Chapter 36

I wake up to the sound of steady beeps and whispering voices. Slowly opening my eyes, Adair and a lady with a white coat stand in front of my bed, their eyes directed at me.

“What’s going on?” I croak trying to prop myself up on the bed. A sharp pain shoots up my arm and I let out a cry.

“No, don’t get up!” Adair exclaims helping me lay back down.

My eyes wander around the white room, taking in my surroundings.

I'm in the hospital.

Everything starts to slowly come back to me as I remember us waiting outside on the steps for the paparrazi to be cleared out of the way, the loud noise, the sharp pain, getting shot, and passing out.

“Hello Ms. Carter, I’m Dr. Jacobs. How are you feeling?” The doctor asks as she walks over to my bedside checking on my vitals.

“I feel okay, but my arm hurts a bit.” I say in discomfort.

“Luckily the bullet didn’t go
