cause they gaining more grounds, and the drug they are selling seems to be quite dangerous, and if it gets round more than this, I don’t want to imagine how it feels” he tells her, shuddering at the idea of what chaos the drug might cause.

“Try and investigate more on the organization so we should know what we should do, we don’t want it to get worse than this” she tells him, sitting at her desk, casuing him to seat on her table.

“Do you have any idea on what the Chief wants to tell Cass” he asks, looking curious

“I’m not really sure, but it seems like it is about some dealers or so” she says, packing some files on her table to give to him

Meanwhile

Knock, knock

“Come in” Chief Robinson says

“Good morning sir, sir you sent for me” she says, sitting on the hair without permission which earns a look from the Chief.

“Yes I did, I’m sorry to cut your break short, but you have another mission to go to, and it is very important” he tells her flatly.
