Chapter 3: They Went to a Hotel

Author: Sonia
Chloe’s POV

Trevor held me tenderly in his arms that night, showering me with love and kisses. It was a magical night, one I thought I’d always remember.

The next day, I decided to surprise him at his office, planning to wait for him to finish work so we could go to a nice restaurant for dinner.

Because I’d been busy with exams, I hadn’t yet visited his new office since he moved. When I walked in, I was immediately struck by the bright and spacious interior, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a stunning view of the bustling city below.

This was Trevor—an industry rising star within just a few years, managing his own independent business line. Everyone said he was a talented and promising young heir with a limitless future.

But I had never cared about any of that. I was focused on my own career, and our relationship was never about status or titles. It was simply about love.

Yet sitting here in his office, I couldn’t help but feel proud of him.

His secretary brought me a cup of coffee and softly asked if I wanted any snacks. I smiled and politely declined.

Trevor was still tied up with work, and I idly glanced around his office. It was decorated in a minimalist black, white, and gray palette, with occasional pops of bright color. It was an aesthetic that matched him perfectly: serious yet with a touch of playfulness.

Though he was polished and mature at work, there was always a boyish charm about him that was warm and sunny.

Around me, he could even be like a playful puppy, sometimes cuddling up and acting spoiled. The memory of it made my face flush and my heart race. Thank goodness I was alone in the room.

My gaze fell on the set of drawers behind his desk. The top drawer was slightly ajar, revealing the edge of a dark velvet box. Curiosity got the better of me, and I stepped closer, gently pulling the drawer open.

Inside lay a ring box, with a brilliant diamond ring nestled inside. The stone sparkled under the light, dazzling and breathtaking.

My heart skipped a beat. This was it—the ring my best friend had described in vivid detail. Its design was simple yet elegant, exuding both sophistication and luxury.

I picked up the ring and slipped it onto my finger. It felt a little snug, which was typical of Trevor to miss the sizing details.

Covering my mouth, I struggled to contain the overwhelming joy bubbling in my chest.

No, I needed to stay calm. I had to act like I hadn’t seen anything. I wanted to let him surprise me when the time came.

I quickly placed the ring back into the box, carefully returned it to its original position, and closed the drawer. Grabbing my phone, I pretended to scroll through social media to keep myself busy.

But my happiness was short-lived. My smile froze when my eyes landed on a resume sitting on his desk.

It was Rachel’s resume.

Her headshot was printed neatly at the top, her confident smile staring back at me.

Why was her resume on Trevor’s desk?

Before I could process the unsettling discovery, the secretary walked in.

“Miss, Mr. Skyler is still tied up. He’ll probably be back a little later,” she said with a polite smile.

"What’s the deal with this resume?" I asked the secretary, trying to keep my tone calm.

"Oh, this is for the new secretary Mr. Skyler just hired," she replied casually. "He said she’s someone very important to him and told us to take extra care of her. She’ll be starting here next week."

Her words hit me like a thunderclap. My mind went blank.

Trevor had just told me yesterday that Rachel was only staying for a few days.

What was going on?

Why would he hire her as his secretary?

This was ridiculous.

His lies came so easily to him.

If I hadn’t come to his office and seen this for myself, what excuse would he have made when Rachel inevitably didn’t leave after a few days?

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my composure. I looked at the secretary again and asked directly, "Where is Trevor now?"

She hesitated under my piercing gaze before answering meekly, "Mr. Skyler is at the Royal Garden Hotel meeting a client."

A hotel? What kind of business needed to be conducted at a hotel?

If it weren’t for Rachel’s sudden appearance, I would never have doubted Trevor’s loyalty to me. But Rachel was like a thorn lodged deep in my heart, and now, suspicion was my first instinct.

I quickly pulled out my phone and scrolled through Trevor’s social media.

It didn’t take long to find Rachel’s comments. She had liked and commented on nearly every one of his posts. The comments were vague yet suggestive, and the interactions stretched back a long time. Their exchanges were frequent and intimate, but I had been too busy with work and studies to ever pay attention.

I tapped on Rachel’s profile and saw her latest post:

"Feeling amazing! New job, fresh start. Looking forward to working with my boss. Let’s soar to new heights together!"

The accompanying photo showed her in a red, low-cut evening gown, posing provocatively on a staircase. In the corner of the picture, I spotted a man’s sleeve. It was Trevor’s.

I recognized it instantly. It was the shirt I bought him for his birthday last year, a luxury brand I had spent an entire month’s salary on.

And the location tag? The Royal Garden Hotel.

As the events of the past two days raced through my mind, anger and betrayal consumed me. I couldn’t stand waiting another second.

Grabbing my bag, I stormed out of the office and headed straight for the Royal Garden Hotel.

Chloe’s POV“What exactly are you all talking about?” I smiled as I approached my colleagues, addressing them directly. “Oh, nothing, Chloe,” one of them replied hastily. As soon as they saw me, the group quickly dispersed, avoiding any further conversation. It was odd, but I didn’t press them for answers. I had no idea what was going on, but gossip was never my thing anyway. Back in my office, I dove into a pile of work. The case files Amy had organized were a complete mess, but knowing the pressure she faced at home, I didn’t want to give her a hard time. Instead, I took it upon myself to sort everything out, including preparing the files for Roman’s case. After hours of work, I finally had a moment to step away and use the restroom. “We’ll hide over here,” a hushed voice said. I caught the sound of several footsteps as I entered the restroom but didn’t pay much attention. Once I finished, I pushed open the door to leave. Without warning, a bucket of freezing cold

Chloe’s POV“You have to understand me. Everything I’m doing right now is for our future.” I turned around and saw Trevor, swaying unsteadily, clearly drunk. His bloodshot eyes locked onto mine, glistening with unshed tears. “Trevor, it’s not that I don’t want to understand you, but you always make me feel… like I’m not that important to you.” “I know, it’s my fault. I didn’t consider your feelings. I wasn’t there when you needed me. You had to go to the hospital alone. And despite knowing you're allergic, I still let roses into our house just because Rachel wanted them."He gently cupped my face, his touch tender. “But, baby, I care about you. More than I care about myself.” His sincerity made my resolve waver, but before I could respond, Luna stormed out of the car and yanked me away from him. "You have no right to touch her!" Luna snapped, her glare sharp and unwavering. "Where were you when Chloe was in pain? She had to go to the hospital all by herself! And who’s the one

Chloe’s POV“Kiss! Kiss!” My gaze swept across the crowd to see Trevor and Rachel standing close, surrounded by people cheering them on. A pang of discomfort hit me, but I tried not to dwell on it. They were just playing along with the clients—it wasn’t like they had a choice. “Chloe, what are you looking at?” Luna’s voice interrupted my thoughts. “Oh, nothing.” She followed my line of sight and immediately understood everything. “Tonight’s about us, remember? Let’s not think about anything stressful!” “Cheers!” To my surprise, Amy raised her glass and began drinking. It wasn’t long before Amy started getting a little drunk. Sitting quietly with Luna, her son, and me, Amy began to open up about her story. The woman who was usually aggressive and overly critical at work, my sworn nemesis, now looked weary and defeated, a vulnerability I’d never seen in her before. “You probably think I’m harsh, mean-spirited, even petty,” she said, her voice tinged with suppressed bit

Chloe’s POVTo everyone’s shock, Mark slammed the wine glass against his own head. Blood streamed down his forehead as the veins on his face and neck bulged, making him look terrifying. "You don’t even understand what it means to save money! I work my ass off, and you just throw it all away!" Their argument echoed across the restaurant. Luna and I sat nearby, catching snippets of their sharp and cutting words. "Throw it away?" Amy shot back furiously. "Do you have any idea how much it costs to run this household? I haven’t wasted a dime! Everything goes toward our child. Meanwhile, we’re still footing the bill for your sister’s monthly weed habit!" "Don’t you dare bring up my family!" Mark roared, his voice booming. "You’re the one who can’t control yourself. What kind of woman spends like you do?" With that, he grabbed her purse off the table and held it up. "This stupid bag cost three thousand dollars! What good does it do? Can you eat it?" Amy’s face flushed red. "Tha

Chloe’s POV"Sweetheart, we're heading out now."Trevor kissed my forehead before leaving. As I opened my drowsy eyes, I saw him and Rachel walking out the door, both dressed in perfectly coordinated business suits. They looked like a flawless pair.Today, I had taken the day off. This cursed allergy had left my face in a terrible state. I took a cab to the hospital, where the doctor prescribed some medication and sternly warned me to stay away from roses, or the red spots on my face would never go away. I listened quietly, but my thoughts drifted. If Trevor were here, he’d probably remind me with even more care. He’d help me apply the cream and gently blow on my face with concern in his eyes.Leaving the hospital, I wandered aimlessly through the bustling streets, feeling an empty ache in my chest. I didn’t want to sit at home alone, waiting for Trevor and Rachel to come back arm in arm. I needed to reclaim my own life."Hey, girl! What are you up to? Let’s grab dinner!" I cal

  • From Heartbreak to the CEO’s Bed   Chapter 25: Speechless

Chloe’s POV"Wasn’t it you who asked Mr. Roman to take me to the hospital?" "What? No, we haven’t been in touch lately." Roman lied to me! He made it sound like Trevor had sent him to find me and take me to the hospital, but Trevor had no idea about any of it! Roman must have just happened to run into me, taken me to the hospital, and tried to talk me out of breaking up with Trevor. What did he take me for? A gullible child he could easily fool? Then again, he probably meant well, trying to ease things between me and Trevor. Fine. I wouldn’t hold it against him. "You just happened to bump into Uncle?" "Yeah, we ran into each other on the way.”"And he’s the one who took you to the hospital? That’s so unlike him. My uncle usually avoids people like the plague." "Yes, he even talked to me quite a bit." "That’s surprising. He’s always so swamped with work he barely has time to grab a proper meal. Can you believe he’s never even dated anyone? And yet, he made time to take
