The moment I parked the car and saw that Autumn had gotten out without even saying a word, I decided to go to David.

It was even a good thing because she just made things easier. I was really worried about her, especially because I wasn’t used to this silence of hers, but right now, I needed to handle things personally.

“Aren’t you coming in?” Maria had asked me.

“No, I am not,” I had told her firmly. “I will see you soon,” I had added and walked away.

Barely halfway to David’s house, I heard someone jogging towards me. I turned and saw that it was Dominic.

“What is it?” I asked him stiffly.

“Is everything okay?” He asked me.

“Why shouldn’t it be?” I asked him in return.

“I haven’t seen or heard from you since,” Dominic said.

“I have been preoccupied,” I answered.

I didn’t stop walking, and Dominic didn’t need to hurry up to keep up because he had strides of his own.

“I can see that,” he said.
