"You got married?" I asked, not believing what my Dad had just said.

"Privately. I don't need to be in the press's spotlight. She is a good woman, and she has a daughter too."

"A good woman? I want to know about this person seeing you vouch for her without batting an eyelid" I scoffed, my words dripping with sarcasm.

"Her daughter is your age, so you guys might get along. I have sent you a picture". He turned his attention back to the monitor in front of him and continued his work as if he hadn't called me moments ago.
