Chapter 3

Author: Casper
The joyous expression that appeared on Damien's face cut me deeply. He didn't even spare another glance at me before he whipped around and bolted out of the room.

"Vivian!" Lysander exclaimed, his eyes shining with worry.

"Help me leave this place, please?" I asked while chuckling weakly.

Lysander nodded somberly before he led me away from the detention center.

If my suspicions were correct, what happened at the Christmas ball that night was just the beginning.

Although Candice had noble blood coursing through her veins, her wolf hadn't manifested yet. On top of that, her body was weak, so she could die at any moment.

Candice was still my sister even though we had different mothers because we shared the same father, making me the only tool the Elders had at their disposal to strengthen Candice's frail body. However, the Elders didn't dare openly harm me because Damien protected me in the past.

"Vivian, let me accompany you while you explain the situation to the Council of Elders," Lysander said.

"No need," I replied resolutely before continuing, "I must attend the auction that's being hosted by the pack next week."

Perhaps because I inherited my human mother's business savvy and discerning eye, I was able to build up a tremendously successful career in the human world over the last few years.

The jewelry brands, art collections, and exhibitions I established and managed under the pack's name were highly valuable worldwide.

I had personally organized the upcoming event—the most secretive auction in the world, held only once every three years. There would be priceless treasures up for bid, attracting the attention of billionaires around the world.

The auction was my masterpiece.

A week later, I attended the auction even though I wasn't fully recovered yet.

"Why are you here, Vivian? Mason and I begged Damien for so long before he finally agreed to release you. You should be home, focusing on your recovery."

It was obvious that Freya wished that I was dead, but she still pretended to worry about me.

"This is my auction. If I don't show up, you're going to usurp all of my glory, aren't you?" I asked coldly.

Freya's face twisted fiercely. "Do you really believe that Damien still favors you?"

Just then, a few Alphas from other packs approached us.

"Oh my God, Luna Freya. This is my first time seeing such priceless treasures. I heard that Ms. Candice is the one who personally organized this event."

"She's absolutely amazing! It's no wonder Damien chose her when she's so capable and has such good taste."

I spoke first before Freya could get a word in, asking, "Who told you that Candice is the organizer of this event? I'm the one who—"

Dad rushed toward me and slapped me before I could finish my sentence, causing me to stagger to the ground.

"Get out of here! You don't deserve to be here!"

I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth and laughed. "I don't deserve to be here? Grandma's the one who personally chose me to be the financial supervisor of the Moon pack. This auction only exists because I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into making it a reality."

"The Council of Elders has already exiled you from the Moon pack. All the authority you once held belongs to Candice now."

"Do you need me to bring out the authorization letter that Grandma personally signed? Besides, Candice is sickly and stupid. There's no way she's capable enough to put together such a spectacular auction."

"She can with my help."

Damien immediately took control of the situation when he appeared. He looked cold and powerful as he carried Candice in his arms and approached us. His tall and broad body was reminiscent of a shelter for Candice to hide behind.

"I'll make anything that Candice wants into a reality," Damien declared as he looked at Candice gently.

His eyes turned glacial when he swept his gaze over Lysander and me. "Candice is going to be my Luna. She's the only one who deserves to stand at the top of the pack and enjoy all the benefits that come with her position."

Damien glared at me before saying, "Hand over the authorization letter, and I'll consider letting you stay in the pack."

I dug my nails into my palms. I was biting my lip so harshly that blood seeped from my split lip.

Damien was willing to ruin me for Candice's sake.

The overflowing love that I had once felt for him had twisted into immense loathing. I couldn't believe that he was willing to snatch the fruits of my labor from me—the source of my pride!

"I need to thank you, Vivian," Candice said while looking at Damien bashfully. "If it weren't for you, I would never have known that Damien loved and cared for me so much."

Damien set Candice on her feet as if she were a valuable treasure. He glared at me before barking out a cruel laugh.

"A she-wolf who's been exiled from her pack will be killed."

I looked at the wolves who stood before me—my stepmother, Freya, who wanted me dead, my cold-blooded father, and my stepsister, Candice, who grinned gleefully at me as she stood within the arms of the Alpha I once loved.

I felt as if the rage within me was going to boil over. I gritted my teeth and straightened my back before shouting, "I'm never going to hand over that authorization letter!"

Damien lay on a bed in Silvermoon Tower as I healed his punctured shoulder.Fortunately, the shadow spear hadn't pierced any of his vitals. Still, it was capable of wounding a wolf's soul, so I was extra careful while healing him.Light flickered in Damien's eyes as he watched the beads of sweat roll down my forehead.I wasn't sure how long had passed, but when I was finally done, only a faint scar remained on his shoulder."You shouldn't have wasted your power on saving me, Vivian.""I don't want to be in your debt.""You still love me, don't you?" Damien asked as he caressed my face and stared into my eyes.I remained silent."Forgive me, please? Come back to my side and let me love you properly this time."Damien pressed a gentle and longing kiss against my lips. It almost seemed as if he treated me as his most cherished treasure. We were intimately familiar with each other's bodies. Damien ran his tongue over my lips and my chest before slowly going lower, stoking the fla

I was the Alpha Female that the scepter chose—the scepter that Dad had foolishly coveted but could never find had chosen me over everyone else! It proved that not only did I possess immense power, but the Moon Goddess had acknowledged my status and identity. It didn't take long for the news to spread to other packs. The wolves who used to insult and look down on me could only cower in fear in a corner like helpless mice.As for me, I possessed the Moon pack's power, status, and wealth at that moment.I stood on the stage and swept my gaze over the new pack that I had established. My pack consisted of those who were insulted, disdained, and ostracized by the other wolves.Their eyes glimmered with hope. Their fangs were incredibly sharp, and I knew without a doubt that they were fiercely loyal to me."Tonight," I said as I raised the scepter that was fully awakened. Not only was its immense power capable of healing the wolves, but it could also bestow power on them."With the

As Damien held off the Council of Elders, I let the scepter guide me toward a deserted place where Silvermoon Tower was located.…Damien found me later in the early hours of the morning. He was dressed in a simple, black shirt and pants. He was also holding a tray that had some food on it, along with a single apple. He sat down on the chair next to my bed before picking up a knife to peel the apple. His movements were extremely elegant, as if he were performing a ritual. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that the thing he was slicing wasn't an apple, but my heart that I had built several layers of walls around."Lysander's father and your father are old acquaintances. They worked together to set this trap for you a long time ago," Damien said in a deep voice. "It's hard to believe that you chose to believe him."He looked up at me. He didn't look angry, but there was an emotion in his eyes that sent a chill down my spine—judgment for my "foolish" actions."I told you to beh

"You were tricked again, Vivian," Candice said.Lysander, the liar of the White pack, was wearing a smug and twisted smile."Why?" I asked, surprising myself by how calm I was."My father and your father are working together. Besides, there's no way I'll ever fall for a lowly Lycan like you. I prefer she-wolves like Candice."Although Lysander was leering at me, I didn't feel hurt at all. I didn't love him, after all, but I did feel a little disappointed that I hadn't seen through his act."She told me that the most important part of the ritual is to activate the magical array with blood. Are you ready, Candice?" Lysander asked."I'll be fine, right, Dad?" Candice asked, sounding a little scared."Don't be scared. You'll have a healthy body once you wake up again. Everything in the Moon pack will belong to you."Dad sliced open Candice's wrist, letting her blood flow into the basin set in the middle of the altar. He then roughly grabbed my wrist.I laughed just as the blade wa

My declaration angered Damien. His silver eyes turned gold as he lunged at me."I'm your sworn enemy? Who are you going to take as your mate then? That useless wolf, Lysander?" he demanded as he pinned me under him.Damien had clearly lost his temper. "You want me to mark you, no?" He asked before revealing his fangs and sinking them into my nape.Pain lanced through my entire body for a split second before I used all my strength to shove Damien off me. He had only bitten me for a few seconds, so the mark probably hadn't taken effect yet.Damien was just about to pounce on me again when Candice started calling for him from the bedroom. As expected, Damien chose her over me, glaring at me furiously before leaving me alone in the room.At that moment, I swore that I would never shed another tear over him ever again.…My body started feeling strange after I left the villa. My senses were turning sharper—my hearing becoming so sensitive that I could hear the footsteps of the Co

"How arrogant! Isn't she just acting like this because she's the eldest daughter of Alpha Mason? But Ms. Candice is going to be the future Alpha Female of the pack!""She's nothing more than a lowly slut! She seduced Damien with her body, and now she wants to fight Ms. Candice for him. She's totally out of her mind!"Before Lysander could defend me, I darted forward and attacked the two Omegas who were insulting me.Damien immediately released his oppressive Alpha power, causing my limbs to tremble from the pressure.Eventually, my knees buckled, and I was forced to kneel on the ground.Damien looked down at me from the tip of his nose."Why are you hurting me like this?" I demanded. "Don't you know that they want to sacrifice me? They want me to die so your precious Candice can have a body that's strong enough to withstand her wolf's manifestation."It was as if I had set off a bomb with my furious words. Surprise was written across all the wolves' faces."Who wants to sacrifi
