ADRIENNE’S POV
“Are you okay?” Alec’s voice draws me out from whatever trance I was in some moments ago. He had immediately brought the car to a halt after driving past the truck we were about to run into.
It seemed like the driver was drunk but that was the least of his concern as his greens eyes stared at me with worry.
A feeling of déjà vu had swept through me as my feelings were all over the place. I felt a little dizzy as I try to calm my hastened breathing.
“Are you okay?” I ask Alec when I was finally able to put words together.
“Don’t worry about me. I’m sorry I put you through this, I should have been paying attention.” He gives a sigh of relief before starting the car once again. Not long after, we were back at the vacation house.
