Chapter 16

Autor: Anonymous
A month had passed since Seraphina left, but Caelum still hadn't found a single trace of her.

He hired experts to digitally restore the torn tapestries from the secret chamber. Then, he had them remade and hung them back where they belonged.

Liam no longer attended school. He stayed in the secret chamber every day. Even when he slept at night, he held on to a photo of Seraphina.

Caelum expanded the search to every region. He even sent messengers to all his territories and asked anyone who saw Seraphina to report to him immediately.

None of the other packs knew she had left because Caelum cheated. They assumed something bad had happened to her.

"Did something happen to the Luna of the Blackwood pack? Was she kidnapped by rogue wolves?"

"I heard the Blackwood pack Alpha is nearly losing his mind in his search for her."

"They were such a loving couple. I hope the Alpha finds her soon. I miss seeing them together."

"Alpha Caelum loves his Luna so deeply."

"Sera, even if you can't forgive us, Liam is still the pup you carried for nine months. We're about to leave. Could you at least hug him one more time?" Caelum pleaded.Liam tugged on Seraphina's sleeve timidly. "Mom, I'm really sorry. Can you please hug me one last time? Pretty please?"Ethan stood to the side with Lily in his arms. He remained silent.Just then, Lily suddenly spoke up. "Mommy, is he really your son?"Ethan visibly tensed up when he heard the question.Seraphina thought for a moment and answered, "He used to be. But now, the only child I have is you, Lily."The moment those words left her lips, Liam couldn't take it and started sobbing uncontrollably. He sobbed, "No, Mom! I'm your pup!"Lily felt sorry for him when she heard him cry so miserably. She asked, "Mommy, did he mess up very badly? Can't you forgive him?"Seraphina pinched Lily's cheek with an amused expression. "When you grow up, you'll understand that some mistakes can never be forgiven."That s

Caelum couldn't understand. How could he possibly not love Seraphina?Ever since she left, he hadn't had a good night's sleep. To find her, he had even been willing to sacrifice his own health. How could Seraphina think he didn't love her?He stared at her with eyes full of anguish. "Sera, how could I not love you?"Seraphina let out a soft, humorless laugh. She recounted the incidents one by one. "You say you love me, but you went to see Rayna behind my back. And how did you make it up to me for my birthday? By hunting with her in Mount Neviah. During the avalanche, you even protected her without hesitation. Are you sure you love me?"With every sentence she spoke, Caelum's face grew paler. It was as if the words themselves were daggers that pierced straight through his chest.Never in his life had he hated himself more in that moment. If only he had stayed true to his heart and pushed Rayna away from the beginning, none of this would have happened.Seraphina saw the sadness i

Liam hadn't seen Seraphina for two months. After finally finding her, he did not just hear another child call her "Mommy". What was more devastating for him was seeing his mother, who used to dote on him unconditionally, giving him the cold shoulder. He could no longer bear the sadness in his heart as he burst into loud sobs. "Mom, do you not want me anymore? I'm your pup!"In the past, the moment he cried, Seraphina would sweep him into her arms and comfort him patiently. However, now she just stood there and watched him quietly.Liam waited and waited for that warm hand he loved so much to wipe his tears. When he finally opened his eyes, Seraphina was still standing where she was. She merely looked at him with a calm, distant gaze."Are you done crying? Do you understand how I felt when I found out you called Rayna 'Mommy' now?" she questioned.Ever since Liam was born, Seraphina had raised him by herself until he was six. The love she gave him was no less than what she once ga

Caelum and Liam had never imagined that after two months of non-stop searching, their first sighting of Seraphina would cause them so much heartbreak. Before this moment, Caelum had always believed that Seraphina wouldn't have completely abandoned them. After all, they had loved each other for ten years. She had also carried Liam in her belly for nine months.Even if she was still angry now, she would eventually forgive them as long as they sincerely apologized. He truly believed their family of three could return to the happy times they once shared. To make things worse, that man was holding a child. And that child called her Mommy! They looked like a family of three.Caelum's mind went entirely blank.Liam, on the other hand, was filled with overwhelming anguish. After another month of searching for Seraphina, Caelum still found nothing. Everyone around him urged him to give up.Even the long-retired pack elder advised him to stop. He reasoned that since Seraphina had chosen to leave, she would not have left behind any trace for him to locate her. Moreover, the Blackwood pack was on the brink of collapse. So, he should return and take charge.Still, Caelum refused to give up. He was certain he would eventually find Seraphina. The elder stared at the stubborn and obsessed Caelum. He felt furious yet helpless at the same time. If Caelum had known he would one day suffer like this, why had he betrayed Seraphina in the first place?Unwilling to watch the pack fall apart, the elder personally stepped in to take over the pack's affairs. From that point onward, Caelum poured all of his time and strength into the search for Seraphina. Liam followed him every day, helping in any way he could.Whenever they received any possible sighting of Seraphi

Back then, Seraphina's disappearance had been so sudden that no one at college knew what had happened. All they knew was that her parents filed a withdrawal for her. After that, she never appeared again.Seraphina couldn't exactly tell Ethan the true reason behind her disappearance, so she simply gave him an apologetic smile.Ethan wasn't the type to pry. He understood that everyone had their own secrets. All he cared about was that he had the chance to meet her again after four years. The topic then shifted to Lily.Seraphina learned that Ethan was now a doctor. He was busy, overwhelmed, and often unable to take care of Lily properly. In fact, he had once hired a nanny. Unfortunately, she had abused Lily behind his back. Since then, he never dared entrust Lily to outsiders. He juggled work and raising Lily the best he could.Despite her young age, Lily was unusually sensible. After school, she waited for Ethan at the swings every day. On weekends, she simply stayed home alone.
