An Idea of How She Lived Before

Hayden’s POV

Something had driven me to follow Abby to her training session after I caught that look on her face. I couldn’t quite read it, she’d masked it too quickly, replaced it with something else entirely. I leaned by the door, watching as she walked in those heels and faltered several times.

Then came the cutlery. The way she struggled to handle it sparked something in me. Curiosity. How was she raised, being an Alpha’s daughter?

I made a comment about her flaw and walked away, but the feeling lingered.

Something was off.

I hadn’t looked deeply into Abby when I requested one of Alpha Thorn’s daughters to seal the alliance. I didn’t need specifics. Just knew one of them would be enough to serve the purpose.

I mind-linked Alex right away. He sounded groggy, a yawn slipping through. Yeah, work had been rough.

“Check how Abby lived in her father’s pack,” I said, cutting the link before he could respond.

How is it possible that an Alpha’s daughter can’t manage the basics? The summit

Abby's POVAccording to what Lady Seraphina said yesterday, I’m already improving in the training. Thanks to that slim book Elder Leo gave me to study at home. It really helps.“Can we go now, Mrs. Roche?” Elder Leo, who had been waiting in the living room for ten minutes, called out. It’s become his daily ritual since I started Luna training, coming to pick me up each morning. I’ve told him I can go on my own, but he won’t hear it. “It’s an order from the Alpha,” he always says.I adjusted my clothes, unnecessarily, though, and then replied, “Yes, we can go now.”Elder Leo had explained how important the upcoming summit is. I’ll be going with Hayden to help convince Alpha Edward, the owner of DK Groups, to support us. I heard he used to be my father’s friend. Elder Leo also hinted that Derek is trying to hijack the deal, and honestly, a part of me wishes he would.I’m not a rebellious wife…but has Hayden ever seen me as his wife? The pain I felt the last time he brought Marbel was in

Hayden's POVThe forest was filled with the sound of pounding feet, snapping branches, and sharp snarls. The Ashwolf was fast. Faster than I’d imagined. But we were faster, thanks to the brutal training I’d put myself and my warriors through. We were able to stay close. Too close for it to vanish. Too close for it to even breathe.“Fan out! Don’t let it double back!” I barked. It suddenly leapt into a thick patch of trees, forcing us to split. Alex veered left, Jason stayed with me, and the other three warriors circled to the right. We followed the stench, thicker now, suffocating, and within minutes, we had it cornered. No escape route. No chance to run again. It stopped. Turned. Faced us. Its mouth hung open as it sucked in air, greedy and ragged, like it hadn't breathed in years. Then It crouched low, limbs twitching like broken branches trying to move. But it didn’t lunge.Instead, it smiled. A low, guttural sound rolled from its chest. Something between a growl and a laugh. Twis

Hayden's POV“What is it?” I asked through the mind-link, steadying my voice.Alex wasted no time feeding me the situation. It was bad. Really bad. My jaw tightened.“I’ll alert the pack. Get everyone to safety,” I said.“Where are you now?”He dropped his location, and I didn't hesitate.I threw on a shirt and bolted downstairs.Calling my house security team together, I quickly filled them in.“No one leaves this house,” I ordered, flipping the security alarm on. They also sprinted into action.I closed my eyes and tapped into the pack-link, sending a message across the bond that tied every member to their Alpha.“Everyone, stay indoors. Lock your doors. Ashwolves are within our pack borders.”I could hear their panic rippling faintly across the bond, but I shut it down with a surge of Alpha authority.“Do not step outside, and do not panic. The pack warriors and security team are handling it. Wait for further instructions.”Of course, they knew better than to risk falling into the

Hayden’s POVMarbel’s name flashed on the screen. She’d been out of town for a few days. Guess she's back.“Hello,” I said, placing the phone to my ear.We spoke briefly, and just as I guessed, she’s around. I told her to come to the office so we could head to my place together. She called at the right time.Marbel gives me what I want, and I’m cool with it. Every man craves peace of mind, and that’s why I like Marbel. No unnecessary drama or trying to pin a pregnancy on me like Valentina. Something I’m just not ready for yet.It didn’t take long before Marbel arrived and we went home together, though not until I had sorted out and attended to every necessary document and file. I mind-linked Alex and Lucious, told them to handle the rest. I drove home myself.Abby’s scent hit me the moment we walked into the living room, making Rey turn his body. She was kneeling down in front of Valentina. She brought this on herself. Rey grunted in my head, so I was forced to ask why she was kneel

Hayden's POV(Earlier today)Sincerely, the scene I walked in on this morning with Abby, smeared in vegetables and kneeling, wasn’t pleasant. It felt like a slap to my face. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I love her… but damn it, she’s still my wife. And as much as I hate to admit it, she’s my mate also.Yeah, I sound like a hypocrite. I know that. But how else am I supposed to explain this? How else can I make you understand the chaos in my head right now?Rey growled in my mind, adding to the mess already inside me. He’s been quiet and moody for days, acting like a lovesick pup. That’s not like him. Rey and I have always shared one mind, one will, one goal. But since we found Abby… we haven’t been aligned.Rey wants her. I don’t.Or maybe I refused to.“You want her as much as I do, Hayden,” Rey snapped, making me flinch. I wasn’t expecting him to talk. He’s been mute for days like I said earlier.“I don’t,” I fired back. Why did you agree to take her when you could’ve gone for h
