Sienna's POV

The streetlights were still glowing dimly when Liam’s car stopped in front of the house. I glanced into the back seat, Noah had already fallen asleep, his face peaceful, his breathing steady, his small lips slightly parted. I smiled faintly, a wave of relief and tenderness washing over me at the sight of him so calm after a full day wandering around the mall.

Liam turned off the engine, then looked at me briefly before getting out.

“I’ll carry Noah. Can you take the shopping bags?” he asked softly.

I nodded. “Yes, I’ll take them.”

He carefully opened the back door, lifting Noah’s little body with such gentleness that he didn’t wake. The boy stirred slightly, murmured something incoherent, then sank back into deep sleep in his father’s arms. The sight made my heart tremble again.

We walked quietly into the house. Liam headed upstairs to Noah’s room, laying him down on the bed with such care. I paused at the doorway, watching from afar.

Sienna's POV My lips softened as I giggled. "I might take a break." My work desk at home has remained untidened as of now.She playfully told her that they should all be quiet, but her tone was clear. “You merit it." We both smiled. We maintained a comfortable silence as we didn't need to end the conversation, but because we both knew it was not time for grand conclusions. At times, it's just a relief that we've made it to this point.Closing my eyes for a second, I thought about what the cafe was doing and its. My first experience wasn't involving any evidence. I just wanted to enjoy this small talk, a cup of coffee, a friendly chat and the peace I’d not felt for months. With a soft voice, Livia glanced at me once more. "You're doing great, Sienna," she said softly. “You not only found yourself through that story but also your work as well." Despite the sudden surge of emotions, I swallowed deeply to keep my composure. "I'm proud of where I came from

Sienna's POV The room became quieter when I glanced at her. The outside noise echoed with only the faint sound of traffic, while inside they were simply talking to two friends who had been through a lot.It dawned on me that Livia was more than just an editor or a writer. She witnessed all aspects of my life, from the time I wrote out of frustration to the moment I dared to write truthfully. After hearing her words, I retreated to my chair. My writing always made me cry, not because of sadness but because I felt someone understood my words. The pain, loss, and hope that I had concealed between the lines had somehow reached out to another person. How fortunate! It was magical.I breathed deeply, examining my fingers as they stretched. Memories of prolonged writing nights, such as dim desk lighting, typing in silence, and iced coffee always seem to fade away before I could finish. It was as though each moment had been part of a long journey and now it feels all t

Sienna's POV Within a few minutes of Liam's departure, I was still in my seat, ogling the remains from inside me. As the café became more bustling, glasses clinked, laughter broke out, and an espresso machine hummed up. My thoughts persisted at the table, lingering on despite the gentle conversations and unsettling looks. The silence was too much to articulate. My mind took a deep breath, trying to keep my focus level. I should have felt relieved. At last, there was no longer any sense of anger or regret. Still though, I felt the feeling. It's possible that I wasn't entirely sure about our relationship after this. Possibly due to my persistent hesitation to trust once more, I had lost all faith.I reflected on the cup in front of me, reflecting on an earlier moment. The softness of Liam's eyes, his silent expression, as if he recognized my lack of readiness. That should have been enough. It was clear to me that a relationship like ours, which had been broken and now b

Sienna's POV The words stuck with me, but I didn't know why. His tone was one of acceptance rather than sadness or regret. This morning, maybe it was that. Why is that? Both of us had stopped running and were gradually relearning to walk together. The door was half open, and I could smell the faint espresso odor.Liam stared at me briefly before dismounting his seatbelt. “Come on." After that, I nodded and opened the door and walked out.We reached a tiny coffee shop situated close to Noah's school. The place was not busy earlier, only a handful of customers perusing laptops or newspapers.A friendly smile was seen on the barista as she asked what they wanted to order. With a smile on his face, Liam nodded and asked if he wanted 'two cappuccinos and chocolate croissants'.I chuckled. "I'm really into chocolate croissants. What could it be?”"I'm surprised to hear that you had a liking for those," he said.“You’re welcome to see all of

Sienna's POV I whispered, "He's mature enough, doesn't he?" With a single glance towards the same direction, Liam nodded in agreement. "It's too fast to judge. But I'm proud." I nodded slightly, my gaze fixed on the classroom door that had recently swallowed this little creature. It was so beautiful. There was an odd sensation in my heart - pride, happiness, and some discomfort. It felt like yesterday when I taught him how to hold a spoon properly, but now he's big enough to walk into his classroom and not look back.Standing beside me, Liam was silent and didn't speak much, but his presence alone reassured me. We were still in the cool morning air, but the sun was heating up our skin. There were more children coming in, with some running around and others crying to have their hands on him again. A familiar rhythm of soothing parents, teachers, and swift movement of children arose in this morning.I breathed deeply, striving to keep the tension in my mind. On

Sienna's POV The freshness of the morning was palpable when we all left the house. As the sun rose from the sky, it was reflected in the trees along the roadside. With his new backpack on him, Noah shuffled between us and bounced back with ease, appearing to be too big for his small size.My fingers were tighter as he softly said, "Mommy, I'm apprehensive." "I smiled and curled up to fit in with his height. That's the way it was." Everybody's heart goes crazy on the very first day. It's within my capabilities to acknowledge that you can.Liam, positioned on Noah's opposite side, gently stated, "Dad and Mommy are here for you whenever you feel anxious." Noah nodded and his face lightened up once more.We proceeded towards the car that was parked in front of the house. Despite the cool morning air, we were all enveloped in a strange warmth. Noah made small steps before turning around and calling out, "I'm sitting in the back, Mommy!" as he continued on.
