Chapter 2

Author: Washing Wheat
With a snap, she closed her metal lighter, smirking. "Dad, you can't blame us for playing favorites. Adrian has always thrown his weight around at school, emboldened by the family fortune. If we don't teach him a lesson today, plenty of people out in the real world will do it for you."

These four adopted daughters who I had poured my heart and soul into raising for a decade…

I had spent a fortune hiring top-tier mentors to school them in strategy, vision and the art of manipulation.

I pulled them from the mire of the orphanage and bestowed upon them status and resources beyond the reach of ordinary people.

However, they turned the very tactics I had taught them against my biological son and joined forces with outsiders to bully him.

I walked past Shania and went straight to Adrian's side.

Adrian bit his lower lip hard, tears silently flowing. "Dad..."

His voice was hoarse; his hands clutched his tattered school uniform tightly, as if it were the last shred of dignity he had left.

I took off my cashmere coat and wrapped it firmly around Adrian. "It's okay now."

I stroked his ice-cold hair and pulled him into an embrace.

Shania watched my actions, frowning deeper. "Dad, shielding him so blindly will only ruin Adrian."

She walked over and tried to grab Adrian's arm. "Adrian, get up and apologize to Elliot and we won't pursue the matter further."

I spun around and slapped Shania’s face.

The sharp slap echoed through the restroom.

Shania's gold-rimmed glasses slid off and hit the floor, cracking upon impact.

Juliette and Vivian's expressions changed instantly.

"Dad! What are you doing?"

Juliette shielded Elliot behind her and rushed forward. "You actually hit Shania over something so trivial?"

Shania raised a hand to stop Juliette. She turned her head; the slap mark was visible on her fair skin.

Even so, she maintained her condescending composure. "Dad, if hitting me helps vent your anger, I won't fight back. But I stand by what I said: Adrian must learn to respect others. Until he does, the four of us will never acknowledge him as our brother."

Elliot hid behind Juliette and tugged gently at her sleeve. "Juliette, Mr. Fuller is so scary. I'm scared."

Nicole scoffed, toying with the lighter in her hand. "Dad, you've really disappointed us today. I thought you could distinguish right from wrong; I never expected you to be like ordinary parents who spoil their children rotten."

I glanced icily at those four self-righteous faces, wondering, 'Had I raised them too well over the past decade? So well that they'd forgotten exactly what they were?'

"Your disappointment means nothing to me." I helped Adrian to his feet and looked condescendingly at them.

"Since you believe Adrian throws his weight around just because the family is wealthy, then none of the four of you will spend another penny of the Fullers' money."

Vivian scoffed. She crossed her arms and cast a disdainful glance elsewhere. "Dad, are you threatening us with cutting off our cards again? We handle so many core projects at Fuller Group; do you really think the company can keep running without us?"

Shania bent over to pick up her glasses. She leisurely wiped the dust from the lenses with a handkerchief before putting them back on. "Dad, we've spent ten years by your side. Even if we haven't achieved much, surely you can't say we haven't worked hard. Are you really going to go to such extremes over a good-for-nothing like Adrian?"

I shielded Adrian as we walked toward the exit.

I sat in the VIP lounge of the venue, watching the TV broadcast and sipping a glass of champagne.Adrian no longer needed my guidance. He maintained the empire even better than when I built it."Sir." Alfred walked in and handed me a tablet. "This is the routine report from the prison."I glanced at it casually.During the past five years, Shania and the others' lives inside there could best be described as "eventful and dramatic".The people arranged by Jenny were constantly trying to "take care of" them in various ways. The report came with a short video. In the video, four women with grizzled hair and emaciated bodies were wearing prison uniforms and carrying heavy stones in the prison quarry.Shania's gold-rimmed glasses were long gone. Her eyes were dull, and her movements were slow. Whenever there was a pause, she would be beaten hard by the prison guards.Juliette's leg was broken in a fight and did not receive proper treatment. Now she walked with a limp.Vivian's ba

Shania was choking so hard her eyes rolled back; the two of them wrestled desperately in the mud.Juliette tried to intervene, but was kicked in the stomach by Nicole. She then fell to the ground, curled up in pain. The Fuller heiresses who had once dominated the business world and had deep sisterly bonds were attempting to shirk responsibility, tearing into each other in the mud like a pack of rabid dogs. Dignity and decency were completely gone.Adrian watched the scene coldly, holding an umbrella and turning to walk into the large iron gate, instructing flatly, "Close the gates." The heavy iron gates slowly closed amid their desperate screams and scolding, completely cutting off the ugly scene from the Fullers' world.Three months later, the court's verdict was officially issued. Shania, Juliette, Vivian, and Nicole were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime of embezzlement and commercial fraud involving an extremely large amount. The day the verdict came down, Adri

Adrian ruthlessly kicked Juliette's hand away. "You're regretting it not because you feel guilty toward me, but because you finally realized that the man you fought so hard to protect is nothing but a greedy b*stard who only cares about money. And you're broke now."Adrian spoke with precision, mercilessly exposing the truth behind their lies. "You're not here to ask for forgiveness; you're here looking for a way to survive."Vivian closed her eyes in pain.Nicole’s head slumped down. She had no strength left to even argue.Because everything Adrian spoke was fact.I stepped out from behind Adrian.Jenny held an umbrella and stood steadily behind me.Seeing me, Shania looked like she was grasping the last lifeline. "Dad! Give us another chance. We promise to repay you with our service."I looked at their tear-streaked faces, feeling absolutely nothing. "Repay me with your service? Who do you think you are?"I took a thick stack of documents from Jenny and slammed them right in

The autumn rain was pouring continuously. The consecutive days of temperature drops had made this city feel extremely cold. The iron gate outside the Fullers' mansion was tightly closed.Shania, Juliette, Vivian, and Nicole had been kneeling in the rain for a full three hours. They were completely soaked; their worn-out clothes clung tightly to their bodies, their lips turning blue and their bodies shaking with cold.Shania held tightly onto a faded and exquisite figurine box in her hand. It was the first limited edition model she bought for Adrian with the six months' worth of pocket money she had saved up ten years ago.Holding an umbrella, Alfred stood inside the iron gate, expressionlessly looking at them. "Please go back. Sir and Young Master don't want to see you.""Alfred, please help us out."Juliette suddenly dropped her head, and mud and water splashed onto her face. "We're really sorry. We have seen Elliot's true colors. He's a liar! We will never see him again! Pleas

After recognizing Nicole, he not only did not look guilty, but burst out laughing hysterically. "Nicole, what kind of big shot are you pretending to be?"Elliot covered his face with his hands, his eyes filled with malice. "You four are only peasants now! You don't even have the money to buy me a limited edition watch. How could you expect me to suffer with you? If it weren't for your own stupidity, deliberately provoking that old timer, Greg Fuller, I wouldn't have ended up in this situation!"Hearing this, Shania and Juliette, who arrived later, also froze in shock.Shania looked at Elliot in disbelief, her voice trembling. "Elliot, what did you say? It was you who cried about Adrian bullying you; that's why we defended you."Elliot scoffed, his eyes full of contempt. "You believed him when he said he bullied me? Are your brains just for breathing? I had someone copy Adrian's business plan, and I deliberately spilled coffee onto Adrian's shoes. I just couldn't stand his arrogance

He did not reply but turned to look at the chief engineer beside him. "Brian, have we gotten the load-bearing calculations for Zone B yet?” Brian Wilson promptly and respectfully replied, "Mr. Fuller, it has been calculated and fully meets your estimated standards."Adrian nodded and then turned back to look at Shania. "Did you hear that?"His voice was icy and indifferent. "Without you, Fuller Group not only didn't collapse but is operating even better. Your so-called 'irreplaceable' status is just a joke you yourselves have imagined."Shania's face turned bright red. She pointed at Adrian. "Adrian, don't be too smug! Everything you have now is from your dad!"Adrian stepped forward and closed in on Shania. Although he was slightly younger and more inexperienced than her, his commanding presence completely overwhelmed her. "You're wrong."Adrian stared coldly into her eyes. "Everything I have is because my surname is Fuller. And you're just a group of ungrateful parasites. With
