Sienna's POV

This morning, sunlight slipped through the sheer curtains of the hospital’s VIP room. I opened my eyes feeling lighter than I had in the past few days. The pain in my stomach hadn’t completely disappeared, but it was far more manageable. My breathing came easier. Unlike two days ago, when every movement made me wince.

Liam was no longer in his chair. Since I woke up, the seat had been empty, leaving only the trace of a rumpled thin blanket and the faint scent of his cologne. I didn’t know what time he left, or where he had gone. All I knew was that last night, he was still here making sure I was comfortable before finally falling asleep in that very chair. As always, Liam never announced the things he did for me. He simply did them.

For some reason, an odd feeling crept into my chest when I realized his absence this morning. Maybe I had grown too used to seeing him whenever I opened my eyes. Maybe I was beginning to miss his presence.

Sienna's POV I smiled, a little pouty. "Uh oh, you didn't go to cream with Mommy?!" Noah's eyes caught with excitement as he gazed at me and quickly said, "Mommy, I saved some for you!" He seemed afraid that I would be upset. My laughter accompanied my pins and his cheek. "Oh, no! could even be heard. What a good boy." With laughter streaming out of me, Noah quickly slid into my arms and ran towards the coffee table. He then opened his bag to present me with something special. "I received a gold star today," he said, while smooching on.I gazed at him and exclaimed, "That's fantastic! Mommy's so proud of you." His eyes shone and he dashed to the kitchen, saying, "Let me put this on the fridge for my father!" He exclaimed. His lively little form occupied my gaze as I watched, still wincing and smiling. Noah's presence always made the house feel more lively, with his laughter and footsteps filling any empty space that had previously filled.Footstep

Sienna's POV A couple of young adults shared a slice of cake and laughed at each other on the same table. They seemed so uncomplicated and effortless, as if the world held no importance. I smiled watching them. I thought maybe I had forgotten what it was like just to sit with someone and have a good time, not worrying about tomorrow. However, I am now inclined towards learning again slowly. The same clerk came to my table, carrying the completed cake. “Your cake is done already!” She replied. With a sweet and simple design, the cake was beautifully decorated and displayed with an indelible message of appreciation.I inspected it briefly, then smiled with pride. It's possible that I was meant to receive those words as well as Liam' mother, for the small act of bravery that had propelled me forward.A few minutes later, the cake was neatly boxed up in a cream envelope tied back with soft pink ribbon. I made the payment, thanked the clerk, and left the building.A

Sienna's POV Our conversation with Liliana lasted almost two hours before we parted ways in front of the café. Her smile was typical of hers, and I gave her a gentle wave.Prior to getting into her car, she urged people not to forget about their vacation."I chuckled and nodded in agreement. Let's go over it." As she drove off, I stood on the sidewalk for a moment. I was under the gentle peat-and-white breeze from the afternoon, with lingering coffee aromas from downstairs and the scent of fresh flowers from outside. I wasn't ready to go home yet. I experienced a warm yet nervous sensation when I remembered Liam's words about his mother wanting to meet me that morning. This was a heartfelt sentiment. As I walked, I felt the gentle sun set behind me and gently patted my face on the sidewalk. Despite the busy traffic across the street, there were only a few sounds of footsteps, engine noises, and laughter from dozens of students as they exited one of the bookstor

Sienna's POV After a brief glance, Liam replied with an affirmative, "Alright. Please reach out to me after you've finished.”The door was closed with a gentle nod as I nodded in anticipation. While he drove away, I watched his car pass by in front of the café and stared at my reflection through the glass window. There was a face that seemed to be more composed and alive in the reflection. My heart didn't feel cold, even though the air in the middle of the afternoon still had a soft chill. I felt a sense of lighterness after talking about everything in the car, including the meeting tonight. Maybe I had finally gotten over the feeling of being disconnected from everything.I turned around and saw a small sign that said Bloom & Brew Café. The place wasn't very big, but it always had a good vibe. With the glass open, I could hear some people chatting over coffee, and each time it opened, the door held out with the sweet scent of cinnamon and caramel. The handle of

Sienna's POV There was no sound as the car stopped moving. The radio track transformed into a soothing piano piece. My fingers were intertwined on my lap, and I observed the simple progress we had made, from the stillness of our surroundings to the peaceful conversations we now have.Liam looked at the clock on the dashboard and inquired if he wanted to drive him there.Looking at Liam, I was slightly hesitant. "It's fine, let's take a cab. The office is probably within your reach.”"I'm still here," he said softly, his voice firm but gentle. "My sole desire is for you to safely make your way." I didn't argue. He spoke with a confidence that made me feel. Perhaps I was free to accept that feeling without any guilt.Liam nodded slightly. He had a relaxed feeling in his hands when he was driving, but the tightness of his jaw indicated that sat in thought.Within seconds, he glanced to the side and whispered:“Sienna, If my mother wanted to see you ton

Sienna's POV The auto went slow between lines of woods dropping their leaves. I looked out the glass, seeing Noah by the school door, waving his small hand at us before rushing in with his pals. His face was so bright, pure, full of joy as usual and seeing him like that I couldn’t help but feel some warmth in my chest.I stayed looking until his tiny shape vanished behind the door then let out a quiet breath and leaned back on the chair. Liam got into his seat, shutting the car door softly before starting the engine.“He seems quite glad these days,” I said with a tiny grin.Liam looked at me quickly, a small grin on his face. “Because you got him yesterday. He spoke about it all night long”I chuckled soft, but something in my chest shook a blend of happiness and worry. This little feeling of being near still felt fresh to me, like something that once looked hard had now turned true.“He even sketched you in his book” Liam went on
