Kael's POV

I should have stopped her.

When Amara stepped into the circle, the Vault responded like a storm breaking its own sky. Light erupted in arcs around her, pulsing through the floor in jagged, golden veins. Her eyes went white, her breath caught, and for a second—just a second—I thought I’d lost her to whatever ancient force had claimed her name.

Then she screamed.

Not in fear.

In fury.

And the Vault screamed back.

I ran to her, ignoring Alexander’s shouted warning. Victor didn’t move—he just watched with that familiar expression, half awe, half calculation.

Amara dropped to her knees, her body glowing like the air around her couldn’t decide whether to crown her or consume her.

I reached for her.

The circle flared.

I was thrown backward, crashing against the Vault wall hard enough to taste blood. Stone cracked beneath me.

“Kael!” she shouted—her voice layered now, older than it should be.

She turned toward the Sleepers.

They were fully formed now. No longer vague shadows.

They

  • Forbidden: Fated To My Step Son    Chapter 72: Light Demands What Darkness Refuses to Give

Amara’s POV Pain was the first gift. The moment my fingers closed around the shard, fire tore through every vein like it had been waiting centuries to wake inside me. I screamed without sound, my knees hitting stone that was no longer real. The Vault vanished. Kael vanished. Everything vanished except light—endless, merciless, divine.I didn’t know if I was dying or transforming.Maybe both. The shard seared my palm, but I couldn’t let go. I wasn’t sure I even had a body anymore. I was just a soul pulled across a thousand years of memory. I saw the First Alpha, born of moonlight and blood, carving the laws of the packs into the earth with a howl that shook the sky. I saw betrayals—power ripped from spirit, cursed blood buried beneath mountains, families broken into packs to control what could no longer be contained. And then I saw her.A woman who looked like me. Same eyes. Same fire. She stood at the edge of the first war, holding a blade of light. You are the echo. You are the last

  • Forbidden: Fated To My Step Son    Chapter 71: Fire Remembers What Flesh Forgets

Amara's POV It didn’t rise—it unfolded. The shadow from beneath the Vault wasn’t a creature. It was a memory wearing shape, older than bones, older than names. It crawled upward through the fracture in the stone like smoke soaked in bloodlight, stretching taller than any beast I’d ever seen. Its voice didn’t echo in the chamber. It echoed inside me.Blood returns. Blood awakens. Blood remembers.Kael shouted my name, but I couldn’t turn around. My feet had rooted themselves to the edge of the chasm, my eyes locked on the thing that didn’t blink, didn’t breathe, didn’t need to.Because it had seen me before.Because it had marked me.I should’ve felt terror. But I felt recognition. And that scared me more.Alexander appeared beside me, his voice hoarse with disbelief. “It’s not just a First One… it’s the First.”Victor coughed behind us. “You mean the Alpha before all Alphas?”Alexander nodded grimly. “The one they bound in silence. The one we swore never to name again.”“Why?” Kael d

  • Forbidden: Fated To My Step Son    Chapter 70: Some Ghosts Prefer the Spotlight

Kael’s POV I didn’t believe it at first.Smoke still curled through the shattered Vault wall, chunks of rune-covered stone littering the ground. Amara leaned against me, her body still trembling from the trial she had survived, the fire of her inner battle barely cooled. Then she stepped through.Trina.Alive.Smiling.Her boots crunched across the debris as if she had every right to be here. Behind her stood half a dozen wolves, armed and clad in foreign markings—Derrick’s. But it wasn’t them I feared. It was her.Her scent hit me last. Familiar. Wrong.“How?” I managed, stepping between her and Amara instinctively.Trina’s eyes flicked to Amara, then to me. “Oh, Kael. That’s not the question you should be asking.”Victor exhaled hard. “This bitch again?”Alexander was already drawing his blade. “You were exiled.”“And yet here I stand,” she said with a mock curtsy. “Exile was a minor inconvenience. Death... now that was harder to get out of.”Amara straightened slowly, her voice h

  • Forbidden: Fated To My Step Son    Chapter 69: Mirrors Lie With Familiar Eyes

Amara's POV I hated how much of me they got right. The mirrors surrounded us—brittle, silver-edged lies dressed in truth. Each one flickered with pieces of a life that could have been, or might still be. I stood in the center of them, barefoot on a floor no longer pulsing with runes but with heartbeat. Mine. Or the Vault’s. I wasn’t sure anymore.Kael stood to my left, jaw clenched, his eyes locked on one particular mirror. In it, he wore a crown. But there was no one beside him.My reflection—his version of me—was missing.“I would never let that happen,” he said, barely a whisper.“I know,” I murmured. “But these mirrors… They don’t care about the truth. Only fear.”Alexander walked the perimeter slowly, eyes sweeping the images, lips moving like he was reading something none of us could see. Victor hovered near the entrance, arms crossed, his face unreadable for once.“They’re taunting you,” Victor said. “Every Alpha who’s faced the Vault went through this.”“This isn’t a Vault,”

  • Forbidden: Fated To My Step Son    Chapter 67: Doors That Should Never Open

Amara’s POV Wind howled through the ruins like the last breath of a dying god.I stood frozen, staring at Victor’s bloodied smile and the man beside him—my father, Alpha Alexander, real and weary. The answers I had spent my entire life searching for had arrived on broken legs, cloaked in smoke and betrayal. Kael stood at my side, tense but silent, his hand hovering near the hilt of his dagger.“You’re late,” Victor said again, voice gravel and spite. “But not too late. Not yet.”“What’s he doing here?” I asked.Alexander’s voice was low, almost reluctant. “He led me to the Vault.”I stared at him in disbelief. “You trusted him?”“I didn’t trust him. I used him. Just like he used you.”Victor chuckled. “You always did have a way with words, old wolf.”“Shut up,” I snapped, and something inside me cracked—raw, jagged. The air around me shifted. The blade on my back pulsed in response.Victor saw it too. “Ah. You’re waking up again.”Kael stepped forward. “She’s awake enough to kill you
