Chapter 10: Chapter Ten: Her Memories

### Bedroom

Elizabeth Forster was forcefully pulled into the room by Pete Melville, who then locked the door behind them. Pressed against the cold wall, facing the broad chest of the man in front of her, no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape his hold. Annoyed, she asked, "What are you doing, bringing me here?"

"What is your relationship with Edwiin Kingsley?" The man ground out each word, every syllable clear and distinct.

Her relationship with Edwiin Kingsley?

Was Pete Melville angry about what had just happened? Even if it were true as Edwiin Kingsley and Cherry Forster said, what did it have to do with him? After all, they were only a fake couple, mutually benefiting from each other, devoid of any real feelings!

Pete Melville's attitude left Elizabeth Forster feeling perplexed. Meeting his icy gaze, she didn't dare to resist and could only answer truthfully, "Edwiin Kingsley pursued me, and our families discussed the idea of a marriage alliance. Joannance I didn't have anyone I liked, I agreed."

This explanation, Elizabeth Forster had already given once. She really couldn't understand why, despite their fake relationship, Pete Melville cared so much about her affairs. Even if something had happened between her and Edwiin Kingsley in the past, what did it have to do with him? Of course, these thoughts were only in her mind.

Suddenly, the handsome face in front of her grew larger, leaving Elizabeth Forster with no place to retreat. She closed her eyes tightly, her mind blank. What... what was he going to do? Was he going to kiss her?

"From now on, keep your distance from Edwiin Kingsley." His voice, cold as ice, made Elizabeth Forster snap her eyes open. Pete Melville had already stepped back to a safe distance, looking at her coldly.

After observing Elizabeth Forster, Pete Melville finally took in the sight of her bedroom. This was the first time he had entered her private space. Unlike the girly rooms he was used to, hers was simple and straightforward, which puzzled him. It was quite amusing, really; he had never understood her, whether in the past or now.

Relieved to be free from his icy stare, Elizabeth Forster felt a bit nervous as she watched Pete Melville look around her room. Thankfully, it wasn't too messy. Her eyes followed his gaze to a photo on the table. It was of her when she was younger, and there were almost no other photos after that. The missing years, she wasn't sure if it was because she hadn't taken any or if someone...

She couldn't remember.

Pete Melville, however, was drawn to the photo. It showed a different side of her, and his expression softened slightly. Picking it up and then putting it down, he slowly walked over to Elizabeth Forster.

"Knock... knock..."

"Young Miss, Mr. Melville, lunch is ready. Please come downstairs to eat," the servant's voice was clear even through the door.

Elizabeth Forster let out a deep breath, not daring to look at the cold man in front of her, and fled the room like a scared rabbit. Goodness! What was she thinking? How could she have thought Pete Melville wanted to kiss her?!

With a face as red as an apple, Elizabeth Forster appeared in the dining room, drawing many heated gazes. The culprit, Pete Melville, arrived late, with a calm and composed expression.

"Elizabeth, come, these are some of your favorite dishes. Eat more, you've gotten so thin," Pete Melville said.

"The corn and lotus root soup has been simmering for hours. Ms Hudson says you love it, try some," he added.

During the meal, Rupert Forster's unusual warmth caught Elizabeth Forster off guard. But she noticed that whenever Rupert Forster looked at Pete Melville, his expression was hostile, as if they had some deep-seated grudge.

Rupert Forster doesn't like Pete Melville? No wonder he hadn't spoken much since they entered. But Elizabeth Forster couldn't figure out why; they shouldn't have had any prior interactions. Why was Rupert Forster so hostile towards Pete Melville?

The most displeased person, however, was Lynn Hudson. She slammed her chopsticks on the table and demanded, "Elizabeth, no matter what, you are Zixuan's elder sister. Why did you embarrass her in front of so many people at the wedding?"

Embarrass Cherry Forster? Elizabeth Forster didn't think so. And she believed Cherry Forster didn't either.

After finishing the food in her mouth, Elizabeth Forster replied, "Do you think I shouldn't have shown the photos of them having an affair at the wedding? Ms Hudson, if it weren't for me, your daughter would have been taken advantage of, without even a proper title. I helped her secure the position of Lin's daughter-in-law. Shouldn't you be thanking me?"

Her words left everyone with ugly expressions, except for Pete Melville, who found it amusing. He looked at the woman beside him, surprised that this seemingly fragile woman could speak so sharply.

Lynn Hudson's anger flared, and she stood up, ready to lash out. But Elizabeth Forster quickly grabbed her arm and shook her head. She had already embarrassed herself enough today and didn't want to continue this humiliation.

The meal continued in a tense atmosphere. After filling her stomach, Elizabeth Forster, regardless of whether Rupert Forster had finished eating, said, "Dad, can you come with me? I need to talk to you."

### Study Room

Father and daughter sat facing each other. Rupert Forster, still smiling, sipped his hot tea, "Elizabeth, what do you want to talk to your father about?"

"I want to discuss something. The teaching building at N City University is in a state of disrepair. With the power of the Su family, can we donate a new teaching building to the university?"

Donating a teaching building to N City University... Why did she suddenly bring this up? True, N City University, being a century-old institution, had many old and dilapidated facilities. Many local businesses had already donated to the university. But...

This issue had been ongoing for a long time, and Elizabeth Forster had never cared before. What was happening now? Could it be... her memory had returned? Did she know that N City University was her alma mater, and that's why she was so concerned about its condition?

Just then, Lynn Hudson entered with a fruit platter, clearly having heard everything.

"Elizabeth, why did you suddenly bring this up?" Lynn Hudson asked, her unease not lost on Elizabeth Forster.

Frowning, Elizabeth Forster replied cautiously, "All the companies in the city are donating to N City University. I think our Su family should also contribute. Ms Hudson, why are you so tense?"
