Mistaken

Chapter 7

Alex examined the last painting in the room and pointed out the only three that caught his eyes, he nodded to Arnold and signaled for him to lead the artists out. None of them gave him as much enthusiasm as he expected, but the few ones that thrilled him had to be taken. He sighed tiredly and managed a smile at the expectant faces in the room.

"We will get back to those of you that impressed us, but you can leave the paintings here for further examination." Arnold told them.

Alex did not wait for Arnold to join him, or for the last artist to leave before he left. He walked down the hall briskly, his mind troubled. He had a shitload of paperwork waiting for him there, and he was checking his cell phone every three seconds for any calls or messages.

Arnold caught up with him and handed him a file which he barely spared a glance.

"I'm not taking any more samples, Arnold. They should come back tomorrow."

"Yea, but someone else can check them out if you are too tired.
