CHAPTER THREE

“Another mission” she exclaims perplexed he would cut the break he gave her short, just like that.

“Yes” he replies flatly.

She keeps wondering why this must happen to her, especially when she is finally able to get a little bit of break from work, it is not even up to twenty four hours before she is called back to work.

“Why must this happen to me every time?” she mutters under her breathe.

“What did you say?” he asks her, since he did not hear her clearly.

“Not you sir” she tells him

“And before you ask, it is not a solo work, and it is also an undercover work” he tells her.

Knowing that she is going for an undercover job, she is excited for it, but she knows if it is an undercover work, then it means the case must be very serious and no mistake must be done.

So even though she is elated for going undercover, she still must be careful, but this does not dampen her excited mood.

“Who am I going with sir?”She asks, barely keeping the excitement in her voice.

“You’re going with Sandy and Robins” he tells her.

“And can make sure you keep this low and solve it quickly, the higher ups wants it to be under” he adds.

He eyes her warningly when he sees how almost out of control her excitement is, she looks like a girl that has been handed her favourite candy.

“I have to go with Robins” she whines

“Yes” he says with a finality tone.

Even though she has to go with Robins, this does not in any way dampen her excitement.

Robins is one of her colleagues and like her arch enemy. They’ve never agreed on anything and always try to outsmart each other.

This started on their first day of work, and he wanted to prove how competent he is.

There was this small but difficult task that has always been given to newbies, it has always been the tradition.

There is a slight change in the environment or the clothe someone who is questioning you or his or her partner wears when you have been distracted by another person.

They are asked to point out the changes in their environment, since if you want to become a good detective, you should be able to spot things and look at things critically.

When he saw that Cass seems to be doing better in the task given to them, and people liked her more and more, he has since then become her arch enemy.

He was second to Cass, and since that time, he feels like was cheated there, so he has always hated Cass for being the first instead of him.

“But does it really have to be him?” she asks

He looks at her, which immediately shuts her up.

Waiting for a while, she continues to bug him even more.

The Chief knows he can’t really do anything to her, since she is the best person for the job, and she is best at doing her job, they can only try to intimidate her even though they know it cannot work in any way.

Walking out of the Chief’s office, she is immediately met with the presence of Robins.

“Speak of the devil and he shall appear” she says aloud.

“Sometimes I wonder if we are in a zoo, but I always tell myself it is only one animal we have here” he responds also, looking at her hatefully.

“Hey, you can insult me, but never bring innocent animals to this and again they seem to have more sense than you do” she barks at him, glaring at him.

Everyone in the office stops what they are doing to look at them, but makes no attempt of getting in to settle it, because they know the consequences.

Someone has done it before, and it did not end well for that person.

So everyone leaves them whenever they have they are having their feud, since it does not always result to the use of aggression.

“Sometimes I wonder if we are in high school whenever I see them like this” Sandy whispers to Albert, who is also standing beside her.

“Whenever I see you, my morning turns sour, and now we have to work together” he says

“And you think I am all happy and jumping joyful at that” she sasses him.

When Sandy sees that they seem to be getting out of control, saying things that are meant to be kept secret.

“Okay that is enough both of you” she says, putting out her hands to tell them to stop

“Even though you don’t like each other, which I don’t know the why, but you can just ignore each other’s presence” she scolds them like a mother would do to a child.

“Is that clear?” she asks them, which earns a nod from Robins, but nothing from Cass.

She just glares at him, seeing this, Sandra snaps her out of it.

“Robins can you come to by my desk later today, I have something to discuss with you” Sandra asks him, in which her answers her gently.

“Yes” he says, looking softly at Sandra.

It is not a hidden thing in the precinct that Robins has a crush on Sandra, but it seems like it is only Sandra that seems not to know, or maybe she is ignoring it.

Walking out together, Sandra Cass and Albert, walk back to their desk, since it it is around the same place.

“You shouldn’t have minded him” Sandra scolds her.

“I never started it, you know it” Cass tells her, rolling her eyes.

“Yeah, we all know it all started on your first day here” Albert chimes in.

“You see, so it is none f my fault, I need to fight before I am attacked” Cass explains.

“So you had o look for trouble when he was not looking for one” Sandra responds, sitting her desk.

“Forget about that, we all know why he stopped today” Cass says, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.

She sits at her desk which is opposite of Sandra’s.

“Of course we all know, but it seems the person responsible doesn’t know” Albert says, sliding his chair beside Cass’.

“What are you guys talking about?” Sandra asks, looking genuinely confused.

It is most times said that if someone likes you, you are the only person who won’t see it, even though it is obvious

“Why is it that when someone crushes on you, you won’t know unless you’re told” Albert asks Cass.

“Makes me wonder if have someone who is crushing on me, and I am totally unaware about it” she murmurs, putting her index on her lips, pretending to think.

“Me too” Albert says.

“Me three” Sandra chips in, looking like she has been left out

“You have”

“You have”

Both Cass and Albers says at the same time.

“I don’t even want to understand what you guys are talking about anymore, just go about your work” Sandra says, dismissing the both of them.

With this, Cass and Albert know they won’t be able to continue their teasing, with both internally agreeing to continue later, they get on with their work.

Well at least Albert, because Cass continues listening to music.
