Rosella

I starred in the midst of the air. My thoughts running a marathon.

After the conversation, Dr. Serafino declared that I wasn’t a scholarship student anymore, more or less he basically kicked me out.

My inhaler rested within my hand as I tried to calm my breaths down. My heart rapidly thumped against my chest and my breaths shortened by each passing second, the inhaler didn’t help my asthma right now.

My parents would be so disappointed in me.

Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. They would feel so sad.

Letting a scream out, I finally plopped myself on the comfortable bed. Closing my eyes, I listened to the silence, my mind drifted back to him. He made my insides flip and I couldn’t understand why I felt that way. When his had eyes met mine in the class, it felt as if the world had stopped.

It was just me and him.

Why am I even thinking about him?

Soon my thoughts were cut short when I heard my phone vibrate against my bed. Receiving the call without glancing at the number I tiredly muttered, “Hello.”

“Hi honey.” The voice of my mother invaded my ears making me jolt up. “Hi mama, how are you?”

“I’m good honey, how about you? How is your university going?” She asked. A sad smile appeared on my face. “Its okay mama, I’m still tired though.” She chuckled.

“My lazy bird, I have a good news for you!”

“Oh Oh? What is it?” I asked, curiosity dripping from my voice. “Remember Stella and her father George?”

“Yes! I do, oh my god, it has been years since I’ve met her.” I sadly replied. She was my other older bestfriend who lived in the previous neighborhood.

“Her father offered your father to work with him, so we are shifting in Stella’s house for the time being until we get our own house in LA.” She enthusiastically stated. I could hear papa chuckling from behind. “Really? That is so amazing!! Cant wait to meet you both and also Stella.” I screeched out, feeling happy for once after the drama.

“Also Stella said that you could live with us and forget the dorms and all.”

“I don’t know mama, university could be far away also I have shifts at night.” I trailed off in the end. “Honey, I don’t wanna hear you say no, you’ll come and live with us.” She finalized the decision making me sigh knowing I had no say in it. “Okay mama as you say.”

“That’s my good girl, also we’ll be coming in 2 days so better start packing your things up.” She uttered, I could imagine the widest smile stretched on her face.

Mama always wanted a joint family. She didn’t liked the idea of living apart but somehow I ended up here in LA only because of my dream study.

I hummed. “Mama, I’ll call you later, I’m kinda sleepy right now.” I yawned out. “Ofcourse honey, love you, also papa is sending you love too.”

“Love you too, both.” With that I ended the call.

I was happy for papa since he was always working his old ass off to find jobs.

Meeting Stella would be kinda awkward because it has been atleast eight years since we had last met but I was also happy since she was always there for me when mama and papa were working late night.

Basically, she was my babysitter.

After a few years she had left for London to pursue her doctorate degree. I wonder how she looks like now? She must be pretty.

Back then even in her teens, she was really beautiful.

Plopping myself back down, I tugged my favorite stuffed animal to my side. Don't judge me but I love stuffed animals. They’re squishy! And also very comfortable. They give the best hugs too!!

Yawning, my eyes flickered close and soon I drifted into a deep slumber with a small smile resting on my face.

Finally we’ll be a happy family again.
