Chapter 6 - She Isn't Like Other Women

Andrei's POV

The night I first saw her, she was feisty. She behaved like a feral cat.

Her purple eyes were fiery as she faced me head on.

Today, it's different.

She smiled at me with her cheeks a bit flushed.

I know what was running in her mind.

She was embarrassed that she had scolded me that night.

I looked at her blankly without giving away what I felt inside.

She neared the bed and sat at the edge of the bed.

I could see her concern while she checked if I had a fever.

Relief was written on her face when the thermometer indicated that my temperature was normal.

My heart galloped when she held my wrist.

I held my breath but my pulse went wild.

She frowned and asked me, stuttering, "M.. Mr. President, a - re you not feeling well?"

I stared at her expressionlessly.

She then took her stethoscope when I did not say a word.

I watched her bewildered face.

After hearing my thundering heart beat, she took a look at me.

I wanted to laugh at how puzzled she was but kept my face expressionless.

To check my blood pressure she took the sphygmometer. The result made her flustered.

"Please, do tell me if you aren't feeling well, Mr. President," I heard her anxious voice pleading with me to tell what I felt.

As a doctor, hearing my thundering heart beat and racing pulse rate while at rest was bewildering when the blood pressure didn't indicate any abnormalities.

Of course, that would perplex her.

I wanted to tease her and see what she would do but I relented seeing how worried she was.

I swallowed as I felt my throat was dry.

"I'm thirsty," I answered her.

Immediately, she went to get water for me.

The moment she closed the door, General Rossini's laughter reverberated.

"Mr. President, General Chester eyed her as a gift for you but she isn't like other women out there," General Rossini said dryly.

I eyed General Rossini, he was the most trusted General I have.

Unlike other Generals he didn't resort to sending women to me just to prove his allegiance to me.

"Ahem," he cleared his throat when I was silent.

"Mr. President, I consulted the other Generals you trusted and we all agreed that it would be safer for you to recuperate here," General Rossini said and I pursued my lips into a thin line.

Weighing the pros and cons of recuperating here.

I have many rivals in politics. They would use this to attack me.

There would be grave repercussions to the nation.

The reason I have to stay here for my recuperation is to keep this secret from the enemies that were lurking around.

"You will be safe here president, the estate is secluded and we have dispatched soldiers to ensure your safety.

They wouldn't be wearing their uniform so we won't draw any attention," General Rossini knew that I was trying to weigh down the pros and cons of staying here.

I frowned. "How long will I be staying here?"

"Captain Smith said that under normal circumstances you will be good to go back to the capital by two weeks but she's also a dietitian and assured me that she could make your recuperation under two weeks," the way my good friend said was as though Captain Smith was his daughter.

There was pride in his voice.

My frown became deeper. "Is she a registered dietitian?"

"She's a smart woman. She has a double degree. She has a degree in biological science and a dietitian degree at the age of 15.

And became a surgeon at age of 24," General Rossini said with a smug face.

"How old is she?" I got curious knowing she's a prodigy.

"She turned 25 a few months ago," he replied.

We talked several things about the nation's situation when a soft knock sounded on the door.

When General Rossini made his assent the door was pushed open by one of the soldiers guarding the door.

The purple eyed beauty came with a tray in her hands and put it down on the night stand.

I struggled to keep my face neutral as she hugged me so she could help me sit.

I could feel the softness of her body and smell her vanilla scent.

General Rossini was looking at me as if he was enjoying how I struggled to keep my face straight.

Afraid of losing my composure, I looked away from him and turned my gaze to Captain Smith.

I watched her pour the water in the glass after propping me with pillows behind.

When she was handing me the glass of water, I just stared at her.

Right, she's a smart woman. She understood what I mean without saying a word.

She lifted the cup to my lips and her hand trembled when she caught me looking intently at her.

I choked and some water spilled on my chest.

What she did next, completely made my body hot.

She took a napkin and wiped my chest. I held her hand and stopped her.

Evidently, she was puzzled that my hand was hot as she checked my temperature again.

From her reaction, I deduce that she had no idea about my body's reaction to her.

She's smart and intelligent but naive.

I was between admiration and annoyance of how innocent she was.

She had no idea that one was already desiring her body.

I wanted to lecture her about being too naive.

However, General Rossini spoke before me.

She showed no reaction when she was being commanded to cook for me and help me clean my body.

Somehow, I was anticipating that fiesty girl I met last night.

To my utter dismay, I did not see the fire in her beautiful purple eyes.
