Chapter 2

"You'll just have to be my lover from now on, okay?" Sienna said on the phone.

After ending the call, she glanced at me somewhat evasively. "You didn't hear what I said, right?"

Once I shook my head, she exhaled in relief and brought me into the car.

But the moment I got in, I saw the pile of children's gifts in the backseat. There were also multiple shopping bags from an adult store.

Sienna hastily explained, "Those were all gifts from my friends. I just haven't had time to put them away yet. You can use the front passenger seat."

"But Mommy, it's not safe for children to sit in the front passenger seat."

I climbed into the back seat and spotted several bottles of lubricant in one of the shopping bags. I also saw a bunch of children's clothes from brands I recognized—all of them expensive.

Sienna's temper flared again. "I told you to stop calling me Mommy!"

"Okay, Mommy."

Fumes were almost coming out of her ears. "Forget it. I don't want to waste my time arguing with you."

When we got home, the furniture and the entire layout of the house looked completely different. The storage room was filled with even more things. I saw three dusty strollers, along with a pile of broken toys.

In the corner was a family portrait. I quickly picked it up and wiped it clean. Turning to Sienna, I asked, "Mommy, why did our family portrait get dumped here?"

Without warning, she raised her hand and slapped me hard across the face. The family portrait slipped from my hands, and the glass from the frame shattered the instant it hit the floor.

"Can you just drop the act, Cameron? Is this fun to you?"

I stood frozen, my cheek throbbing painfully. Tears trickled down my face. "Why did you hit me, Mommy? You have never hit me before."

I crumpled to my knees to pick up the family portrait as I sobbed, "Daddy is still inside the pod, Mommy! He won't wake up anymore. This photo is the only thing I have to remember him."

Sienna's eyes widened. "H-Have you seriously suffered some kind of brain damage?"

She began to panic a little. Crouching down, she cupped my face.

"Take a careful look, Cameron. It's me, Sienna. I'm your wife. Although I had you frozen inside the cryogenic pod ten years ago, I have never forgotten about you. I still love you."

"But if you love Daddy, why did you freeze him? I remember Daddy crying the day we got frozen."

Sienna's hands slipped off my face. She was just about to speak when the door abruptly opened.

Frederic Moran showed up with three little boys.

"Sienna, the children can't live without you... and neither can I," he declared before dropping to his knees in front of me. "Please, Cameron, I'm begging you. Let Sienna and I be together. We've been in love for ten years now. We can't bear to live without each other."

The three boys beside him got on their knees and begged me as well.

"You're the one who keeps bullying Daddy! You're the bad guy!" I began to pummel Frederic with all my might, as if I'd lost my mind.

"Cameron Lewis! Stop it!" Sienna charged at me, pushing me away before she glared daggers at me. "Since you have no trouble beating someone up, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with you after all. You're just pretending!"

"What are you talking about?" Frederic asked.

Still eyeing me fiercely, Sienna gritted her teeth and explained, "Cameron is still mad at me for freezing him for ten years, so he's acting like he's suffered from some kind of mental impairment and has been calling me Mommy."

Frederic immediately turned toward me with a pitiful expression. "You shouldn't act like this, Cameron. I know you want to pretend that you're suffering from some mental condition to get Sienna's attention, but she and I have three children together now. We can't be without her."

Sienna's expression soured a little as she quickly stopped him from saying anything else.

Looking at the three boys, I lunged at them, giving them a good beating.

"You're the ones who stole my mommy! I'm going to kill you!"

A loud thump rang out, and a sharp pain exploded at the back of my head.

I turned my head and saw Sienna standing behind me with a half-broken vase. I felt the back of my head, and my hand came away covered in blood.

All at once, I burst into tears. "It hurts! It hurts so much! I want Daddy! I'm going to look for Daddy!"

I tried to make my way to the door, but Sienna yanked me back and slapped me again. This time, she used so much force that I barely managed to stay on my feet.

"Since you insist on acting like some mentally challenged idiot, Cameron, I'm going to see for myself whether that's true."
